    My wife is from Kelowna and we currently live in the UK. We both can't wait to move to Kelowna in 6 years once my air force pension is available. Our kids will be 10 and 8 and we can't wait to be close to family and experience a much richer quality of life than what we have available in the UK right now! Thanks for the videos

      Why not stay in the UK? I heard life was pretty good over there. Kelowna is not what it once was. I hope you like looking at homeless encampments if you plan on moving there.

    Don't let this video fool you. I moved to Kelowna in 1996. I'm still here but leaving.
    Kelowna is turning into a dump. I always loved the slower pace of the Okanagan. Hot summers. Cool, beautiful lakes. Fruit stands. Attractions like water slides, Flintstones park, camp sites, go cart tracks, afordable skiing. . . . . ALL GONE.
    BIG city lower mainlanders and BIG city Calgaryarians have made Kelowna unrecognizable.
    "Hey we like it here. Let's change it."
    Sky scrapers are going up faster than they keep up with. High density 4 plex homes and apartments are going up everywhere. City council is getting carpal tunnel syndrome from rubber stamping these builds.
    The Okanagan valley is smaller than the lower mainland valley floor.
    The smog can't escape. We don't have the roadways to support this many people. It's become standstill gridlock. Homelessness has spun out of control. Ethnic/ culture clash is causing violence between groups. Drug dealing is rampant. Cars being stolen and broken into.
    This town is way past the tipping point. It's a manuer truck without brakes.
    I'm leaving in the fall.

      Everything you state is spot on 100 percent true. Kelowna's criminal activity is increased multi-fold and what is also most necessary to comment on is Kelowna's city council criminal minds with their constant criminal taxation hikes. City council and their socialist/communist like perverse progressiveness is gross negligence. Most of the political class in Kelowna and BC are mentally and spiritually challenged.

      Completely agree with everything you’ve said. I lived in Kelowna for over 20 years from when it was a wonderful place to be til recently when the city tripled in size and became unaffordable and inundated with homeless people in the downtown core which is very uncomfortable. I’m happy to have escaped Kelowna several years ago.

    I only go back to Kelowna now for Costco and then I escape as soon as possible and always before 2pm if I have any hope of getting across that underbuilt bridge. What were they thinking with only 2 lanes northbound and even 3 lanes southbound doesn’t cut it during rush hour.

  • @bradley7506

    Cons;
    Insane traffic with no highway bypass and no second lake crossing.
    Real estate prices regardless of what interest rates are available. Housing simply is not remotely affordable.
    An almost reliable summer of smoke every year from all the forest fires in BC.
    The large population of homeless people making it very uncomfortable to spend time in the downtown core.
    Pros;
    Beautiful scenery

    Great Video, you covered some of the areas attractive features. Also, you did not shy away from mentioning what I personally see as a very serious out of control problem, that being the Homeless roaming the downtown streets. You did forget the increase in Crime as well.

    • @curseitseth
      @curseitseth 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Well I mean that's cuz there homeless and rent is out of control. They are not the problem. Shouldn't you rephrase that as... "Prices, rent and landlords are out of control forcing people into homelessness for an extra buck" instead of "the homeless are out of control" so you don't sound biggoted. Crime goes up when wages are low and people can't find homes to live or places to rent.

    Overall a fair and accurate explanation of Kelowna. Minor things; the temp range in the summer is more like 25-35, not 30. And it should be noted that there can be a dozen or more days where it gets above that range. Winter has lots of cloud cover that affects people's mood. Cost of living, you could also add that property taxes from the City are some of the highest. Regarding the homeless issue, it would be prudent to add that this leads to a lot of theft crime. But again, these are all minor. The vibe of the city and ability to do almost anything in the city or area, all the sunshine; these are the main selling points for Kelowna IMO.

    I’ve lived in Kelowna for 5 years. It’s beautiful and there are many things to see and do. However Kelowna is a very expensive place to live and there are not many good paying jobs here unless you’re sent here for a specific job. Places to rent are far and few between with one bed apartments going for $2600 a month if you can even find one. It’s a beautiful place to live if you can afford it… unfortunately that’s a rare occurrence for most. Most people who move here are retired, or work online. I consider myself very lucky to live here.
