I have painted up 1/3000 forged in battle ships. perfect for original board. This game is so versatile. Any scale can be used just need bigger hexes

Now that brings back old memories. Played the heck out of WSIM back in High School!

Great vid. Our group has done this too with both Wooden Ships and Iron Men as well as GMT's Flying Colors. Flying Colors is simplified for larger fleet actions and works quite well considering the simplification. We also use the individual ship cards you can find on Board Game Geek and that way you keep a lot of information markers off the table. Also with both games we've found for larger battles you will have to take a section of the battle (like the vanguard of a line) due to the sheer size that miniatures take up on table space. Great to see this on the table and we're not the only ones with the same ideas
edit: You were noting the more nuanced movement in Post Captain but in all honesty we've found the use of Hexes has made any conflicts over whether you've over angled or you're in broadside or not are a complete non issue now. So for us hexes are worth their weight in gold with saved time and less discrepancies for only a minor simplification

I did find the hexes useful. Especially eliminating range debates.... are you with 5" or 5 and 1/16" because one is a hit and one is a miss. 4 hexes away is 4 hexes away!

Just to add. Advantage of 1/3000. They are not expensive or too demanding to paint. You can paint up damaged vessels with masts off and masts trailing in water.

Is there any way you guys could provide a scan of the original rule book? There are all kinds of modified rules online, but nowhere are the complete original rules available.

How'd you get that map printed up? Love the upgrade with the minis. I've been printing ships for other games at about 1/3000 to 1/1800. Ive got the game but really would like it on the larger scale. Great video.

Thanks for taking time to leave a comment. I don't remember what printing service my buddy used, but it was a custom order.
