This really showcases what a showman & entertainer Elvis was. And he had a good sense of humor. He really liked wearing these white jumpsuits & it became his staple outfit in a lot of his concerts. "Polk Salad Annie” is a 1968 song written & performed originally by Tony Joe White.
@ wow I can’t even imagine. I live in Australia and was 16 when my idol died. I cried for 2 weeks, missing one week of school and then school holidays. I was sure I would cry every day for the rest of my life. There was talk that Elvis was going to tour Australia and I had already decided that I would spend the money I had saved for my 1st second hand car on a ticket. I visited Graceland last year and stayed at the Guesthouse.
The great thing I like about Elvis is he's never the same kind of way. or looks, moving. And his voice. Never the same. Most other artist, if not all are really much the same every time you see them, You roughly know what your gonna see.
If an artist wants to be a good performer, they need to study Elvis. He set the benchmark. He sang live and moved spontaneously with the song, every one of his performances is unique.
Poke Sallet (correct spelling) from the poisonous Pokeweed plant, picked in the spring & cooked well, it can be eaten. The hut 2 3 4 was his fun way of referring to his days in the Army. This was 1970 Vegas, one of the performances that was filmed by MGM over 6 different performances & put onto the famous DVD entitled "That's The Way It Is."
Good comparison between Elvis Presley, the Beastie Boys and Eminem. Of course, Elvis was much much bigger than Eminem, but the crazy thing with Elvis is if you weigh it towards rap? Elvis would’ve been where grandmaster flash was - right at the beginning. EP was a pioneer of the rock and roll sound and stage presentation that teenagers of every race wanted to hear during the youth revolution and civil rights movement. Like you said, Elvis came out of nowhere through the church in the poorest neighborhoods in the country and became the biggest star of all time.. it’s never been done before, and it hasn’t been done since. Michael Jackson came from a family of musicians. But Elvis Presley came from Cottonfields, the great depression and segregation.. He came from a shack with no running water and no electricity.
I can’t believe I almost missed this reaction !!! I’m a big fan of Elvis. My grandma made sure of it 😂 She gave me my first album of his when I was 5 years old ❤
Elvis DID write a few songs. One was You'll Be Gone in 1962. He cowrote the song That's Someone You'll Never Forget. Both featured on the album Pot Luck.
Hey sweetheart, it just keeps getting better with Elvis and The drummer, Ronnie Tutt as well as the rest of the band, had to be on the ball, cause they never knew what he was going to do and Here Ronnie Tutt is on point. TCB 1935
Elvis never wrote a song, however, he DID get writing credits on some of the (early) songs he sang, sometimes because the writers were grateful to him for recording their songs and making them hits! Elvis WAS a great arranger of music, though. You should watch rehearsal clips of him for his 1970 Vegas shows like this one for Bridge Over Troubled Water, he turned that song into a gospel: th-cam.com/video/dn89JS4FEu0/w-d-xo.html
I believe Elvis got writing credit on one song, along with 2 others. I can't think of it right now. And I don't believe it was one of his smash hits, but he does have credit on one song, as far as I know. And he recorded over 700 songs in his life. The man literally worked himself to death.😥
If you haven’t Reacted to Patch It Up, in 1970 Live Concert Las Vegas, I think you will really enjoy it, as plenty of energy going on & a great song too. Elvis as always Sensational! Another great Reaction!
ELVIS - is the best entertainer of all time - Eminem is the greatest Rapper / Lyrist of all time!! Eminem did a track for the Elvis Movie - King & I - its on his channel -

Damn! He's entertaining as all get out! The energy, and his control while he's working so hard, its insane. No lip syncing while dancing here!

Elvis was great, but the original of this really is much better.
