Engine compartment hot is way different then a check engine light. Engine compartment light turns on when you open the hood on bmws that are up to operating temp.
There is a warning of "engine compartment warm" that comes on when the engine is hot and the hood is open. I learned this when it happened to me, and I called the dealer. It there to warn the person before they stick their hands in the engine bay.
Compartment hot is just a basic safety warning when the engine is warm after driving and you immediately open the hood. George has had hundreds of BMWs and never seen this? Lol

There is a warning of "engine compartment warm" that comes on when the engine is hot and the hood is open. I learned this when it happened to me, and I called the dealer. It there to warn the person before they stick their hands in the engine bay.
Worse thing is when a mate comes along, knows nothing, but rambles like a pro !

Man I wished I lived in the US. Here in Australia, a V10 2017 R8 with similar miles would go for about $180K USD at least.
Compartment hot is just a basic safety warning when the engine is warm after driving and you immediately open the hood. George has had hundreds of BMWs and never seen this? Lol
