I didn't get TBH+C when it released but the more I listen to it the more I love it, it just keeps growing on me, geniunenly one of my favourite albums along with their debut
I don't agree with a lot of these takes but I respect your opinion and I see your points in some cases. Really enjoyed this vid

i get why tranquility base hotel & casino is so polarising but having been a fan of them since whatever people say i am, tbh&c is hands down my favourite arctic monkeys album. the space lounge vibes of it just hit so right for me, the thematic consistency in its lyrics, the overall instrumentation and songwriting. its not a particularly exciting album but its the most cohesive album experience in their discography in my opinion.

For me it goes something like this:
1. Whatever People Say I Am - 9/10 I agree with everything you said
2. Favourite Worst Nightmare - 8/10 I think this one is a very formulaic, but enjoyable release. The production is a bit bland, instrumentation somewhat muted, but the songwriting is there and is memorable IMO
3. Humbug - 6/10 This one is the biggest mixed bag for me. I love the sound, I think most songs have 1 or 2 great ideas, some great high points in the song, but so much of it falls flat be it due to annoying song structure or annoying lyrics.
4. Suck It and See - 4/10 Even the "high points" are only enjoyable when heard from a mall speaker
5. AM - 6/10 Just like with humbug, a massive mixed bag. I enjoy the stripped back minimalistic sound and think it has some fantastic highlights. But also this album has just abysmal lows like I Wanna Be Yours and Mad Sounds.
6. Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino - 7/10 Easily my second favorite album of theirs conceptually and stylistically. I love Alex's ramblings on tracks like Star Treatment and American Sports and think the band knocked it out of the park with instantly memorable singles like Four out of Five and the title track. However, She Looks Like Fun is up there with Mad Sounds with being among the most egregious songs the band has ever penned.
7.The Car - 6/10 ngl I listened to it few times and don't really remember much other than it being pleasant while its on. Its an okay throwback album and nothing more. Fails at having a theme as captivating as Tranquility Base to make it worth coming back to.
So my ranking would go:
1. Whatever 2. Nightmare 3. Hotel 4. AM 5. Humbug 6. The Car 7. Suck
Disagree with most of this but still a really interesting and entertaining watch. Nice one mate

3. Humbug - 7/10
4. SIAS - 6.5/10
5. AM - 5/10
6. TBH&C 4/10
7. The Car - 2/10
Yes, i genuinely believe every single album they've released has been worse than the one before. They still occasionally release decent songs (Body Paint is one I actually really enjoy from The Car, for example), but imo humbug was the last time they had an album where more than half the tracks were good
AM starts with a couple of bangers, has a strong ending but the middle session is kinda dull, feels the same and drags for too long
Oh, and my ranking:

4) Humbug

my ranking would be very diffrent as artic monkeys are my favoute band but I will agree that WPSIATWIN is the best one

Your analysis on TBH&C is spot on. I think Alex himself is what's kinda ruined the Monkeys after AM. He's gone too verbose and waffley with his lyrics. They were just about enough on AM and they worked, but he's gone off the deep end. I disagree with Big Ideas being the worst track on The Car though. I think it's the best!
