  • Ride with us from Dornoch to Ballater in the Cairngorms through sunshine, heavy rain, past castles and ski fields to Edinburgh. Pipers, craft beer, Greyfriar's Bobby, Sir Walter Scott's funny hat - it's all here! The final day's ride from Scotland to the Lake District and the sleepy town of Cockermouth in Wordsworth country. A beautiful end to our fantastic NC 500 trip!
Please give us a thumbs up if you enjoyed our video! Thanks for watching!

Ahh, the Lakes - I went to boarding school in Keswick for 3 yrs - 76 to 79 (1976 that is before anyone asks me to clarify which century..) my favourite part of England and I took my wife up there for us to get married in 2003.
76 was the long hot summer so when I got there in Sept we still had glorious weather right up to November (ironically we had snow in the Easter of that yr).
I was lucky enough to climb Scafell Pike 3 times, swim across Derwentwater, do Catbells and all the other main fells in the area during my school yrs there.
Also met Joss Naylor (famous fell runner) and his daughter was in my class at school - when we arrived at our b and b where we stayed for our wedding, I was amazed to find that she was the owner!!
    Happy days indeed.

Yes the Lakes are beautiful 😀 I remember 76 very well, I was a student Loughborough ! Hottest summer ever 🥵 - also remember Joss Naylor too 🏃🏻 !

How lucky were you guys with the weather! How spectacular those roads are! There is nothing like winding your way through a ribbon of a road through amazing scenery and with zero traffic. We are blessed to be able to do that where we are too. Our little town is classed as being "in the middle of everywhere".

Well, that brought back memories of our trip in June. We headed back from Inverness to stay with friends just outside Edinburgh. Stopped in the same bakery in Grantown on Spey for a cuppa. I have always loved the road from there to Tomintoul and Cockbridge, especially over the Lecht. There's a brilliant cafe in Tomintoul called the "Old Fire Station" which is just across the road from the whiskey shop (Huge range of single malts). We stopped for lunch in the Angus Hotel in Blairgowrie before continuing down to Edinburgh. It seems we had better weather though.

Hi guys - thankyou for a brilliant trip. We have driven in and around Scotland a few time over the years. We drove the NC500 in 2019. Walked the Great Glen and the Spey River. I would love to tour there on my R1200RT. My Grandmother was born in Grantown. Cheers from Alan in Australia.

Just finished binge watching your Scotland tour, and enjoyed every minute of it. As you know I am a new subscriber and catching up on your back catalogue while the weather is a tad grim. We were going to do a three week European tour for my 60th but Covid and a heart attack put that on the back burner. After watching your tour we’ve decided to give this a go early spring next year, hopefully the whole Covid thing will have calmed down, fingers crossed. Take care .

Watched the whole series on Xmas night (nothing worth watching on TV) have done part of the this route on my bike but hope to do the full tour in the near future, scenery brilliant. have stopped in the Dornoch hotel and was not impressed at all, food was disgusting? The room and furniture were really dated but the rest of the week we toured made up for it. Excellent videos.

Hi . Just finished watching your Devon Dorset trip. Again great video. I love Dorset. I worked down in Poole many years ago. Packington tiles in Poole just across the bridge just past the Potter arm pub. I don't think it there any more. I came back up the the north east . Started working for ici north tees works. Did 21 years for them. But sad ici no longer .just like the ship yards. I would luv to see you doing a trip to the D day landing beaches. Hope to see more of your great video soon. I like them as you both point out the history of same of the place you visit. Takecare of yourself and ride safe. By of now. Ps sorry about same of the spelling in my last message.

@@midlifemotorcyclediaries good security too. When the bike is fully loaded it would take twenty minutes to unlock the panniers and carry them into the coffee stop.. A good coffee is awesome but returning to the steed and finding some thieving toe rag has robbed the paniers would be soul destroying.
