You might even say his excellent mastering of it and his setup helped evolve and perfect the standard at which it is implemented today. But it was a technique already in existence in subtypes of Muay Thai and offshoots of Kyokushin like Seidokaikan which is the predecessor to Japanese kickboxing aka "K-1" style kickboxing rules. It was actually his mentor the K-1 and Kyokyushinkai legend Francisco Filho who is credited as the first to use it widely in combat sport. He used it so often it was called the "Brazilian kick" for a long time before it was called "question mark kick."

It’s really nothing special to be honest, you sorta just do it naturally when adjusting mid kick if you’re quick enough. The opposite works just as well, faking a round house into a clean front kick.

I’m a big fan of his teaching, his version of knowledge isn’t all about perfect technique, it’s about the little pieces of moves that make you a better fighter, his knowledge feels like it comes directly out of training and no one’s mouth

And if your leg is caught you won't be able to generate enough force with your leg extended to cause harm. Most when their leg is caught have their knee bent to regain balance and to close the distance.

This guy is so entertaining and seems to me that everyone in the know, agree that this man is the GOAT so I would be glued to everything he say and teaches. But he manages to keep his classes light hearted too and thats important. Sometimes a more experienced pupil tries to rough him up and take him down which is so disrespectfull but why do that to a legend? Pay attention to his foot when landed. A small rotation on the ankle to slip out of catch. Amazing thing is Muay Thai has a lot of such little tricks to learn. 🫡
Ive never train Muay Thai but i love and respect the sport with everything thing in me i dount at my age I'd be any good but if Muay Thai ever tought where I live for affordable prices I will be married to it because I love the sport all fighting is but i cant even understand the amount of discipline and honor most Muay Thai fighters have there must be something to this way of life total respect
I noticed that saenchai has exceptional hip flexibility, which allows him to execute moves like question mark kicks and this maneuver outstandingly well
Kick retraction is important if your kick is at a level where they can grab or trap it. So for kicks targeting the mid section it should be retracted as fast as it went out.
Im not sure, but from watching this. I think one of the key elements is to return your pivot leg to a front facing position allowing you to pull back your hips and leg quicker and safer. Could be completely wrong but thats what I think I got from this. 😂.

He is but it's very subtle, like a boxer throwing a jab. The more you move the more your opponent can react.
