One of the best films I've seen in a long time. Excellent performance by Ginger Rogers and great dialogue. The suspense was real and kept me hooked right throughout.
Lorne Green to make such a good bad guy, then go on to be good Ben Cartwright proves what a good, convincing actor he was. I wasn't happy with Brian Keith's role either, but it was a really good movie.
1:25:23 So wonderful watching these old films - they are cozy CONVERSATIONS; not like being strapped to amusing park rides in modern films. ... One of the best written films - with top-notch actors! - I've ever watched! ... Thanks for posting!
Well this movie is nearly 70 years old, and some people want to critique it and jusge it by today's warped standards, why not just enjoy it for what it was, a movie made for it's time, the decisions to make it and how it was made were not any of yours to make, appreciate the decisions and hard work of the people who actually made it!
What a great movie summary! Worthwhile read that added a great deal to my enjoyment of this film. You're right, this is a great performance by Ginger Rogers! Ì"m happy that I was able to see it. The script is arch and her delivery is engaging with memorable quote after snappy comeback after quote after comeback! 😊 Thanks much!🎉
One of the best crime/ drama movie...Good song for the dancing scene ...Character actor John Larch as the detective talking to the first witness before he was shot by the sniper...
Wows!!! A lot of history in this movie and your about/description! Ferries, Senators, Actors etc. Gr8t classic thriller. ThnX 4-Upld & Eng Language Subs.
Maurine O’Hara said in an interview she doesn’t believe it was an accident. They were good friends. She went to visit him right before his death and stated that even though he was ill, he still was in good spirits with no signs of depression. They had a good visit. She stated that he was a gun enthusiast and was always messing around with his guns, cleaning, displaying, etc. She feels strongly it was just an accident, while he was doing something with one of his guns it went off. She felt very strongly about this.
Ginger Rogers knew if she wanted a long career, she'd have to be more than a dancer, and took a number of dramatic roles to prepare. With an Oscar for "Kitty Foyle", she secured that career. She looks and sounds more like former Warners co-star Joan Blondell here; she and Edward G Robinson play against type in a pretty good film noir. BTW, Lorne Greene was Canadian, and she borrows the name of a popular radio show as her new occupation.
I read Ginger Rogers and think 'Monkey Business'. It might be a bit unfortunate in view of her other excellent work. But I always associate her with that sparkle and splendid humour. This solid Hatpiece here must wait for some foggy cool afternoon. Thankyou 😊
What!? No vulgarity, no profanity, no sordid sex scenes, no crazy crash up car, no dimwitted dialogue, no bloated production budget!? However did they make such a delightful role of celluloid?
I have never seen Ginger Rogers play such a part. Mot of the movies I have seen her in, she was dancing. Wasn't she a wonderful dancer in most of her movies?
The tunnel they drove through at the begining in the early 50s. We had our first one built in Perth Australia only a few years ago and it was like 'WOW how futuristic'. It was the biggest news in Perth at the time. Makes me realise how far behind we are. No nuclear power, no Highspeed monorail...Im busting for a monorail. Not in my lifetime I guess.
3 mins 25 . Unusual to see Ginger with short hair : normally we see a generous amount of blonde coiffure...this film : 1955 . Ginger is always good...😊 🇬🇧😊🇺🇲🌟💙🇬🇧
Roger that. I posted Ginger Rogers in "The Thirteenth Guest" (1932): th-cam.com/video/qVHClvUTXdM/w-d-xo.html & "A Shriek In The Night" (1933): th-cam.com/video/87v67IooCaM/w-d-xo.html
I love Rogers and Keith but felt the attraction wasn’t given time to develop more naturally and thus the chemistry just wasn’t there for me. And we’re to believe they fell in love after a couple of days? Plus, Gingers was 10 years older than Keith and I think it showed. It would have made more sense for a younger actress to play the hard luck kid with a heart of gold.Edward G Robinson I think should have been cast as the crooked cop and Keith could have been a cop with few years of experience who gets duped. But the acting for the most part was good and I was really rooting for Roger’s character by the end.

