Using a pencil works better for this game. So you can erase movement changes. Also at 55:35 is a rake on British ship.

I enjoyed watching you play this game, an old favorite of mine from back in the day when I served. Our ship's library had a copy of this game that I frequently checked out to play on my time between watches. You chose scenario 1 to play which, in my opinion, is the most complex of all the scenarios. It says in the scenario set up for scenario 1 that you have to play with the advanced rules and you must even play with some of the optional rules as well. Like I said, very complex. On the set-up chart you were reading the FA=Fore and Aft Rigged and the *=rowing only as if it were one entry. It is two separate notations. I believe the two American galleys have the * symbol to show they can only be rowed. And the battle sail speed of 2 for the two British ships is covered in the section on designing your own scenarios shown under the Merchantman section. I would love to see you play some of the other scenarios that don't require advanced or optional rules though. I've played through this scenario a few times and it is incredibly frustrating due to the very small amount of damage caused and the slowness of it all, both in ship's speed and the fact that the players are constantly referring to the rules to see what gets subtracted from each ships die rolls.

Wow...we played the holy-hell out of this back in the 80s. I loved it! I have not played it in decades. The plotted moves are old-school, otherwise I think it should be a great game today. I have a copy packed away somewhere. You should have started with scenario #2. Not all of those old games had the scenarios in order of complexity...or any "order" whatsoever.

Yes, I think it would be fun to actually play against someone. Was just 'ok' playing solo. I had a few problems with some inconsistencies in the rules as I pointed out in the video. I thin adding in the advance and optional rules would not be too bad.
