Really excited for this one, Jonesy. I'm sure you'll find it enjoyable. This one is widely regarded as the most serious of all the GTA games. It gets a bit deep and dark, but still has plenty of the humorous satire too.

I just started playing GTA IV a week ago so glad to see you doing a playthrough! I like the characters too and am getting into the story. Driving was sketchy at first but now I am used to it and ripping around corners.
The best story in the GTA series, IMO. You gotta play the add-ons after. The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony. Some of the best DLC's ever released, back when Rockstar actually cared about making DLC's worth the money rather than making Shark Cards ugh I'm here for it!!!! Also, the driving for people is either a hit or miss. I personally love it, the cars handle more realistically and once you master it, the driving can be very fun!
Gta 4 my god that game will live in my heart forever i remember having to delete everything on my pc just to install it,but it was worth it i remember talking about it with my friends in school all day about it, and once i hooked up with a girl who was a huge gta fan aswell, it was like full circle moment for me

In the First mission, Roman was telling Niko that he gambles a lot & is in debts with Russians & Albanians. He also mentioned his gambler friends call him "The Janitor", to which Niko Replies in innocence: "Because you can't pay their debts & they make you sweep their floors, so they name you Janitor?"😂😂 To which Roman Nods and says: "because I sweeps the card game so quick & swift, hence I'm nicknamed The Janitor" and Niko Replies: "I hope your Cards are better than your nicknames"😂😂 So you see, driving hastily, what enjoyment you're missing?

I think there's a lot more to GTAV in terms of scale but I really stuck with this one which is rare for me (I haven't even played GTAV singleplayer...), so that must mean something. Always great to explore a game with you and this one was no exception. So nice that you are playing this, it is one of my favorite GTA games :) Niko only appears in lifeinvader in GTA5, though you get several characters, IIRC you did not get packie, you killed him, so this is the only one I will spoil, Packie is the guy from the Pharmacy that IIRC you killed, the one that was robbing it, he appears in the game, then there are several other minor characters that appear as strangers and freaks and some also from GTA4 DLCs(Which I hope you play as well, the dude Trevor smashed with his foot is from the bikers dlc) Roman's so funny, he's gotta be my favorite supporting character in a video game so far

You are thinking of Johnny the biker. Niko is still alive according to his LifeInvader Page living in Liberty City. I’m shocked Jimmy from GTA 5 knows Niko. If you look at Jimmy’s Laptop there’s a Niko reference. Unfortunately Niko’s Actor won’t be in GTA ever again because Rockstar refuses to pay him more. Even though there is a rumor that Niko Bellic will be in GTA 6 I find that very unlikely because GTA 6 takes place in Vice City Miami.
Liberty City is very much a parody of New York City and Jersey City. Liberty City has four boroughs Algonquin the middle island with all the large Skyscrapers is based on Manhattan. Broker on the right island and the area you start the game is based on Brooklyn with Kings on top this based on Queens. The small island above Kings and to the East of North Algonquin is Bohan based on Bronx. These four boroughs have around 56 individual and unique neighbourhoods based on real life New York neighbourhoods. And last is the large island to the west known as Alderney based on the State of New Jersey, Newark and Jersey City. Alderney is it's own State known as State of Alderney while Liberty City is within The State of Liberty so technically this game features two states. In terms of history it's very similar to New York starting out as a Dutch trading post called New Rotterdam while New York was known as New Amsterdam so. It's safe to say that New York City does not exist in the GTA universe at least the HD universe (GTA IV, GTA V, GTA VI) of games but I could see it existing in the 3D universe. Liberty City 3D Universe: The 3D Universe (GTA lll, Vice City, San Andreas) Liberty City though is very different featuring a layout based on a range of American cities such as New York City, Philadelphia, Detroit, Baltimore and even parts of Edinburgh, Scotland. it also featured boroughs with different names and layouts for example Staunton Island, Portland, and a really cool residential area called Shoreside Vale based on upstate areas of New York but also inspired by any East Coast and Midwestern city areas. This map was also connected to the mainland with a tunnel leaving the city but was blocked off from the player while Liberty City in GTA IV seems to be off the coast like Los Santos. Summed it the 3D Liberty City felt like it's own city that could exist alongside New York city for example similar to Gotham City. While GTA IV's Liberty City is solely based on New York and acts as an in universe replacement. Why is there two Liberty Cities? Well Rockstar decided to reboot the series with GTA IV so any changes to locations wouldn't effect the past games. Originally GTA IV was going to include the whole State of Liberty and parts of Alderney State from the city of Liberty City to up state New York towns and smaller cities with forests and mountain ranges to the coast line. But they went back to focusing solely on a city setting instead of going overboard. GTA VI seems to be set in Vice City and looking at the leaked footage it seems that Rockstar are going this route with GTA VI having a main city but also towns and smaller cities taking place in a large slice of the State of Florida similar to what they planned with GTA IV. Yes Florida is known as Florida in the GTA universe which I find pretty funny. No doubt Vice City will replace Miami like how Liberty City replaces New York City. Miami does exist in the 3D universe though as you can find billboards saying "Move Over Miami" throughout Vice City hinting that Vice City was created to steal tourism from Miami. But for the HD universe I can see Rockstar just placing Vice City where Miami should be along with all the other towns and cities around Vice City having their own fictional counterparts. After GTA lll Rockstar went for the parody of real world city route so every game after GTA lll is designed around a single city but fictionized into a parody of the real location. In the case of GTA SA it's three different parody cities.
I haven’t played gta4 in such a long time oml, I remember so much that I had forgotten already in this first episode, I do know this, since the oppressor mk2 has been introduced, there’s no way they can throw us into gta6 without something like that, make it to where you can’t shoot other players with it, just the flying everywhere is such a time saver

