    Ottawa is also a big high tech hub. I have been working in “Silicon Valley North” since 2000. The telecom boom in late nineties created the foundation for the hub. Very easy to land a job in high tech once you graduate. We have couple of fresh grads in my team.

    You jest about manifesting, but I am one of those that manifested my current life in Canada. Moved my boys and myself here a few years ago. I'd lived here previously for school, so only a few things were 'new' to me. So far, so good.

    University of Waterloo has an interesting co-op study program for its engineering/CS students. Instead of sending interns out just over the holidays (when everyone else does) the Waterloo co-ops go out on rotating fall (Sep-Dec)/winter (Jan-Apr)/spring (May-Aug) co-ops. That means a few years will have classes over the summer, but Waterloo co-ops tend to get better tasks given to them and therefore a better chance to show off their skills. The rotation is also set up so that participating companies have a Waterloo co-op all year. It sounds a little complicated, but it results in them getting better offers. It is a highly competitive school to get into.

    Saskatoon, Saskatchewan
    Lethbridge, Alberta
    Halifax, Nova Scotia

    These four cities are just as nice if not better choices. Besides the fact they're not close to Toronto or Montreal, which is a blessing.

      I went to post-secondary and live in one of those cities and one of my sisters in another. I personally know people (high school classmates) who now live in the other two. I would agree that these four cities are much better in terms of affordability and quality of life for someone who isn't wealthy or upper-middle class than the more famous Canadian cities. Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal, etcetera. If money isn't an issue personally Vancouver is my favourite to visit but I doubt I'd live there.
      I don't know how true this is overall and I'm sure it's not the case if you're in a university enclave, but I've heard that Quebec, which Montreal is in, is the most prejudiced/racist part of Canada.

    Winnipegger here! Yes winters are quite cold usually, though this year we have had many days above freezing cuz it’s an El Niño. We are also a short 2 hour drive to the Canadian Shield. Rugged cliffs and tons of lakes and forests! Winnipeg is a place where you can still buy a home even if you don’t earn a lot. I love it here because of the great people too. People tend to stay here for the people. And to escape winter we have a large bio dome with tropical plants with a waterfall, Mediterranean biome and butterfly habitat called the leaf

    This is an interesting video. It reminded me that a few years ago I had a small apartment building in Moncton NB I had a vacancy that I was filling and got an application from a fellow who claimed to be from South Or Central America ( Brazil I think). He wanted the room sight unseen and was arriving the next week. At first I was worried about a scam, but I held the room for him and true to his word he showed up. When he was settled I asked him what had brought him from Brazil to Moncton. He said that he was here to study at the technical school in Engineering which seemed strange to me but he explained that he already had some degrees in Engineering but that they were not in English or French which he explained meant that his qualifications were not considered good enough in some circles. So he said he decided to add to his qualifications at an English school to give himself some better credentials
    So of the countries to study in English, Canada seemed the least expensive and in Canada it was a lot cheaper to live in Moncton than Toronto and many of the other major centres in Canada and the Technical College in Moncton offered the courses he was looking for.
    So like the video says. If you are studying in Canada you might look at Schools in some of the smaller communities.

Only need to travel to Toronto or Montreal when shooting a specific location for a project. Your video is helping me (and creative friends) decide on working/living in a new affordable area. If you're studying engineering (especially chemical or petroleum engineering), I'd highly suggest University of Alberta in Edmonton. Beautiful campus right next to the river valley (the largest urban park in North America), walking distance to all kinds of nightlife, and a top rated program for engineering.
    Cost of living here is slightly less than that of Calgary, but it does get a little colder in the winter haha. There are also 3 or 4 more colleges located in the downtown core, as well as a large technical institute and a couple of Christian universities.
    It's very much a college city.

      How is the crime rate there ? is this safe place to live? how about calgary ?

    • @Al-kg4zs
      @Al-kg4zs 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@SubhaForever21 Both Edmonton and Calgary are quite safe, though Calgary does have a slightly lower crime rate.
      The area around the University of alberta is VERY safe, but it's also one of the more expensive areas in Edmonton. Downtown Edmonton has some issues with homelessness and property crime, but it's mainly concentrated on the Eastern edge of downtown - the areas west of downtown like Oliver and Grandin are quite nice and safe.
      The university area in calgary is kind of ugly and boring in my opinion, but there's not much crime to speak of. Downtown calgary is only a 15 minute train ride from the University, but it does have some issues with homelessness and crime. Not quite as much as downtown Edmonton though.

      I've lived here for the majority of my life and although it's far more expensive than it used to be (from the winter Olympics in 2010 on especially!) - it is by far the most beautiful city in Canada with the most temperate climate.... Although yes it does rain a fair bit from November till about march. But hey you're living in a rain forest! Lol. So if you can live somewhere and avoid having a car to commute you'll save a fair bit of money and headaches with traffic. But most of your money will go towards accommodations. I would say throw the '40% of your income towards a residence ' out the window. It can be a struggle, but if you have a good job lined up, and you're smart with your finances and know how to scrimp and be smart, it still is a great place to be! But be warned, it is still one of the most expensive cities on the planet, especially compared to what you'll (likely) earn. I hope it all goes well for you

    Québec City is beautiful and big enough to feel like you're in a substantial city. Of course, it isn't Montréal, and speaking French would be pretty necessary to really enjoy the city to the same extent as you would living in English in the rest of Canada.

    • @ThisisYulia
      @ThisisYulia  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree but as someone who’s been through Quebec immigration, I always say stay away from QC until you get your PR 🥴

      @@ThisisYulia Oh, sure, easier process to get PR outside of Québec.

    As a Canadian, not sure i could recommend coming here with cost of living sky rocketing. Some really nice Maritime cities were missed but good job. Maritimes often overlooked

    Calgary is absolutely right. I was shock by how affordable the houses here compared to Toronto.

      Problem with Calgary is that it's filled with folks from Texas and Oklahoma and those who wish they were. Horrible city.

    KWC is no longer less expensive than GTA.
    The prices here has increased significantly in terms of rents. Things have gone crazy if I might add.

    How much would you say is an average expense for students in Toronto for groceries per month without including rent and travel expense

    • @ThisisYulia
      @ThisisYulia  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'd say $1,500 + rent & bus pass 🚌

    Planning to study in Canada next year, particularly in Alberta, sadly most of the colleges there don't offer what i want , guess Ottawa might do it for me

      Ottawa is great for studying and you can always move to AB after you graduate 🤩

      What are you planning to study? Between U of Calgary, U of Alberta in Edmonton, U of Lethbridge, NAIT, SAIT, Mount Royal U, Concordia College, U of Athabasca and MacEwan University in Edmonton I thought Alberta covered almost everything in education. And U of Alberta in Edmonton is getting quite the reputation as an elite educational institution in Canada. It’s no Harvard or Stanford but is well respected.
