This channel has been a godsend, I’ve been looking into getting a used 2018 Model S and this channel has been answering all my little specific questions. So thank you so much!
2018 MX 75D with FSD with all the bells and whistles including streaming apps like Netflix, YT, Hulu, am/fm, Apple along with sentry mode. Just purchased the vehicle for $28k with 93k miles. Blows the mind someone can put that much into a vehicle and get rid of it. Running great so far.
Just got surprised with the news that I need this upgrade my 2015 ModelS because my middle screen started to ooooooze out a glue like substance into my console. Was not happy when I was quoted $1,750 for the upgrade since I was having no issues prior and the operation of the screen was totally fine with me as I don't play games or watch movies while in the car. Also, the only place I ever charge is in my garage and I'm never sitting in my car idle for long periods of time. Wish I knew how to repair this myself.
Interesting, I have a 2016 Model S and there's a glue like substance around the edges of my touch screen center console, not sure if its been replace ñd or something, or something leaking, I have no idea.
Loving these videos as I have a 2018 Model S 75D. Mine only came with autopilot safety and I’m thinking about biting the bullet for basic autopilot at $3k.
My upgrade was a total of $2,414.00.(does not include AM/FM) This includes the MCU2, labor installation, updating and If you don't have the 20. or 2.5 autopilot, it will only cost you about $1750.00 I am 100% satisfied. It has made my 4 year old Tesla like a brand new Tesla. I absolutely recommend this upgrade, No shoppers remorse here.
$1750 for a media consumption machine built into your car? For that price I was expecting something like all the current sentry features, or maybe an enhanced algorithm for efficiency. But I guess watching netflix and playing video games are that valuable to some people.
it does include a lot of that stuff for newer cars that still have the MCU1, for my 2015 p85d it was mostly a QOL fix as MCU1 was slow and mine was delaminating and leaking glue all over my center console, what's not mentioned is that the MCU2 is MUCH higher resolution and has better colors and a better anti-glare coating, so it's much nicer to use overall.
I have a Tesla S75, I have installed MCU version 2 in it, but it keeps showing a message, can you remove it? Its mileage is high. Is there any way to reduce it? Error in display : vehicle configuration mismatched If you have a solution, I will pay your fee. And tell me how to contact you.
So we have 2014 model S , with original center console. Is that model also upgradable? And what cpuis in MCU2? I know latest Tesla's have AMD based ones like in Xbox or Playstation.
my wifes screen is leaking the gel, sits outside occasionally here in Dallas gets hot and starts to leak - 2016 Model S. How do I know if I have mcu1 or mcu2? Will Tesla replace it ? thanks for the vid!
If i purchased a used tesla how would i know which MCU is in there. I think i was told if it's NVIDIA tegra processer it's MCU1 but if it's intel atom processor it's MCU2. Is that correct?
Hi , i bought car MS 2018 Jan and i thought thats Autopilot Basic is come standard with it . and it came without so i try to find the best way to get it , in my app i found upgrage for it but will cost around 3000 USD, but i read many topics mention that if i update my MCU1 to MCU 2 then i will get autopilot basic as standard and also will include update AP hardware from 2.5 to 3.0. can you help to discover if that information is right or not ! thanks and regards
I am not sure about that piece. It is my understanding that all come with basic autopilot. Mine has enhanced autopilot and I do have the mcu2. Have you contacted the Tesla service center to ask the question?
That was my point of the video, the main thing you accomplish is a speedy screen. Overpriced for such a simple benefit. For me it was worth it for resale purposes later.

Thanks for the feedback. Means a lot!
This information was very helpful and money saving

Man that sucks!

@jeffrey7159 that is common with the mcu1 they fixed it with the mcu2
Does this upgrade include adding cameras to an early 2016 model x 75d ?

Glad you are enjoying the videos. I have several more to be released in this Tesla series.

Isn’t that crazy!

@@Falinzin im fine with the speed but I am about to do the upgrade due to the goop... coming in to summer in Australia its a nightmare lol
When you added radio tuner for $500 did you get access to SiriusXM?
Is there somewhere I can buy the screen and replace it myself?
Do you know if the MCU2 upgrade still have HomeLink function for garage opener integration?
Yes mine still has garage door opener

What years have MCu2s?

The mcu1 does the gel leak. The mcu2 does not. Tesla will replace, but not under warranty. You will have to pay.

Yes

Yes it replaces both the screen over the steering wheel and the center screen.
Upgrading my car on December 10!
How much were you quoted ?

@@eman6207 By scheduling a service appointment in the app. You have to go in and ask for it under other as it doesn’t show up as an available option.
Thank you 😊
You're welcome 😊
Hopefully I can get a used tesla with all these things already there
The good news is it should be easy to spot. I have heard some people negotiate the purchase price down by the cost of the upgraded mcu.
Thank you for that tip 🥰✨💕
Will the upgrade allow me to use my phone as a key?
Not without opening your app or using the Tessie app. I use the Tessie app which lets me use my Apple Watch as a key to start unlock and such.
How u connect Xbox controller
It’s pretty simple I have a video that comes out next week on it. Just simple Bluetooth connection.
Netflix says unsupported on mine idk why
That’s strange. Did you hit up the service center to ask?
So how do I upgrade to MCU 2? Through the dealer?
I believe you can technically buy and install yourself but I went through the dealer.
Went from LTE to 5G thats what’s made it quick
More and more I see better uses for my money. Control for the map would be good. But games are a waste.

I pay 2300
