To think we've already forgotten the horrors of twentieth century. How can that be? To me it is madness. I've only read or watched documentaries. I cried several times reading the first chapter of Man's Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl which goes into first hand detail about life in WWII German concentration camps. I had to stop reading several times. Can't imagine touring a place like that.
It's probably too early to call China's decline, it seems to have robust developments in many fronts. One can expect another one hundred years or two or more of growth if history can be a guide.
Fact check: 45000 Palestinians were killed by Israel, 69% of them women and children; that’s 2% of the population of Gaza. Those are the direct deaths, when you include estimates of indirect deaths from disease it could be as high as 180,000 people. 1.9million out of 2 million people were forcibly displaced. 70% of all buildings in Gaza have been damaged or destroyed. This war has the highest civilian toll combatant ratio of any war in the 21st century at 13:1. It had the highest kill rate since the Rwandan genocide. Call it for what it is, a genocide.
Where are you getting your numbers? You are way way off on your math. And as horrible as it is - it’s simply not a genocide -unless you are going to politicise the term and change the definition. You sound rational but it hides a lot of error.
It'd be a flawed premise, an armed group that uses the death of civilians to their advantage will, duh, lead to more civilian deaths in a war, that outcome doesn't say much about the intention of the opposite side, when you also take into account that it's a dense urban environment it's particularly hopeless, either you don't wage a war at all or there'd be a war with a lot of civilian casualties, if one side starts a war than the other side is forced to act in any case. Also the reference to the death of "children", i.e. age below 18, as somehow inherently civilian doesn't cohere to reality, i'd assume they don't follow typical guidelines, some 100 years ago anyone over the age of 14 was an adult, that'd be more their reality
While it is true that the Chinese economy has not been growing at the rates that it did over the last few decades, its GDP will grow 4.8% in 2024, a growth rate higher than that of the US, which was the highest the G7 at 2.9%. The Russian growth rate also exceeded that of the US or Europe at 3.9%.

Overall in this particular talk he didn't go deep into the Middle East but I have read him on Twitter and heard other interviews many times and as a person living in the Middle East can't avoid feeling embassy when he speaks with that sense of entitlement and authority taking wrong conclusions and assessments that usually take days to refute themselves. I cried several times reading the first chapter of Man's Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl which goes into first hand detail about life in WWII German concentration camps. I had to stop reading several times. Can't imagine touring a place like that.
Great discussion.
Scott G went from headlining the totally failed CNN+ to hosting an equally failing podcast. LOVE IT!
Scott wants to be famous so badly it’s making him crazy
@@existentialvoid en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casualties_of_the_Israel%E2%80%93Hamas_war
LMAO the children were pregnant, including the boys, all of them identified as journalists as well
Neither Scott will (his mother is Jewish) and Ian’s a public figure that tries to interpret things for Americans rather than take a moral view …
Excellent interview ❤💯
While it is true that the Chinese economy has not been growing at the rates that it did over the last few decades, its GDP will grow 4.8% in 2024, a growth rate higher than that of the US, which was the highest the G7 at 2.9%.
The Russian growth rate also exceeded that of the US or Europe at 3.9%.
US has a bigger economy than China so overall we still grow by more
The country that acts without any constraints of international laws and norms is Israel and America is the enabler. It's not Iran or North Korea.
I'm curious, what is CHINA'S position on Gaza?
So Indonesia is ignoring chinas treatment of their own Muslim population? It’s hilarious
Anti - West, along with Anti-Semitism, rampant now. Surprising few for now, but the infestation is coming. Decent, Liberal, democracy in on the ropes. 😞

In your vast knowledge, care to make an actual point on what he got wrong?
@@victorhankinson1530 Trolls don't think.
@@victorhankinson1530 he confuses the Iranian attacks of April and October and the reasons behind each, calls performative an action that was pretty straight forward, thinks the White House had influence over Israeli decisions on those attacks (which didn't, nor since the war started) and doesn't understand the Israeli motivations, he sees it as a game and not as survival. His knowledge of the internal Israeli or Arab polítics is too shallow, he tries to hide by making bold statements on intentions. I just realized now after listening to him so many times.
great guest!
I’m sorry but Bremmer is little more than an establishment mouthpiece. What that means is continued conflict throughout the world and at home. If the establishment had a better track record that would be one thing. Unfortunately they have had a terrible track record for at least the last 50 years.
Both Scott and Ian are pro-Western racists …
"Ukraine went from a population of over 50 million to 40 million now"...Ian might want to read up on demographics, Ukraine's population over 50+ million was in early 90's and has declined every year since even not accounting for lost territory which if you'd exclude lead to numbers way below what he referred to, get basic facts correct if you intend to mention them at all
Stop with the moral war BS.
My grandfather had soft thesis' too. Kamala for the win!
Scott is arrogant
Whatever animosity Indonesia feels against the US, they'll soon get over it. This recent warmth to China and BRICS is fashionable now and will be short-lived.
The future is a western US/European centric world...
China is a more direct threat and a main competitor to the Indonesians, and they are right in their backyard...
Ian's seein' like he always does. Hook 'hm up to the right artificial intelligence & get a lot better idea about the future. You know it's comin'.
The thing with this established types is they lie so much that you strain to even hear the truth 🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️ I think they actually believe the bullshit
Ian is blinded by the 90's liberal fear of Blowback that he lets it paralyze rational action.
The fact that Hamas says that wants to destroy Israel hut they don’t have the means can’t be considered as Genocide. Scott defends the israeli genocide saying that Hamas says they qant to destroy Israel. Makes no sense at all.
Scott you should get Peter Zeihan on. He is great and has a unique perspective.
No. Peter Z is a colossal joke. He should do everyone a favor and get lost while hiking in Colorado.
I sure hope we can get past the trump era, and get back to a society where we treat reality as real, and facts as legitimate, and get rid of the continual spin doctors
You mean how people like Biden and Kamala want us to believe men are women and women are men?
Thank you, The Post who had main journal murdered
It’s funny how no one talks this way about Gaza outside USA and UK. This blind spot is the biggest obstacle to 2 states and peace. Until people can come clean and admit the apartheid occupation is horrid and morally wrong we won’t see progress.

Can she walk around midday asking people why xi jingping shouldn't be kicked out office? Would she be safe if she did that for a few days?

Ian said WW2 was a good war, wow
"Good war" is a horrible term from PR perspective, but I think I get what they mean. They mean it was a right thing for US to enter on the side against Nazies.
War is never "good" in the normal sense of the word.
Dear Prof,
may I ask for your advice on s&p 500? I would like to invest an additional sum but the price has gone up since my last investment from 77 to 102. Would you invest or wait till the price goes down?
Thanks a million
Did the host actualy said the Israeli war is good? Why is Ian talking to such podcasts?
Try to understand the other side of the argument if you believe you have enough moral high ground to disdain it.
Yes, Scott’s a pro-lsraeli racist …
Day 44: Please bring on Gary Stevenson (Garys Economics)! Thanks!

I wonder how Ian knows what Kamala thinks about anything at all.. let alone Palestine.
How could he if she doesn’t herself.

Something's off about this selection it ended so quickly happened so fast I am not a sore loser but something doesn't smell right
Ian is smart, therefore we know he's lying, rather than making innocent mistakes. Right from the first few sentences, I understood his position on the middle-eastern conflict.
