  • Delays are common in projects and therefore contracts usually include clauses dealing with extension of time and liquidated damages. These clauses often define the types of delay and the associated entitlement mechanism. However, the difficulty is usually in how to analyse the delays, particularly when the contract does not describe the delay analysis method and the matters involved are complex.
Delay Analysis can be described as the application of knowledge and experience to identify the delay, the causes of delay, the amount of delay in projects, and the party liable for it. There are multiple standard delay analysis methods that are typically used in the industry, but there is often confusion as to the selection and implementation of these methods.
Our speaker, Yazeed Abdelhadi, will take you through the common delay analysis methods, best industry practice, and the factors you should consider when selecting and implementing a delay analysis method. Reference will be made to AACE recommended practices:
    - 29R-03 Forensic Schedule Analysis (25 April 2011 Revision)
    - 52R-06 Prospective Time Impact Analysis - As Applied in Construction (4 May 2017 Revision)