Was this a crime drama, thriller or comedy? I always liked Ginger Rogers but this was not a role for her. Jan Sterling would have been my choice and Edward G. Robinson's talents were somewhat wasted. All in all not a bad movie, just a little mis-casting and not sticking with a theme. Thank you for posting this, it was definitely different.
This movie was huge letdown. A real waste of Edward G. We still put Americans in prison on bogus charges but now we invite undesirable criminals into our country.
I thought it was great. I was glued to the screen, even though I was really hungry. Edward G. Robinson never disappoints. Ironic him being the good guy and Lorne Green being the bad guy.
@@LoisHarris-n8e It was great. Ginger Rogers did well in this, as did Edward G Robinson. It wasn't Edward G's picture, that's all. He can't always play the lead.
It's called "casting against type." A lotof actors always complained the studio system kept themin stereotypical roles. Ginger was fine in this role and te reviews were good.

Glad you enjoyed it!
I never knew Ginger Rodgers to be such an authentic actress - thus: thanks to you!!!
Welcome. Thanks for watching.
Solid, if slow-going drama, but Ginger makes it worthwhile. Robinson and Keith are topnotch. Good, competent cast all round.
Glad you like it. Welcome.
Love Ms Ginger Rogers! Some great one liners! A real pro❤️

Great delivery of lines! This was Ginger Rogers' movie.
Roger that. Glad you enjoyed it!
I enjoyed this movie! Loved Ginger’s pixie haircut!

How sad that one day that handsome and talented man would take his own life.
R.I.P Brian Keith.

So sad. He suffered from emphysema and lung cancer during the latter part of his life, despite having quit smoking ten years earlier.
Thank you. I enjoyed that.

Ginger Rogers had the hardest Stink eye stare I have ever seen. On a par with Peter Lorr. I would be shitting if I copped 'The stare' from her.
Thanks for sharing that. Welcome. I post Ginger Rogers movies here: th-cam.com/play/PLk3CReZFhoBfLA6sF-8ecKn-jUlx2Zfhy.html

Ha! I read Ginger Rogers and think of her saying, “I did everything Fred Astaire did, only backwards and in high heels”.
Great movie and GR's acting is as good as her dancing.....refreshing compared to current movies.
Glad you enjoyed it!

Right?! Thanks for watching.
To think this was 20 plus years after her Fred Astaire partnership and still a lovely classy lady…
it was 6 years after their partnership
Thanks for watching.
Phil Karlson was a terrific noir director. He lived that life as a kid in Chicago
Thanks for the info!
Kinda taken back by Ginger Roger & Lorne Green' characters been awhile since we last saw em both in the saddle
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Welcome.
I enjoyed this movie, there's some great acting in it but, there's some bad also. Worth watching most definitely.
Glad you enjoyed it!

“Should we take him in the back door in the tight alley with no windows?” “Nah, we will use the ridiculously long and exposed stairs in front.”
Yeah, saw that coming from 200 yards away - about the same distance as the shot. There's nothing like betting on a sure thing.🙂
Right?! Thanks for watching.
Just realized the Barzini killing from The Godfather was a homage to this film. Steps of New York County Courthouse, 60 Centre St., NYC
Thanks for the info!
Wow great movie
Glad you enjoyed it!
The bridge is misspelled. Not correct: Verrazano. Correct: Verazzano. I learned that in 5th grade in 1968.
The Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge is a suspension bridge connecting the New York City boroughs of Staten Island and Brooklyn. Thanks for watching.
At present....GANGBUSTER!!!! What a great flick! New found respect for Miss Ginger Rodgers! sgl
Glad you enjoyed it!

On YT is a short about a single rail train balanced by gyroscopes that was invented and successfully demonstrated in 1915 but nobody believed it.

She might be compared to Judy Holliday in born yesterday

After Hoss died, ole Ben was never the same, he succumbed to the dark side. And now Buffy and Jody lost their good ole Uncle Bill too. Tragic.
Ha! Thanks for watching.

Good point. Thanks for watching.

She had 5 husbands. Crazy
No wonder having to listen to that whiney voice all day long!!!!

Wow, Ben Cartwright was the bad guy.
He had to get money to buy Alpo for his dog.

Easy there big guy. Maybe you should take a pill.
Now? Ten years before this movie was made the government brought Nazis war criminals to the US and put them to work in the science industries.

sure buddy. Is that a veiled reference to Donald Trump's 34 felony conviction? You must believe in Santa Claus too. He is guilty as hell.
Rogers was miscast here, given the part because she had a big name: typical Hollywood stupidity.
