    The weird thing about illegals "being a boon to the economy" is that they don't have to be illegal. If the economy needs them, than make a working visa and let them in legally - which is better for everyone.
    The issue is with the legality, not with the people themselves, who are mostly decent.

    • @nlabanok
      @nlabanok หลายเดือนก่อน +8

      When they're here illegally, they become VERY captive to the low pay and poor working conditions of employers who bring on that type of labor. THAT'S the unstated aspect of (largely, but not exclusively) GOP "immigration" policy that is designed as yet another giveaway to craven profiteers we have amongst us here in the US. If they were to come here legally, then their employers would be bound to higher compensation, safety, and humanitarian standards. It's really the same reason that (largely, but not exclusively again) GOP politicians are hyperbolically against universal healthcare, not provided by employers....again, employers use this benefit for retention of labor and a substitute for other, more negotiable forms of compensation, especially if you have a family member with a significant pre-existing condition.

      Fine and jail employers like Trump who hire illegals for dish washing, housekeeping, landscaping, and constructing. Romney proposed this when he ran for office but we all know deep inside that we need illegals for minimal jobs no one wants.

I think it's pretty simple: just get a message around any particular narrative you are trying to push, get everyone on message and if you don't fall into line you will be cast out, and then the particular media sources that so many people follow are more than happy to promote the same narrative. So basically it's just message discipline, repetition, and capture of enough of the press to make it work.
    Dems on the other hand is sometimes like herding cats when it comes to message and opinion (more corporate types vs more progressive types, issues like Israel/Gaza), and even the more friendly media sources will call them out on things that are more egregious or that they feel are against certain preferred principles. They also often seem so afraid to show spine and call things out for what they are and fight back.

    First of all, why is Kamala under such scrutiny as a presidential candidate, when Trump is by far the worst possible person in the entire world (no hyperbole) to be president? I would literally rather pick anyone at random, than Trump, because they would at least just defer everything to their advisors. Trump already showed it doesn't even take much to be president, you just need to be functionally coherent when talking. Any republican with a high school degree could be president if they formed their arguments in a cogent way, why the hell does it matter that Kamala needs to be 'battle-tested'? Any democrat is far more articulate than any MAGA republican, it's not even a contest.
    Second of all, debates in general are such a horrible format. They REQUIRE moderation and no emotional gestures like crowd applause because it's so easy for the losing side of a debate to just spew bullshit non-sequiturs that take time to refute. It's so easy to just set everything on fire than it is to extinguish it, which is why Kamala (or any sane person) doesn't want a debate on FOX or any propaganda TV channel that won't fact check or moderate.

      Even if it was true that the average Democrat IQ was 5 points higher than the average Republican (BTW, it isn't), your average Republican would still be smarter than about 40% of Democrats.
      There are smart people on both sides of the political spectrum.

    I'm a dairy farmer in upstate New York pretty much everyone is conservative mostly moderate will vote for Trump what all of us has at least 10 or more almost always illegal immigrants working on the farm. Been working with these guys for decades typically what they do is they come here young work 70 hours a week for 5 to 7 years and then they go back they're very savings and start a business and build a house and pay taxes while they're here They will never get that money back... All of us think he's just saying that because it's popular among his base he said that last time in 2016 and you didn't deport almost anyone.

    • @chemquests
      @chemquests หลายเดือนก่อน

    • @Ryanrobi
      @Ryanrobi หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@chemquestsI didn't vote for him before for one and for two all politicians lie they have to because the voters want to hear things that are not true It's a popularity contest after all. Both sides want to pretend like we don't have to cut social security and Medicare spending and we can just keep borrowing faster than the economy grows forever because it's unpopular They don't want to raise taxes on the people that need to pay more tax which is the middle class in order to fund that.
      Honestly I don't think I'll ever vote for a Democrat again after what their regulations have done just in diesel engines They made the lives of farmers loggers truck drivers and anyone else use a diesel engine absolute hell and we got nothing out of it since we already had clean air and we already had clean water and it won't stop China India in every other developing country from drastically increased air emissions anyways or just handicapping ourselves to get a few votes from radical environmentalist on the left.

      FOX has plenty of moderate viewers. They are just moderate right leaning voters (mostly). Just like Scott is a moderate left leaning voter. Being moderate doesn't mean you have a 50/50 chance of voting for either side. It means you don't represent the extreme on either side.

    Total hypocrisy on the illegal immigration topic. Wealthy and upper middle class (the host) are the beneficiaries of cheap labor but don’t have to deal with the negatives. They are not competing for jobs, housing, etc with non-citizens. Their kids go to schools in different districts and they live in neighborhoods far away.
    Scott, I appreciate you pointing out the plight of young people and particular young men in our society, but I think you are overlooking the challenges poor/working class citizens of country face. He will never get my vote, but I get why many support Trump.
