Hey guys, im looking at getting a 250x, but i dont know if itd be too underpowered. i ride lots of trails and stuff mostly not the track, but i love how the 250r is able to wheelie no problem. is the 250x like it? thanks!
Im 15, i currently have a honda crf150r but its too small for me. I was having a look at this bike and i just wanted to know is it a good change from the 150r. i want a bike that still has power and this one seems to be quite slow... Please reply
ok im a beginner to dirt biking (i can ride really smooth on the street and stuff but I havent done much trail riding) I've only ridden my friends dirt bikes tho (Crf150f) im finally looking into buying my own bike, Im 5"8 and 120 pounds (yea im a skinny bastard) Im 16 so im still growing tho I plan on buying the bike in about 3 - 4 months after winter, so my question is, do you think this bike is good for me or would a crf230f be better.
Yes the book does say 15hrs for CRF's and you find that they recommend 7.5hrs for their two stroke CR range. If you follow the book to the T, you will be changing parts left right and centre at ridiculous hrs. 15hrs is what they say to cover themselves for the worst possible scenario on the "R" range, but Honda released a service brochure that says the "X" under race condition is good for 30hrs, because they aren't at full throttle as much. However, I'm getting 100 hrs easy out of my bikes.
@hellclan10011 Alright thanks, I'm very very new to dirt biking and I want to get a crf250x for around 3 grand which I dont see happening unless I get an 05 or 04.
@ttr7rider hell yeah bro im a 38 year old single male, i live outside kmart, and all i own is a suzuki RM50 and a couple pairs of clothes. i love my life and i love my dirtbike!
Ruined after 20hrs? Wow....I'd love to know where you got that information from. All the CRF's that I have worked on that had worn out valves, had air filters that were not correctly fitted, or they were not cleaned and oiled. I also found a lot of people that got a CRF's, were from the die hard Honda fans that came off XR's, and tried to treat them the same. The bottom end does not blow through the crankcase, that's ridiculous. If the valves wear, you can't ride the bike!
Sorry, I’m 8 years late, but my 250x has 52 hours on it with everything original. It is a 2012. However, I still have a few Xr’s in the garage just in case (;
@@ryan_400x4 Better late than never. Sadly, I haven't ridden mine for about 7 years due to injury after injury (frozen shoulder...both arms), then hernia. Been trying to ride the last 2 years, but we have been in lockdown over the winters. Mine has over 115 hrs on original motor. Well over due for a piston, but the last 20 riders have been in extremely tight terrain and the motor hardly gets reved. I think the sitting for a long period of time will do some damage, im expecting the water pump seal to leak etc. I shouldve been out in the shed starting it up occasionally, but it has been neglected due to life getting in the way. Now I'm in the middle of house renovations. The good old XR's. I wish I had never sold mine.
@hellclan10011 I just got back from our local Honda dealer and I think im gona go with the Crf230... better bike for a beginner, and I had no idea how big the 250 would actualy be haha
I can understand what you are saying. The Honda Valves are not as durable as the other brands, but the rest of the bike is bullet proof. The KTM was a bad example as being the best, that award goes to the Yam YZ or WR for durability. Try getting 30hrs out of a KTM 250f piston, you will put more oil in it than petrol. Other models are plagued with camshaft bearing problems & primary drive seal failure etc. The 2 strokes have starter motor problems. At the end of the day, no brand is perfect.
please note to people that watch this in the us. unless you get a cali model of this bike the normal us crf250x is not so stuffed up. ie no extra thing on the end of the exhaust and this bike defantly will rip in stock usa form.
@ttr7rider Yea man Im 15 and about 5'9 and I found a 2004 crf250x and it looks sick! Im on a 2000 TTR125 now and I don't really like it because its a little small for me but its a very good bike. Go Honda!
@xXThexWolfxPackXx turns out mine in a 04 if your lookin for three grand then an o4 is perfect my dad picked up mine for 3200 and no problem your welcome but be a little careful on the throttle...the thing is faster than it appears
@hellclan10011 Wow haha yea I can get a new 09 for 3 grand, also we found a guy that teaches riding lessons that has a 230 that he would let me ride if i took a lesson from him so I could get a feel for the bike to see if I like it :) were u pleased with that bike?
@xXThexWolfxPackXx not reLLY IT COMES STOCK WITH BARK BUSTERS THATS PRETTY MUCH IT o and srry for the caps anyway its probably better than mine but only cause the new technology
@xXThexWolfxPackXx oh hell yes its super reliable and because it doesnt have radiators or the two things you always see on the side of the bike below the handlebars you cant break one cause for a begginer if you crashed you would be paying 300 dollars lol my dad had to
@dahaterzzzz haha thanks, i forgot all about commenting of this! it was sooo long ago, doesnt seem funny to me lol but aperently it is kuz i have 9 thumbs up. alot has changed since then.... check out my channel
My 2007 crf250x has been nothing more than an unreliable nightmare,i am a qualified motor mechanic and 35 yo trail rider not racer, firstly lets praise the bikes handling its great and the steering bike is quite comfortable and steering it through the bush is great, however the reliabilty is not great its almost laughable, valves well i dont really care about the valve issues its an easy fix,but 3 gearbox rebuilds ,2 stators,i countershaft stripped,2 camshafts,5 piston kits and 2 timing chains
The older CRF motors had a reputation for high valve wear. The newer models resolved the issue to some extent, however there are aftermaket valve/seat combinations that do a better job than Honda ;-)
If you race them they need a new top-end every 15hrs.... I got this from the official Honda owners manual. I have personally seen a CRF blow up/seize, making about a 2" hole in the front of the motor. Check out the vid of it on my channel.
"they wear very very well" ........ HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. crf250x/r have the least durable engine of any dirt bike you can buy. the whole top end will be ruined after 20hrs, including all valve train, and if you don't fix it it causes the bottom end to blow through the crank case... costing $4,500 to repair (basically need a whole new engine)
Great video!

