Some people are born into royal families, and others aren't. But, that doesn't mean that they don't have what it takes to lead a kingdom. This has been proven time and time again, as many Disney princesses have gone from rags to riches overnight. Although it's true that the majority of Disney princesses were born with a crown on their head, every single one of these ladies has a special story to tell. Whereas some princesses wish they were nothing more than common folk, others wish they could lead their country without needing a husband by their side.
Disney does an amazing job at creating inspirational princesses who know their right from wrong. These characters go above and beyond to save their world and manage to succeed with a little help from their friends. If there's one thing that Disney has taught us, it's that a golden heart never fails to shine near and far.

In the Disney version, which is what we're talking about, yes. In the original story, the dark fairy curses her kingdom to sleep along with her. Maybe it was a mistake of the version.

I've studied so many, I can't remember which version comes from where, but rather just the order of there versions and their story plots. The original Sleeping Beauty dates back as far as the book "Perceforest," but several versions came after. I do know that the first to involve the fairies was neither Grimm nor Perrault. Think of it as I remember historical events, but not the dates. Same concept. I remember the story plots and the order of oldest to newest, but I can't remember authors and titles, I'm sorry. I could re-research if it'll help.

(Also side note: I actually think that Amulet of Avalor did help Sophia channel her good heart to defeat Vor... I just don't see how there could be any other explanation to why it let Vor pull her in when she was being trapped...)

Giselle isn't a princess by marriage or birth, based on the Disney adaptation Meg is a princess by marriage, Elena is a princess by birth, Esmeralda isn't a princess by birth or marriage,

Anna , Elsa and Moana are the only princesses who they are the dearest friends of the official Disney princess line up in addition of Vanellope and Elena of Avalor .
Sofia and Jane are not considered like that though Sofia met almost every disney princess .
Jane was officially planned to be a Disney princess but due to her physical appearance to Belle in brown hair and yellow dress they removed her .
That did not stop Belle DESPITE THE "Sherri Stoner" connection with Ariel The film did NOT do what it was supposed to do Hence why no Kida or Elionwy Gisele Amy Adams is/was a diva in short wanted more money from merchandise (NOT UNREASONABLE BUT we are dealing with Disney here the company that DOES NOT share the wealth in the conventional sense)

Pocahontas and Moana are the daughters of the chiefs, that does not translate to them being royal. Its like no one takes notice anymore.
Disney accepted a somewhat looser definition in their cases. We saw Moana as a chieftess in training, and therefore the future leader of her people. She was born "royal". Even though Moana might not think of herself as a princess, she is looked upon as the next leader, so it's enough of a fit for the Disney Princess line.

If you're not born in royalty and are married into it then you're a princess or prince by marriage, that's all! My favorite is mulan, repunzel, and Pocahontas. Pocahontas married Jon Rolfe the wealthiest tobacco plantation owner, but their marriage was just for diplomatic reasons back then. I know this because the American branch of the Rolfe family are the Roberts, that's my mother's family!
