Pocahontas or her real name Matoaka, never loved John she was 11-13 when they first met & he was 29-31… she never loved him she just didn’t want her tribe to be massacred if John was executed by Chief Powhatan.

She died from small pox (I think) which was brought with the British and French. The native people did not have the immune system to fight the illness, and so many died from small pox and many other diseases. There was also a whiskey trade, and the whiskey contains things like sawdust and urine to fill it and keep it fresh, which also caused tragedy. I realize I went off topic so I apologize for that 😬

    • @followme6482

Because in real life, she had a son named Thomas. But also in real life, Rolfe was a widower in his 40ies and a farmer, never a diplomat, and he became rich from tobacco farming in Virginia soon after Pocahontas' early death. So let's leave the 1st movie to be, dump hecking Rolfe (how he's supposed to strive in a land that wild without well-known commodities? This is something truly unreal, giving up comfort for mud after having it all in London) and pretend Pocahontas 2 never existed with its notorious ending 😁

  • @candekittld5875
    @candekittld5875 4 ปีที่แล้ว +51

    Pocahontas 2 (another ending)
-Thanks for everything, dear John Rolfe. But from the beginning I already knew my way, and my way is to be with him. She looks at John Smith. I thank you very much, I will never forget you. - The two hug and say goodbye.
In that, John Rolfe leaves the palace sadly and meets a friend.
-Hey! Rolfe! It was a long time since I did not see you. I have plans to go to The Indias, do you sign up?
John smiles and looks back, but without thinking, he screams: Yes, my friend! Where do I enroll?
"Long ago I did not see you, I missed you so much ..." says John Smith, as he approached Pocahontas gently caressing the columns that surrounded the balcony where they were. -I don't want to travel again if I'm not by your side.
-I don't want to lose you again either.
-And tell me, where does your compass point? I hope to the East. - He points to where he is standing, and the two laugh.
    -I have to return...
-Then I'll come back to you. I don't want to lose you Pocahontas again.
-But you won't get used to it and then you will go ... you know it's difficult and we don't have buildings and all these wonders here ... -Smith interrupts her -I've been there, and I want to be there with you again, forever.
The two came closer, and they kissed as long ago they did not.
-The ship is about to set sail, John.
    -Let's go then!
The two of them boarded the ship that would direct them back to the town of Pocahontas, where Powhatan, her father, was eagerly awaiting her.
"You have no duty to the King?
-Pocahontas, my duty now is to follow my heart.
Smith caught her by surprise and the two kissed again, hoping to get where their story began, and where it will never end.

After going to years of abuse and made to abandon her family and people, Pocahontas saw John Smith in a party in England and was so shocked that she ran away from him. They were told he was dead. In their second meeting, she was more level-headed and recounted how he had called her father, father and since she was in his country, he would be her father. In other words, in spite of the strong bond that formed between him and her tribe, he did not respect that. Pocahontas' story was so tragic especially that scene where she felt betrayed by the one Englishman she thought was a family friend. She knew right then and there that she could expect nothing from him. However, I'm glad she was allowed to have her sister visit her during the later part of the negotiations between the Powhatans and the English. Her sister accompanied her to England.

Sorry. She had one son and died at age 22. So she did not have a happy ending. Thanksgiving is still not considered a Native holiday, as soon as Massasoit was dead, the Pilgrims wasted no time starting a war with his son, killing him and displaying his head at Plymouth on a pike. Metacom's wife and children were sold into slavery in Barbados. So Thanksgiving is considered a beginning of the Indigenous genocide of Native Americans. Since this video is pure fantasy and not based on truth, you would do well as to mark it fantasy or simply delete it.

While the second movie is one of the worst disney sequels ever, I understand what they tried to do, but they should have left the first movie alone. The real pocahontas did actually marry John Rolfe but I don't think she really loved him, same with John Smith in real life. And she died at age 22 so she didn't really have a happy ending in real life.

The reason why they made Pocahontas 2 was because people were asking for it. Since Pocahontas was based on a real person they couldn’t just say “Pocahontas And John Smith Together forever” they had to make something a little true. WARNING ⚠️ In real life Pocahontas was kidnapped and raped by John Ralf, and irl Pocahontas was only 10 when the settlers came. John smith was in his late 30’s 😬. So in reality ALL DA JOHNS were da bad guys. Sadly she was only 21 when she died. Let’s just pretend Pocahontas 2 never existed. 🙃...Stay safe peeps! ❤️

Jessica Thompson In Powhatan tradition it doesn’t! It made her a strategic baby maker that was to be married off to multiple men, which is probably why Pocahontas (Or Rebeca as she was going by then) didn’t like her tribal elders or father that much.
Powhatan tradition was for a Chief’s daughter to become a woman, marry a chief within the Confederation, give birth, leave the child to be raised by that tribe’s elders, and immediately go back to her original tribe to repeat the process. This is why nobody knows who Pocahontas’s mother was and why Disney just killed her off instead

Then in order to prevent the white man from attacking their village she had to go with them. But they still attacked them. She was raped. She was forced to marry John Rolfe (aka her rapist) then she died at 21 due to small pox. Hope that cleared it up. 👌🏻❤️

Phocohantas pleaded for John Smith's death when the Pilgrims arrived at Jamestown. When a mysterious gun powder explosion injured John Smith, John Rolfe took over the place of John Smith while he went back to England to receive medical aid. At that time they were having a difficult time called the Starving Time in Jamestown. They started taking foods and goods from the Powatoan that they were not willing to trade. Eventually, the Jamestown colony became the first surviving colony and scientist are excavating the area of Jamestown. I hope you learned alot from this comment also please ignore my bad grammar.

She is one of my fave DP girls.
There are just 2 problems with Disney version: 1st using real life names (if it was Laolama & Brad Flith, no one could complain); 2nd keeping Smith alive in the sequel (he should have truly died at the start of New World)
Honestly, I like both Smith & Rolfie. Whats the point of the first film iconic ending if not MOVING ON? It makes perfect sense that she settles with someone else, as that reflects reality - and her story is the most realistic of all DP girls.
There is also a cartoon for kids (Princess of the American Indian 1997, idk the company) which portrays her life much more accurately (she being a girl, growing up, dying & her son continuing to live on) - you can always watch that one
PS I will never give up my hopes from this turning into a live action ;)

Why does everyone keep mentioning the “real story”? People keep mentioning the real story as if this story will follow that path. She will not die at 21 lmao. Since this Disney version is already based off of fiction and unrealism, a fairytale fantasy universe. People keep whining about historical inaccuracy. You really think they’ll sell a historically accurate version of Pocahontas to kids? One where she gets raped by John Smith at 13 instead? As well as all the other atrocities that occurred? A love story between them both older is more preferable obviously. Disney likes romance. “B-But MUH REALISM” Stfu and go get a company who makes more mature themed movies for a historically accurate Pocahontas film. Smh pretty annoying. Also she should’ve been with John Smith but John Rolfe is okay too I guess. Nice video.
