Watch and sing along with vocal coach Charmaine Brown as she takes you through a mix voice workout to free up your high range, and learn how to apply lyric pronunciation strategies to create maximum efficiency in your voice! In this tutorial, we’ll explore the song in the key of Db (original Bethel recorded key), but if you’re singing it in a different key, just apply these same principles!

    I took vocal lessons for years in my teens from a classically trained woman that was the soloist for the Italian symphony. ( let’s just say she was young then so probably around 1930’s?) but my voice always sounds too trained.
    Your lessons have really helped give me a natural more enjoyable quality already. I’m just so glad I found you as I’m starting to try join our worship singers in my new church.
    I’m finding my voice rather similar to yours which is extra helpful!

    Thank you for your great videos!
    I would love to see a video about ”stage presence” (for a lack of a better term). I am naturally very rigid and robotic. I can't help it. I was on the worship team and during a pre-service practice I felt good. One of the sound guys asked me if I was nervous or tense. I said no. But he said I looked pretty tense on stage. What can I do to seem more natural and not awkward and tense???
    Thank you!

      Hey Mike! Hoping to do some training on this topic in the future! For now, lots and lots of work in front of a mirror at home! Dance... let your body flop like a rag doll, move around... do MORE than you even think you should, and practice holding a microphone (a marker or anything will do haha!) while you do it. Watch videos of worship leaders with great stage presence and copy their moves as much as you can (again, at home in front of the mirror). We can't just "think" our way into a more relaxed/natural stage presence - we have to practice it intentionally!

    I just can’t sing “ No” without hearing a slight transition of my voice from chest to mixed. You sound so smooth n perfect, how can I do that like u? Help!

    • @worshipvocalist
      @worshipvocalist  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey! It's hard to say without hearing your voice, but usually the reason this happens is when a singer is carrying too much chest voice (mouth resonance) too high in their range. The goal is to have a mixed/blended tone throughout our WHOLE range, not just in the middle of our range. Think about slowly adding more pharyngeal resonance to your chest voice every note higher, instead of just adding it when you absolutely need it (right around the transition spot in the voice) - that's a recipe for hearing a discrepancy in tone!

    I raise a hallelujah, in the presence of my enemies
    I raise a hallelujah, louder than the unbelief
    I raise a hallelujah, my weapon is a melody
    I raise a hallelujah, heaven comes to fight for me

    Louder and louder, you're gonna hear my praises roar
    Up from the ashes, hope will arise
    Death is defeated, the King is alive!
    I raise a hallelujah, with everything inside of me
    I raise a hallelujah, I will watch the darkness flee
    I raise a hallelujah, in the middle of the mystery
    I raise a hallelujah, fear you lost your hold on me!
    I'm gonna sing, in the middle of the storm
    Louder and louder, you're gonna hear my praises roar
    Up from the ashes, hope will arise
    Death is defeated, the King is alive!
    Sing a little louder (In the presence of my enemies)

    Why is it that I can do the vocal exercises on pitch with urs...but as soon as I go to sing my throat closes in and it is not a joyful noises.....I know it's a phobia....but frustrated....either way though I love ur teaching style so glad I found u:)

      Yes, it is a very common issue and frustrating I know! The voice tends to default back to old habits, and the exercises need to be done consistently for weeks and months to re-train the voice into new habits.

    I have a question, how many hours can we sing continously in a day.
    Usually we practice worship songs for 3 to 4 hours on Saturday . On Sunday, we sing for 2 hours continously on 1st service and and after one hour gap, again for 2 hours continuous.
    Please advice

    • @worshipvocalist
      @worshipvocalist  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question! The voice is very capable of several hours of singing in a day, however, the more you sing, the more you must be diligent about having good vocal habits (singing correctly and taking care of your voice and body behind-the-scenes) as well as building vocal stamina through consistent vocal workouts throughout the week. Check out the workouts on my site - www.theworshipvocalist.com - if you haven't already! When you are in the long rehearsal, and in the services, one of the best things you can do for your voice is give it short breaks - often. Even just for 30-60 seconds, as the song transition is happening or other singers are singing the verse, being intentional to still engage in worship, but rest your voice. Even short periods of rest help reduce inflammation and keep the voice healthy.

      Colossians 3:16, “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.”
      Singing is a form of prayer and is worship. By singing, we can call onto God.

      cousinzbandmack yeah.. I hear you. But knowing bethel and where they are coming from, their mystical NAR shamanistic roots- they don’t worship the God of Israel. We just have to be carful as God wants to be worshiped in spirit and in truth. I don’t doubt that intentions are genuine on an individual basis though 💕 God bless

      The psalm were songs intended remind the people of Israel of who God is and what he can do. True worship is about pouring your heart out to God and he gifted us with music because it is a powerful tool to help us easily remember scripture and drowned out the voice of darkness which is what the song is talking about.
