Hikvision and Dahua are both manufactured in China. That accounts for a large majority of surveillance equipment available in the USA as they OEM for companies like ADT. They are no different than the I phones and smart TV's that are also made in China. Any networked equipment should have the admin password changed. You should protect your network with a firewall. Those types of basic security steps are essential. Many people disable P2P functions by serial number due to those types of concerns as well. In 17 years of doing this, I have never heard of one of our networks being "hacked" because of Hikvision cameras.
As Hikvision is a Chinese product, are they able to access your cameras without your knowledge? If so how do you prevent this?
