    There are two kinds of people: people who wish the stock springs were stiffer, and people who wish the stock springs were softer

    Yep nope someday you will learn, just like I did, flex isn't everything. Something just beautiful about how a decently tuned droop setup performs.
    The floppy flex extension just doesn't do it. Might as well not even have shocks.
    Pen springs under shock piston, and light spring on the outside. Or skip the pens. You ever just go to a hardware store and look through the drawers of springs? I can find any spring, any size, any compression strength.

      Very true. I just did a warthog scx24 build using stock shocks and it's my best performer. Just amazing. I like the articulation for the fun factor, but for my real performance focused rigs I don't go to that extreme.

      I know I'm considered old school at this point but if I recall from my original AX10 and XR10 days a crazy amount of flex is not everything nor desired.

    I guess its ok, im more into the scale aspect of it not belly draggin comp crawlers. I got a trx4m k10 hightrail. Took some stickers off. Threw some injora shafts, crawl gears,hobby park shocks no springs and a couple drops of 20wt to lube the pistons and the injora servo with mount. Looks like a real k10 on a 6 inch lift. Im looking for a decent deckover be it bumper pull or modified 5th wheel for it.

    Not a lot of Traxxas left on that thing. Looks sick though. :D
    I know how that goes. I just built myself an "SCX24". It has a total of three Axial parts on it. Rear body mount and the gears in the rear axle. Eveything else is non-Axial. Is it even an SCX24 at that point? :p

    • @CapeCrawlers
      @CapeCrawlers  ปีที่แล้ว

      So true. There’s only 3 traxxas parts left I think!

  • @jamescrud
    @jamescrud ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Shock absorbers dampen the rebound from the springs. If you have no springs at all the shocks serve no purpose. Why do you have them on? That link in between the shock and axle is also useless.

    • @CapeCrawlers
      @CapeCrawlers  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They are still oil filled, which provides some dampening. But they're basically dual limiting straps. The link between the shock and axle gives it more drop but also allows the back end to sit lower because it positions the shock behind the axle.

    I got a question. I got 59mm shocks from Injuro hoping to get a similar setup as yours. but Im running no springs on the shocks so when I compress the socks, they don't go back to full extension, I have to forcibly do it myself. I notice that your shocks are moving freely, any tips?