@hellclan10011 do u see much difference between the 06 and the one they showed on here?
what is the maintenace like on this bike?
yep you're right. Just talked to a producer about it and they said the "1/4 mile" is only 200m long!
would you recomened this bike for a 15 year old. ive been looking for a 250 but not with as much power as a two stoke.

Man those bikes come decked out compared to what we get here in dealership forum

can some one please tell me if this bike can be road registered in australia please that would be very helpful
thanks
what silencer is best for a crf450 to make it roadworthy anyone any ideas?
So the Aussie 1/4 mile is 200 metres long then? No wonder their dragsters are so quick.
howbout that yamaha wr?
Does anybody recommend this bike for every day riding? maybe 80%on and 20%off-road.
SHOULD I GET THIS OR A CRF250R I RIDE TRAILS AND TRACKS BUT MOSTLY TRAILS
I'm 13 should I get a Honda crf250x or a husky wr125
im 21 and im six foot four 200 lbs and i love my dirtbike... o ya ... its a honda 50cc !!! wooo i like to go fast .. yaaaaay its fun.
@chandley21 this, i do the same and it is awsome for both!
@hellclan10011 Alright thanks, I'm very very new to dirt biking and I want to get a crf250x for around 3 grand which I dont see happening unless I get an 05 or 04.
It would but you also have figure that he is starting from a stop so he has to be doing a speed of more than 90mph.
@cap9709 id say yes , go to a dealer and maybe test ride one to see if its what your looking for...
i have the 2009 but mine has a white rear fender
10 seconds in the 1/4 mile? That sounds a little too quick. The CR500 1/4 mile is 12 seconds.
@ttr7rider

@@gjw45 constantly shimming the valves.
@@gabekenyon4882 I've never shimmed the valves. I wouldn't bother even if they were out of spec, because it would mean a band-aid fix.

nah nah think they mean 1/8mile not like it does 10 sec 1/4 good bikes them hondas

the same bike i have but my is a 06 i think
No way does this bike get a 10.09 on the 1/4 mile... I own one.
@jeff76029jrm it should be low maitnance its diffent than the 250R in that sence

i would think the CRF250R would be a more aggressive bike .
At the end of the day, all full-size CRF engines are much, much less durable than the competitors, especially KTM.
do they wheelie good if u make them?
Oh hell yeah they do
@MegaHondacrf250r 10.69 doesnt make sense either. Only 60 seconds in a min. Was longer than 10.09.
@x2bubbleman55 yeah it is, im thinking about getting one for my girlfriend

It is a good bike but my 250x is very slow I think 450x is better
its a bigger engine, of course its better...
the 1/4 mile was 10.69 Not 10.09!
THEY ARE VALVE EATERS! trust me
What do you mean?
The older CRF motors had a reputation for high valve wear. The newer models resolved the issue to some extent, however there are aftermaket valve/seat combinations that do a better job than Honda ;-)
@ttr7rider haha ur great
1/4 mile in ten seconds means you could do a mile in 30 sec that a 120 mph top speed
it must of been 1/4 kilometer
nice bike though love honda
law b boy
@xXThexWolfxPackXx lol dude honestly i was going to tell you about a 230 thats what i had before omg thats so funny
10 sec 1/4 mile??? wtf?
a lil bit underpowered? lol really? Doing a 10.69 for this bike seems pretty good lol
this guy sounds like the crocodile hunter xD

i would go with a crf 70f
u should probably change the pistons every 10 hours
no. get the dual sport bike
You guys need new reviews because they say the same things with every video
lmao, my cr80 2 stroke has more power then that piece.
