Good overview. I'm a 'crocheter' who sometimes knits. My Entrepeneur grandmother taught me both as a child - so long ago I don't even know how old I was. Within the last few years, I decided to focus on crochet projects including small sections of knit embellishment. I gave away 99% of my knitting stash, needles and knitting books. But kept all the yarn, of course.
Knitting just frustrated me too much to go forward with larger garments (shawls and sweaters, etc.). For me it's easier to frog/rippit/rip out mistakes in crochet. Fixing mistakes in knitting was too time consuming. At my age [72], I want to spend my time having fun, rather than forcing myself to do something I don't really enjoy. So I'm ' Team CROCHET'. Since I discovered FreeFOrm Crochet, I'm much happier with my crochet! P.S. I would also mention to newbies that I find crochet to be a 'yarn hog' although more creative than knitting, IMO... tfs!
I totally understand that. I feel like I can let loose a little more with crochet, although I love the rhythm and finished fabric that knitting gives me. Frogging my knitting, especially if it's something that's taken me awhile, can be SO hard to do. I don't mind it at all with my crochet projects. It's just so easy to rip back those stitches and pick up wherever you need to.
You are SPOT ON. Enjoying what you're doing and relaxing is absolutely THE most important. 🩷 Ugh I just love these crafts!!! 💓😍
