Early Journey absolute killa " Nickel and Dime" from the album 'Next'. 1977. And Jamel, if you wanta gets real, real tripped out in a great mind blowin' way, try The Mahavishnu Orchestra! "Birds of Fire" would be a fine start. Do everyone a favor and trip dis!

When we were 12 (1982) our folks used to take us to the Sam Houston Coliseum and drop us off to watch wrestling. They say "we'll pick you up around 10 or 10:30." They were always late and we'd just wander around downtown till they found us around midnight.

Kiss was with Casablanca Records, an American record label owned by Universal Music Group and operated under Republic Records. Under its founder Neil Bogart, Casablanca was most successful during the disco era of the mid to late 1970s. The label currently focuses on dance and electronic music under the direction of Rob Stevenson and Brett Alperowitz. "The Casablanca Singles by KISS...1974-1982" covers KISS' remarkable eight-year stay on Bogart's label, from their very first, "Nothin' to Lose" b/w "Love Theme from KISS", from their self-titled debut to their very first charted 45, "Kissin' Time". The band's subsequent string of hits included "Dressed to Kill"'s live version of "Rock and Roll All Nite" (#12 on Billboard's Hot 100), "Destroyer"'s "Shout It Out Loud" (#31) and the Top 10 ballad "Beth", "Rock And Roll Over"'s "Hard Luck Woman" (#15) and "Calling Dr. Love" (#16), "Love Gun"'s "Christeen Sixteen" (#25), Ace Frehley's solo hit, "New York Groove" (#13) and "Dynasty"'s "I Was Made for Lovin' You" (#11).

Both concerts were unbelievable!! Love the song GOD OF THUNDER🩸🩸Ace Frehley’s electric bolts from his guitar 🎉 Confetti falling all over the Forum during ROCK N ROLL ALL NIGHT 😻 BETH by Peter Criss. And definitely can’t forget Uncle Ted zip-lining to the Anaheim stage playing his guitar in a loin cloth!! Those were the days!! Thanks Jamel! I saw KISS on their tour for this album. I was 14, and painted my face like Ace, and my buddy painted up like Paul. The show was awesome, and I will never forget it. The bonus for me was the opening act, Judas Priest. I lot of people did not know them, but I was already into Priest, and they put on an excellent performance. Most everyone was there to see KISS, and often booed Priest, and chanted “We want KISS,” which made me mad because I also very much also wanted to see and hear Priest, and they were stellar! Oh, the memories.

Despite their wild makeup, Kiss was one of the most commercial formula rock music bands of them all. Along with a charismatic front man, and spectacular pyrotechnic stage shows. Add in the marketing campaign, you couldn't escape their logo. More like savvy entrepreneurs than musical geniuses. The music is not terrible by any means. Good hard driving rock n roll. Sounds the best when you're 18, and drunk.

This was around the time when Kiss started using custom guitars which fit in with with their over the top show ethics.
    - Gene's executioner axe shaped bass.
    - Ace's light chasing guitar
    - Paul's broken mirror guitar.
But let me tell you the story about that last one. Paul got himself an endorsement deal with Ibanez guitars which resulted in a Paul Stanley signature model. Paul became immersed in the upcoming New York city Disco scene and figured that a guitar with the effect of a Disco ball would be just the ticket. But to keep in touch with Kiss' heavy metal roots, commissioned the guitar to look like a cracked mirror.
    axeology.com/image/1979-06-20_PS10SM1.jpg
Luthier Jeff Hasselberger was hired by Ibanez to build the guitar which used real mirror recessed into the guitar's body. Hasselbverger turned a spotlight onto it and the beams went in every single direction, just as Paul had meant it to. But Mirror is SHARP and Hasselberger had to buff every single edge smooth and apparently missed a few spots since Paul actually ripped open his arm a couple of times.
No matter what you might think of Kiss, that's HARDCORE!
