I’ve never had vocal lessons but over the past few years I’ve watched Phil from live concerts and also videos online and have naturally adapted a similar style and range. He’s so unique and has such a beautiful voice
I actually love this song in Eb! Sounds amazing. Working on expanding range (lower and higher) really helps to have vocal freedom and sing in various keys.
i asked a voice teacher how to sing lower notes and her suggestion was sing early in the morning. it was absurd. thank you for actually knowing how to instruct singers to improve
Great tutorial! I like your strategies for modifying vowels by keeping an open mouth and your stylistic suggestions. Lots of really great stuff here! Amen to the point on leading our congregation well by honing our skill to reflect God’s glory!
I’ve always loved your tutorials. Just wanted to hop on here and say wow you look amazing!!! You looked amazing before but just wanted to say wow. I’ve watched you over time and I couldn’t help but notice it.
Hey Sharon! Thanks so much for the encouragement! It's been a two year journey, slow and steady of getting healthy, and I have so much more energy now!
Thanks!!!! I took vocal lessons at my local University back in the 80's....lol. I was having trouble singing this song, but now I got it with your vocal coaching. I'm (Lord willing) singing and leading worship at a new church I've been going to. So thanks for your vocal training help so I can REALLY praise and worship Jesus and help lead this congregation to do the same!!!
I'm so glad I found you!!🙏 You've helped me tremendously! I've always found it so hard to find someone who I sound like and was really starting to loose confidence in my unique sound. That was untill I first heard you..I was blown away with all the similarities in our voices! Its been so helpful practicing with you and finding my perfect keys for worship team. I let my husband listened to you last night, but didn't tell him I think we sing alike, he's very honest to say the least, but the first thing he said was, "you guys have the same singing voice!!" I almost cried!❤ I'm working on perfecting my pitch and getting to those high notes like you have perfected. Thank you so much for all your help!💛 You are a gamechanger!!
So cool that your husband thought so too! It's probably because we have a similar facial structure-that's often what makes singers sound alike! And so glad to hear the vocal tips have been helpful for you!
😮 you make me feel like i can actually sing this song! Thank you so much!! I just this song for the first time this past Sunday. I will have to get in my car to do those exercises…my husband will think something is wrong…lol.
Request: please do “Believe for it” by Cece Winans! Such a powerful song! Beautiful lyrics and overall message! Thank you for all you do! You’re amazing!!!!
Love your videos! I’ve learned so much from you :). I have a request if you could do Power of Your Love by Darlene Zschech in the future? I’ve been wanting to learn how to sing that song but it’s hard because of the high notes even in a lower key. Thanks and God bless! 🤍
Thank you so much! Learning a lot from you! God bless you more! May I also request a video tutorial for Another in the Fire (Taya, Hillsong, Lauren Daigle)... love that song so much! Advance thanks!
Great tutorial! Quick question: For songs of this kind of range, what do you recommend for a congregationally friendly vocal range that will allow most people to sing along and also enjoy the dynamic journey from the low to high range without having to artificially jump back and forth between octaves?
Hi Brad! I think that there’s no key that will be best for everyone - so the worship leader should choose what works well for them to lead confidently, and then the congregation can sing in whichever octave feels best!
@@worshipvocalist So, you say at about 3:50 not to raise the verse (essentially sing the song in one octave) because then it will lack dynamics, which I totally get. But, isn't this precisely what we're asking of the congregation ("the congregation can sing in whatever octave feels best")? So, are we not robbing the congregation of the very dynamic journey that is essential to the song? Why would we do this to the congregation? Sidebar: Charmaine, I know this isn't your responsibility. You're just trying to teach the vocals, and you do so wonderfully! You are a great resource to worship leaders! But I just can't wrap my head around congregational singing where the worship leaders get to enjoy the fullness of the song (if they have the chops, which isn't a guarantee especially in smaller churches), but the congregation is asked to compromise. They don't get to experience the full dynamics and emotional range of the song because they have to keep switching octaves. Isn't the point of congregational singing congregational singing? It's not you. You keep doing what you're doing cuz it's great. I just wondered if you as a vocal coach had any secrets to solve the dilemma of the both infamous and ubiquitous "octave jump" song . But I guess it is what it is.
@@dudabradc thank you so much for your kind, thoughtful response. I truly appreciate it! I love that you care so much about the congregation - that is absolutely our role, and you're right, this is a challenge with many of the popular songs today! You've given me some good things to think about!! Thank you!
Hello! I love your videos, and you have helped me in my singing tremendously! I do have a question though… Is it important to do a 15 minute warm-up before every vocal exercise, or does vocal exercising count as a warm-up to your voice?
Can you please do a video on how to sing "Let my life be the proof of your love " By Kings and country like the piano Version because the original seems loud but do I use the same way in the piano version? I get mixed up
Thank you for the tutorial! this is great stuff! Quick Question, How would you pick a key for both men and women? I realize it may be challenging for this specific song, but do you have any general suggestions for worship music?
I don't recommend choosing a key that will work for everyone, because it's not possible! The best strategy is to choose the key that works best for the person leading the song. Others can choose to sing on par with them, up or down the octave, on harmony, etc.!
Hello Charmaine, in ever new Tutorial I'm asking myself, how you loss so much weight 😅 can you tell us more about that? 😂 you're looking sooo good, greets from Germany😘😘
Haha thanks so much! I'll probably share in a future video! But the coles notes is - I went 100% plant based, whole foods, and started limiting portions (I was a food addict so without controlling portions I would just eat and eat!).
@@worshipvocalist that is awesome!!! I am a new subscriber but to see the difference in your transformation is inspiring. I hope you make a video about it. My wife and I have been plant based for 5 years.
I been singing only couple years, I can sing all these songs in original key, I sing baratone and suprano , how is this possible?? The praise team leader didn't want me to sing cuz it exposed his vocal weaknesses, so where do I sing now? It's the same every church I sing at, the worship pastors seem unsecure, I've spent alot of time training and I feel like I'm pushed aside
@@worshipvocalist yeah, just sweep it under the rug, that's what everyone says, but we won't talk about the elephant 🐘 in the room, might hurt their feelings
Usually that's a sign of pushing up too much chest voice - which is unhealthy and fatiguing for the voice. Ideally we want to aim to sing in a mix of resonance!
I got Goosebumps when you started Singing :) thank you for making a TH-cam channel!

You look so good! Haven't watched in a while. ❤️ God bless! Thank you for this! I want to use my gift but I need a lot of work I'm too pitchy
