Man alive, I could kiss you.....I've been chasing a solution to this problem for weeks ... going down endless fruitless internet forum and you tube rabbit holes and yours is the only one that really works. Many, many thanks.
OMG.. I so appreciate your tutorial. I tried everything to no avail. My DVR is not a Hikvision but looks to be about the same. Fingers crossed. Thanks again.
Wow, I've been fighting this problem for two weeks. I've watched many of your videos, I just stumbled upon this video. I was able to verify an unused camera still works. Thank you.
I have had a problem with being able to view and save recordings ever since IE 11 and none of the modern browsers even edge with the changes you suggested would work at all. I was almost to the point of giving up when I stumbled upon the browser called "K-Meleon", it works for my local network just like I need it. I can now agian use this browser to do all I need to with my Swann DVR8-8075. Thanks for your video, I don't what in it made me thing to just try another browser but I did.
Thank you for this! Worked like a champ for viewing video. However, I still cannot download image files from the camera. Do you know of a way to make this work?
I still work directly on my IE browser, but as apposed to earlier, I can now not see images any more. Has IE update a security protocol to block even the Hik-plugins? What can I do to IE to get my images to show again?
You have to do the process every 30 days in the settings of the browser. Re add the IP address which is a pain in the butt. Most cameras now have a firmware update thought, and if you upgrade the firmware of the hardware it will work in Edge.
I dont think Microsoft has a plan for that, however, if you keep up with firmware upgrades the CCTV manufacturers should catch up to Microsoft Edge. Dahua already has, Hikvision isn't as good with making hardware compaitble with browsers. It will take them a while....
I have not been able to get any of this to work, but thanks for posting the info. Apparently it has worked for lots of people. However, if you install these cameras all the time, you should know how to pronounce them. It's HIGH-kvision with a hard I.
It worked as advertised but expires in 30 days. I found you can change the policy to be greater. I'm not sure if this is the correct item and default is 30 days. Search the information below may be helpful. 'Specify the number of days that a site remains on the local IE mode site list'
I can now see my cameras on my dvr, BUT it is only going to work for 30 days according to what the message says. Better than nothing but still a pain. Any ideas. I am assuming I have the latest version of windows 11 since it is on a brand new Microsoft surface.
Yes, that is a pain in the butt. It has to be adjusted every month. Depending on the age of the DVR, they are doing firmware upgrades that allow for the hardware to be viewed in Edge now without having to use legacy mode. Try updating the DVR firmware and you may be able to avoid the issue all together.
Followed the instructions (on a Windows 10 PC), but get a line at the top of the Edge browser saying "Internet Explorer can't be found. You need to reinstall or re-enable Internet Explorer." Haven't Microsoft being removing IE from Windows 10 recently? If so, how do I get around this?
Unfortunately this does no work for me. Hikvision NVR with 5MP TVI camera with IR. Newer system installed less than 1 year ago. I follow your steps and refresh Edge but do not see "new message in toolbar Internet Explorer Mode".
Try rebooting the PC itself. I have had to do that once. On another note, how did you hook a TVI camera up to an NVR? To the best of my knowledge TVI cameras work with Hikvision Turbo DVR's, not network video recorders.
Thanks for the vid. I've followed your instructions to the letter and still can't get anything displayed. No error, just a black box where the video should be. It doesn't even work in IE11 on the same PC, but does on another PC. That would suggest that the first PC is messed up in some way but it's pretty vanilla. I wonder if the plugin conflicts with another one, or even other codecs. If I find a solution I'll post it here.
Hi - followed all your steps and once I restarted Edge, my cameras 'names' are appearing, but still black screens where I should be seeing the live views. When I select a camera on the left, a message comes up "The stream is encrypted. Please go to the local configuration interface to set the encryption key and restart live view." Any advice?
That has nothing to do with the browser. That is a security feature of the NVR. Go into configuration. Then pick local. You should see an encryption area with a password in it. You can change that to whatever you want and the first time you log into Hik-Connect or a browser it is going to prompt you for that key. It is a security feature.
Yes the upgrade doesnt effect SADP or IVMS. I still use them everyday no problem. The only issue was pulling up Hikvision Equipment through edge, because with Windows 11 there is only Microsoft Edge, they did away with explorer. So you have to go into the browser settings of edge and enable legacy mode (explorer compatibility). I did a video on that too.
Did everything as you suggested, The page opens in IE mode. But I still keep getting the "install plugin message. I am on Windows 11 (Home) What could be going wrong?
Go here and install the plug in. us.hikvision.com/en/support-resources/downloads/tools You may have pop up blocker on and it is blocking you from betting the prompt from explorer. You also need to reboot once downloaded. Try that.
@@WentworthCCTV Thank you for the prompt response. I couldn't find any appropriate plug-in in the link that you provided. I disabled the popup blocker (in internet options) and rebooted. Problem continued I brought down the security level to medium. Same problem. IE is operating in "protected mode". There is NO Checkbox to disable that in "Internet options" Finally, I succeded with chrome browser using your next video on this subject, th-cam.com/video/-SySAiQLTiY/w-d-xo.html Since this works, the problem is apparently not due to plug-in.
@@kpsisai7153 I am having the exact same experience you are. I have even tried running Edge in admin mode and doing the plug-in installation in admin mode. Still doesn't work. I don't see any plug-in on that linked list either.
The page you add expires every month, rather inconvenient. Also, the Hikvision plugin requires elevated permissions and prompts you every time it runs after login. This is not possible if you have non-admin domain users that need to view the cameras. Hikvision's browser support is absolutely terrible!!
Often times the Hikvision NVR will prompt you to download a plug in when you try to log in with a browser. Did you download that. And once you do, you will need to close out of the browser completely and go back in. The process definitely works.
I am not sure what settings you are referring to. The camera should retain all settings. It is possible your camera is in DHCP, so if it reboots the IP address could change if so, go into internet settings and change DHCP ot static.
It depends on the administrator rights on the computer and it's domain. If it is a corporate computer than they may have it set so that you can not set the expiration date any longer than 30 days for functions like this.
I would make sure you install the plug in if it asks and then reboot the PC. As you can see by previous comments, it does work for just about everyone. If you are still having issues after that, please comment I will try to help further.
The video was made using Windows 11. Depending on how old your NVR is, you may still need to install the plug in and reboot the PC before logging in with Edge.
DUDE!!!!! Thank you... Not sure how to private message you but when you pasted the IP into the settings, the full IP address was revealed. Please edit the video for your safety and then delete my comment.

We do more Dahua and depending where you are in the country/ world people pronounce things differently. In New England we also so CAH not car.
Thank you so much for the help! However, may I ask, how do you extend it to a year, instead of just one month at a time (adding of the URL)
Hi. That works great but the expiry date is a bummer. It might be easier to just open a tab in IE mode and then enter your IP address.
Yes it stinks they are rolling out a firmware upgrade soon to fix
Oh Man you made my Day and you helped with almost 300$ to pay for IT , thanks Man

Today two professionals IT 's couldn't fix this issue in my office , tomorrow I gonna do and try it by myself
This will do it

I do know that some anti virus programs block the plug in. Some PCs have to reboot after adding the IP address of the hardware too.

This doesn't work in all instances. Good try though.
What instance does it not? We do it everyday. What kind of Hikvision camera model do you have?

That is a discountinued model, so it has old firmware. It should tell you it needs a plug in to work. Did you do that and run the executable file?
