My grandmother’s Aunt said in the early 70s this song was a favorite for almost everyone at a party, club, or bar. She said everyone would practically stop conversations and get up and move and sing it!
Although Crosby and Nash are on this and they did it live, this is on Still’s first solo album. You should check it out. Fantastic album. Not a bad song on it AND it holds the distinction of being the only album that both Hendrix and Clapton played on ( but on separate songs). It is also believed to be hendrix’s last studio recording
As noted below, this is a song by Stephen Stills from his incredible first solo album. He gathered some of the best musicians to put this album together. His album, Manassas, is a masterpiece. Other songs to check out from Stills: Change Partners, The Love Gangster, So Begins the Task, Church (Part of Someone), We Are Not Helpless, and Sugar Babe. So glad you liked him!
If you think back to the time when this came out and all the the young late teens and early twenty somethings out there... those were my parents and aunts and uncles! This came out in the time of the Vietnam War. Think about all those young relationships ripped apart by people drafted into service never to return. Or, if they did, the love of their life didn't wait for them. This was a song of coping and of hope.
Classic! I remember hearing this on the AM radio in my dad's truck when I was a little kid tagging along on weekend side jobs. Roses and eagles caught my attention. The staccato vocal line hearkens back to "Marrakesh Express". I remember hearing that in the old truck too. Rita Coolidge, David Crosby, Priscilla Jones, Graham Nash, John Sebastian on backing vocals. And to turn from that into that organ break ... iconic.
As others have said it is a Stephen Stills song and among the best he ever wrote and performed!I did love the one who loved me as I loved her as well. We met in college. She was only seventeen and full of life. Unfortunately after not quite 16 years of marriage I have missed her every day since,❤😢
I first heard this song in a small club by a cover band. Fell in love with it. And when I heard the actual song by CNS, it was remarkable how accurate the cover band was. CSN's SOUTHERN CROSS is simply spectacular.
Words to live by, unless you're actually married. LOL If I remember right, the single I had on the label it was Stephen Stills as a soloist other than CS&N, but I could be wrong. This is one of those songs I always turn up to 11.
There's a special place in my heart for this song, back in my teenage years this was on the Juke box of a dirty, dangerous and very exciting live music pub near London that I used to hang out in back in the 70s! Saw so many bands there from early Fleetwood Mac to The Sex Pistols Anything was possible, ah lost youth !!...
Suite judy blue eyes is one of their best, but there are so many. Wooden ships, carry on, our house, teach your children, ohio, i could name a dozen more. Always best when neil young sits in like the de ja vu album

Another incredibly beautiful CSN song is, "Guinevere"...
It's utterly gorgeous, Biz...
Lovely to see how you value them...they are special in any musical era and context.

It is a fantastic album
And the second album with Donnie Dacus!
Bob Seger did it Much Better.
This is a great CSN song. It really captures the ethos of the era - Peace & Love ✌
It’s hard not to sing & dance to this one. 🎶
100%❤❤❤

Steve lived across the steet, handed me this album himself. I still have it. The autograph says "Keep on Truckin"
Biz, I think you just got what the late 60’s were all about. 🤘😉
😬

I love this song.
This is one of my all time favourite songs.
Love this song! Good reaction, man.
Well done! 👍🎶💃
I really like Steven Still's voice. He was great in Buffalo Springfield.
You should listen to Woodstock (written by Joni Mitchell) performed by Crosby, Stills & Nash.
One of their best in my book
Yea Brother
This is one of my faves.
STILLS!

My very fave of CSN ❤

Corroboration was such a casual thing in the late 60s and early 70s. All of us who were there benefitted, as you are doing now.
That reaction put a smile on my face just now.
CARRY ON - C.S.N
Y ❤❤❤

Check out "Carry On ". ❤
A rose in a fisted glove....
GR888888 ROCKER BIZ, AWESOME!!! 😊
Hey Biz! For a fun & cool comparison, try The Isley Brothers' version of "Love the one You're with " Pretty fabulous!
The song Woodstock off the album Deja Vu is a banger.
Very great song and message period
Stephen Stills wrote this classic. The Isley Brothers do a great version also.
A very important album, Jimi Hendricks' last recorded song.
And that is just one important thing among many, do the whole album.
Crosby and Nash did the same thing Rita Coolidge and Jon Sebastian did on this song. Sing backup.
Lisa O' Neil - Blackbird 👌
Lee Shore is a great song.
FYYYYRRRRRR!!!😊EAR CANDYYYYYY!
So good!!!!
Even though on this one you also got Neil Young, I think you got to do " deja'vu ", the track off the album " deja'vu "
Suite judy blue eyes is one of their best, but there are so many. Wooden ships, carry on, our house, teach your children, ohio, i could name a dozen more. Always best when neil young sits in like the de ja vu album
Not CSN. This is Stills solo, after CSN (CSN&Y) broke up... the first time.
Marrakesh Express is another good one.
Hey love 💟
☮️💙💙💙🔥🔥😎❄️
🎉🎉🎉🎉 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
❤❤❤. ☮️❤️😎
My first husband took their advise so that didn’t work lol.
Yeah. They did the song good. Bob Seger did the song So Much Better. So much more Soul and Grit 🇺🇸☕
Have you heard "Wooden Ships" or "Southern Cross"? Better tunes than this one IMO.
PS. Check out Dr Hook "When You're In Love With A Beautiful Woman", if you haven't. It's sets your sentiments to music in a pleasant way.
No Young is the Best.
Always loved this song! Makes you move. Not sure about the message 😉 😂, but it’s a banger.
Well, as long as she can love the one she’s with!
@@leonardsfriend5821 Exactly 😉
Great song 🎵 but I'm not sure about the lyrics 🤔
This is a Stills song . was on his 1st solo album. The other 2 clowns just happened to be there when they did this live
I wouldn't call Crosby or Nash clowns. They are both musicians too.
Clowns, really? You seem like the 🤡
