    8:48 Train each muscle once per week. 3 minutes, maximum, at maximum intensity, with slow, controlled motions.

    I relay on my clothes means asap I need a belt for my jeans to hold it up I order a jeans a size smaller. I was Keto from September 27, 2019 to December 5, 2019 then I switched to Carnivore. I lost almost 8 sizes since then yesterday I ordered a size 8 jeans cause I need a belt to hold up my size 10 jeans. I will use this jeans as my new measurement tool until I fit into it and asap I need a belt for this size 8 jeans I will order the next smaller size lol. I go every 3 months on the scale during my quarter yearly doc appointment, I banned my own scale into the basement and buried it under a pile of junk. I can get very obsessed with weighing means in the past I hopped every time I went to the bathroom on the scale when I wasn’t at work and was obsessed with every gram I lost or gained. Now I know I have my peace of mind for 3 months and the only thing which is reminding me that my body is changing to the better is the fit of my clothes. My priority is my health and body composition aka weight/fat loss is a bonus.
    I was a size 26 almost 28 in 2019 now almost a size 8 lol

    I think this is one of your best videos. This is the advice I could have used years ago.
    FWIW, elastic bands were my move when they closed the gym, and even though they reopened it, I'm still using them, even though I used the Nautilus type equipment and free weights before. I miss maybe three machines, but not enough to go to the gym. For resistance training, I recommend Dr Ben Bocchicchio's "15 minutes to fitness."

    Outstanding synopsis of your recent interviews with Phil Maffetone (steady state cardio), Martin Gibala (HIIT), Glenn Gaessar (exercise & weight loss) and Stuart Phillips (resistance). Just what the Doctor ordered. Dr Bret and the Diet Doctor team do an outstanding job of conveying useful and actionable information. Thank you for your service.

    I’m enjoying your video, thanks for the information!
    I used a suit coat that I couldn’t button to determine if my body composition was improving. I took a photo each week until I could button the suit coat easily.
    Although I was able to button it easily, over the next couple of years of COVID (I thought I’d use COVID as an excuse) I gained the weight back!!
    So here I go again trying to improve my body!
    I’m good at looking weight, terrible at maintaining a healthy weight!

    Dr. Bret you rock! Clearly explained as always. Love it. I do squats and push ups while at work. As many as I can for 1 minute (while the frozen section slide is in hemotoxlyn) :) great way to use my time. I've convinced some of the histologist and residents to join me :)

    You left out those of us who cannot walk well due to needing both knees replaced, that can only exercise with water resistance, swimming or walking in the pool using the water resistance training.

    • @CarbageMan

      Please do that. Know that 95% of weight loss is eating habits, and if you handle that, you'll actually be more eager to hit the pool, etc.

      Other than the pool there are seated weight exercises, mat Pilates, there’s a lot of exercise choices that can be adapted to work for disabilities, injuries and health.
      Exercise is important but over 80% of weight loss is your diet. Food restriction with nutritional foods = weight loss :) it works.

    This video is great however would you be amenable to commenting on a body that has a large bone frame vs those who have small bone frames - sometimes called “bird bone” . There’s a vast difference in weight for a person who’s height/weight ratio is not according to statistical considerations for overweight/obese/morbidly obese.

    Please, Dr. Scher, just look into the camera when you speak. The oblique shots are distracting. Don't know why TH-camrs think it's a necessary adjunct to their filmography.

    84cm waist and my height is about 187cm soo that's nice, it indicates that i'm pretty insulin sensitive. And my weight is about 70kg and it seems like i have plenty of subcutanous fat (coz i can grab quite a bit of it) soo all of this indicates that i have pretty low visceral fat.

    Where do I measure my waist? Umbilicus? Above or below?

    • @G8rRay
      @G8rRay 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My understanding is that men should measure waist circumference at the umbilicus (belly button); but, women should measure at the smallest circumference of their loins (probably, located above their umbilicus).

    • @dietdoctor
      @dietdoctor  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The specific location is not as important as being consistent each time. Some people measure at the belly button/umbilicus while others measure at the narrowest point, which may be more obvious on women.

    Does height/waist ratio give an indication of visceral fat or only body fat overall?

  • @richardwatson4116
    @richardwatson4116 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Height in meters squared?

    • @aliendroneservices6621
      @aliendroneservices6621 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. The online BMI calculators do it for you. If you want to include waist circumference, use the online ABSI calculator.

    • @evanhadkins5532
      @evanhadkins5532 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's probably BMI. Which gives a good indication for those not doing training.

    Lmao, this low carb stuff is beyond silly. As a vegan athlete, it's extremely easy and effortless to maintain 10% body fat year around, and still feel great and have loads of energy. I used to be really fat too when I didn't care about myself, but losing weight, gaining muscle and maintaining a lean body was super easy when I cared and started making all my own food. All that coupled with absolutely perfect bloodwork every time it's tested. Never in my life had I ever gained so much muscle, so quickly.

    • @CarbageMan
      @CarbageMan 2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Vegan elitism is silly. It's not about meat, but animal protein helps.
      PS: Wait until you mature. You'll see how things change.

      Veganism is a religiously based belief system unrooted from reality! Humans are essential carnivores. There are NO essential dietary requirements for carbohydrates! Lost 20kg, eating equal to a bit more than before with no changes in exercise. No grains , No fruits, No potatoes works for me .