Fun fact GTA V is the only GTA game to feature the map fully opened to the player from the start. Every GTA game since GTA 3 has had a lore reason why you couldn't cross bridges into the next part of the city for example Vice City had a storm warning so the bridges were closed off for safely reasons while GTA San Andreas only allowed you to explore Los Santos but you couldn't travel into the countryside or to the other two cities or you'd get a full wanted level.

Jonesy in the settings you can turn off the handbreak camera it’s broken in the ports. Also holding B or O while driving gives you cool cinematics. Then pressing in the left sticks triggers slow mow. Super fun watching mfers rag doll or crazy jumps
Hey, Jonesy! I think you're really gonna love this game, for the story. It'll take some getting used to, though, especially the cars. They pretty much all handle the same, so the problems you're having aren't really with a specific car, but the car physics. You can't steer the car while you're braking, so you need to brake/slow down before you get to a turn. It may seem like a paradox, but you'll actually get around quicker if you drive slower. You'll have better control of the car, and won't be recovering from crashes and running from the cops all the time. It's also best to drive slow when you're driving someone somewhere. The dialog in this game is the best part of it, so it's a shame to miss it while concentrating on keeping the car on the road. You'll adjust, though. We all had to adjust to the car physics. But as bad as the car physics are, the motorcycles are 100 times worse! You mentioned "I really want a motorcycle", and I couldn't help by say. "Oh, no, you don't!" It's like they weight half a pound, and the tires are made out of butter! They're not like the bikes in GTA5 which are a pleasure to drive. Fortunately, they fixed the motorcycle physics for "The Lost and Damned", as you'll spent most of your time on one, but they return to the broken bike physics for "The Ballad Of Gay Tony". I'm glad you realized that you need to replenish your health between missions! So few players do! You'll want full health for the start of any new mission because there are no check points in the game. If you die during a mission, you have to start it again from scratch!! It's a huge pain in the butt, so you don't want to die because you started a mission with low health. Keep an eye out for those street vendors with the umbrella carts. You can also eat at fast food joints, like Burger Shot and Cluckin' Bell, as well as diners. They also have health packs at hospitals, but those won't catch your eye like the colourful fast food restaurants.

