Thank you for these tips. I have been using these techniques as a part of my warm ups. I can tell a huge difference. I feel better and can sing longer and stronger.
Am so glad to be part of your family. Am learning so much from you. It has taken me a long time to get to where I am right now and know with these lessons am gonna get even better. God bless you. Am leading "Reckless love| this Sunday and am confident with all the information that you have taught on the same.
This video is amazing! Thank you for sharing your knowledge, I have been working with mixed voice for close to 7 years and for 3 years of that practice, i was pushing my sound too much because i studied classical and for some reason I started to push my voice in all genres after that so i didnt truly experience the relaxed almost settling in the mix feeling until this year because i quit classical and started studying pop 2 years ago which is what i shouldve done to begin with. Anyways, this video has taught me so much more and I’m so excited to improve more and more! 🤩
Great question! I do talk about this in my online courses, so I would encourage you to get a subscription to www.theworshipvocalist.com if you don't already have one! But I will put this on a list of potential future topics!
@@worshipvocalist I would like to take your course but I need it on Spanish-speaking, cause that is what we sing. Can you suggest any other courses like yours??
so trying to figure out how to ask a question about a song tutorial and this video is what i picked. can you do a tutorial on Love Like This from the BelongingCo. thanks!❤
Love your explanation..you have really deep understanding of this mechanism.May i have an online lessons with you? And where can I book it and pls tell me the price.Thank you!!
Hi Irina! I don’t offer private lessons, but I would recommend that you book with a coach that I have trained in my methodology - Cherie Schellenberg. You can find the details @ www.worshipvocalist.com/lessons
Wow I just tried your exercise.. I hardly ever have that much power in that range!! My tendency is to choose songs in a high key so I can have more punch in my head voice. Then probably like F and lower I switch to mixed or chest but typically don’t bring my mixed voice up higher than that. It didn’t feel like I was necessarily straining and it sounded pretty smooth but my throat felt tired/slightly sore after. Is that cause I’m just not used to it?
It’s most likely that it’s just a new thing for your voice (and so your voice should get comfortable with it over time)! But also - best to warmup the voice before doing big vocal exercises!
I really enjoy your training! It has taught me so much! So thank you! I do have a question about where I am trying to sing more contemporary rather than classical. Like for instance. I am trying to not sing in my head voice when I sing above middle C. I am trying to sing in the " mixed voice". However, it doesn't feel comfortable. The songs I am working on is Goodness of God and King of Kings in D major. The chorus and bridge of the songs. I would love to see a video of how I can transition my voice to sing in that mixed voice. Does this question make sense?
Hi Bonnie! For sure! I would definitely recommend you go through my Discover Your Voice course on www.theworshipvocalist.com because I teach this exact thing! But also check out my "Goodness of God" and "King of Kings" song tutorials on my TH-cam channel because I give tips for singing in a mix in those songs!
9:41 I thought the first one sounded better and the second one too heavy-sounding. Is the "buh" voice sounds heavier and fuller, I guess, but is it supposed to sound better? Maybe it's just my preference?
Thank you Charmaine. But I have one big problem with high notes. For example, when I'm singing a chorus with high notes, the first time I can hit those high notes, but when I have to repeat again that same chorus, I fail. I can't keep it up. What can I do? Please help me.
Hey! It sounds like you're singing with too much tension in your higher range. I would recommend you begin a vocal workout training plan to build your range and release tension!
I don't get it.. when i try to sing with my pharyngeal resonance it cracks. when i try to not pull up chest voice , it sounds weak. can you record video only about Pharyngeal resonance.. how to sing with power.. do you use TWANG?
Hey! I’m not planning to do a tutorial on that one but I recommend that you go through my online courses as they will teach you how to apply these techniques to any song!
Hey! We lighten up the voice by changing where the resonance/buzz is happening-by moving it higher in the face (higher in the head cavity) the tone of the voice naturally lightens.
Hey! You’ll need to work on diaphragmatic breathing techniques as well as singing with the correct resonance to make things more efficient for your voice.
Can't keep the larynx "down" in a higher range. I can see your larynx rising with the notes. You're singing with your diaphragm not your throat, when you sing well.
Hey Wayne! You can keep the larynx slightly lowered in the high range-but you’re right, it doesn’t stay all the way down. But in mix voice training, our goal is to keep it from jumping way up in the throat and causing tension. Support from the diaphragm is important, and also healthy vocal cord/laryngeal technique.
Thank you so much for these vocal coach videos! Hope you keep making more videos like this, we appreciate your time and talent!!!
You're welcome! Glad to help!

This is very Helpful for me. I struggle with my lower range. I will definitely practice using this method. Thanks!
Glad to help!
Wow. this is super helpful for me😍 thank you for your tips Charmaine.. it's so challenging..🙌😍
You’re welcome!
Nice tips, I practice head voice more than chest voice, 3 hours a day! I'm hooked on higher registers ,it pushes your limits for growth
3 hours is excessive for most people-just make sure to listen to your voice and always stop if it's feeling tired or strained.
@@worshipvocalist it's been good, I practice alot of expressions to, different styles and tones

Hey! Thanks for the suggestion - perhaps in the future!
WOW, what a difference it makes. I can actually hit the note without straining myself.

Thank you so much this helps alot...I guess I been singing wrong all my life lol God bless you
Most of us have bad habits to correct but with diligent practice you can develop new vocal habits! :)
How do I add myself to these videos so I can be part of the live videos?
Hey! You can join my Tribe Live group @ www.theworshipvocalist.com/tribe-live - hope to see you there!
Can I ask do you think these techniques work for people with an Australian accent as well?
I’ve heard from Australians that they work well!!
9:41 I thought the first one sounded better and the second one too heavy-sounding. Is the "buh" voice sounds heavier and fuller, I guess, but is it supposed to sound better? Maybe it's just my preference?
Hey! Different tonal qualities are just that-different! And very much subjective, so it's natural that you may prefer one sound over another!

im confused when you change fro chest to head on the piano like when you say lighten up how do you lighten your voice

How I can get lessons with you ? Solange

How do I sing 'forever' without running out of breath and with ease 🥲
I can hit it but im not consistent, i run out of breath then i strain,
Hey! You’ll need to work on diaphragmatic breathing techniques as well as singing with the correct resonance to make things more efficient for your voice.
Is this all SLS, Seth Riggs?
Based on SLS principles yes, but I am not an SLS coach.
hahah dope