You have played most of Rockstars games including GTA 4, 5 and Red dead redemption 2 but you've missed out on another of their masterpieces called Bully. It's one of their oldest games but a classic
Idk if you’ll see this but one thing I noticed about games that were produced around this time (2007-2010), were all produced to resume realism, (Skate 2, GTA 4, Rdr, etc) so that lower camera angle and hard handling when you’re driving is there on purpose to resume realism but a lot of players found it too much to handle, so in GTA5 they toned down the difficulty for handling

Originally GTA IV was going to include the whole State of Liberty and parts of Alderney State from the city of Liberty City to up state New York towns and smaller cities with forests and mountain ranges to the coast line. But they went back to focusing solely on a city setting instead of going overboard.
GTA VI seems to be set in Vice City and looking at the leaked footage it seems that Rockstar are going this route with GTA VI having a main city but also towns and smaller cities taking place in a large slice of the State of Florida similar to what they planned with GTA IV. Yes Florida is known as Florida in the GTA universe which I find pretty funny. No doubt Vice City will replace Miami like how Liberty City replaces New York City.
Miami does exist in the 3D universe though as you can find billboards saying "Move Over Miami" throughout Vice City hinting that Vice City was created to steal tourism from Miami. But for the HD universe I can see Rockstar just placing Vice City where Miami should be along with all the other towns and cities around Vice City having their own fictional counterparts. After GTA lll Rockstar went for the parody of real world city route so every game after GTA lll is designed around a single city but fictionized into a parody of the real location. In the case of GTA SA it's three different parody cities.

I haven’t played gta4 in such a long time oml, I remember so much that I had forgotten already in this first episode, I do know this, since the oppressor mk2 has been introduced, there’s no way they can throw us into gta6 without something like that, make it to where you can’t shoot other players with it, just the flying everywhere is such a time saver

Fun fact GTA V is the only GTA game to feature the map fully opened to the player from the start. Every GTA game since GTA 3 has had a lore reason why you couldn't cross bridges into the next part of the city for example Vice City had a storm warning so the bridges were closed off for safely reasons while GTA San Andreas only allowed you to explore Los Santos but you couldn't travel into the countryside or to the other two cities or you'd get a full wanted level.
Niko wasn't killed by Trevor Johnny K was who was in GTA V and Trevor killed Johnny K but awesome first playthough definitely gonna watch this whole series

Jonesy in the settings you can turn off the handbreak camera it’s broken in the ports. Also holding B or O while driving gives you cool cinematics. Then pressing in the left sticks triggers slow mow. Super fun watching mfers rag doll or crazy jumps

I think you're really gonna love this game, for the story. It'll take some getting used to, though, especially the cars. They pretty much all handle the same, so the problems you're having aren't really with a specific car, but the car physics. You can't steer the car while you're braking, so you need to brake/slow down before you get to a turn. It may seem like a paradox, but you'll actually get around quicker if you drive slower. You'll have better control of the car, and won't be recovering from crashes and running from the cops all the time. It's also best to drive slow when you're driving someone somewhere. The dialog in this game is the best part of it, so it's a shame to miss it while concentrating on keeping the car on the road. You'll adjust, though. We all had to adjust to the car physics.
But as bad as the car physics are, the motorcycles are 100 times worse! You mentioned "I really want a motorcycle", and I couldn't help by say. "Oh, no, you don't!" It's like they weight half a pound, and the tires are made out of butter! They're not like the bikes in GTA5 which are a pleasure to drive. Fortunately, they fixed the motorcycle physics for "The Lost and Damned", as you'll spent most of your time on one, but they return to the broken bike physics for "The Ballad Of Gay Tony".
I'm glad you realized that you need to replenish your health between missions! So few players do! You'll want full health for the start of any new mission because there are no check points in the game. If you die during a mission, you have to start it again from scratch!! It's a huge pain in the butt, so you don't want to die because you started a mission with low health. Keep an eye out for those street vendors with the umbrella carts. You can also eat at fast food joints, like Burger Shot and Cluckin' Bell, as well as diners. They also have health packs at hospitals, but those won't catch your eye like the colourful fast food restaurants.

You have played most of Rockstars games including GTA 4, 5 and Red dead redemption 2 but you've missed out on another of their masterpieces called Bully. It's one of their oldest games but a classic
Idk if you’ll see this but one thing I noticed about games that were produced around this time (2007-2010), were all produced to resume realism, (Skate 2, GTA 4, Rdr, etc) so that lower camera angle and hard handling when you’re driving is there on purpose to resume realism but a lot of players found it too much to handle, so in GTA5 they toned down the difficulty for handling
