Quick explainer: Avantasia began as a side project by Tobias Sammett, lead singer of German Power Metal band Edguy...his idea was to make a metal opera telling a story with different singers...and thus, Avantasia was born...it is like the Power Metal equivalent of Ayreon...actually Tobias played a character in Ayreon's last album...the first two albums were the Metal Opera pts 1 and 2, they tell a story...and then came the Wicked Trilogy, which is conformed by The Scarecrow, The Wicked Symphony and Angel of Babylon... He also has his own band Edguy a German power metal band who also do epic stuff like this and have been going since the late 90s. The Avantasia project started in the early 2000s as a rock opera idea with many guest vocalists and musicians which is still ongoing. Most of these albums are concept ones. He does eventually go to a Psychologist who has never had to deal with a real life scarecrow, and tries to treat him. JORN F'n LANDE! Jorn - Song for Ronne James He did an entire album covering different songs from Dio's career, and wrote that song as a tribute. As someone called him below "the spiritual son of Ronnie James Dio." He is DEFINITELY in that league!
Sascha Paeth, the red/beige guitar lead with the camo pants is quite possibly the most notable and influential person in power/symphonic metal in recent history - amazing musician/producer, he's played in and produced some of the very best albums in the genre with bands like Angra, Rhapsody, Kamelot, Epica, After Forever and many others, the guy is incredibly talented and deserves all the praise he gets and much more. Without him and his band Steeltower the newer wave of power metal alongside Helloween, Grave Digger and a couple others may have been far different and many of the huge bands (the aforementioned ones he works with and others) we see today may not be where they are.

I think they explained in one of their videos that their "underground" classification is not based on the global fan size of the artist/band, rather based on the number of fans in their audience.

Did you listen to any of Tobias Sammets original band Edguy? He started waaay early writing songs, Edguy was started when he was 14. The very early stuff is a little rough around the edges production wise but at around Vain Glory Opera is where at least I think they found their stride. Its an amazing album! I'd recommend the song Theater of Slavation from the album with the same name thou. Have a happy metal day! (its every day btw)
A year late and $.05 short; the Scarecrow actually does make the deal with the devil, whom is promising fame and fortune. It goes great for a while but eventually things fall apart and he confronts the devil - on the song “Another Heaven” on the third album of this trilogy.
Avantasia, I love them. Such great albums. Ayreon has the same concept as Avantasia. Tobias Sammett, the composer of Avantasia sings on an album of Ayreon and Arjen Anthony Lucassen, the composer of Ayreon, plays a solo on an Avantasia album. You really should look at the latest live concert of Ayreon: The electric castle and other tales. Or the previous live concert: Ayreon Universe live. Epic metal songs and ballads. Simone Simons, Epica, sings on the last concert and Floor Jansen and Marko Hietala on the first one. See Wikipedia for the very well known metal musicians that participated.
fyi..Avantasia are a side project of frontman Tobias Sammet,his main band is Edguy,a lot of the singers and musicians in the band are also in other bands so touring is a bit of a logistical nightmare having to get as many of them free to go on tour at the same time ,but it is a big event when they do get together,so many great artists on one stage,Jorn Lande,Micheal Kiske,Amanda Somerville,Bob Catley and so many others

Hey Vin that last set of Lyrics you were saying is from the Song "I Don't Believe in Your Love." The Scarecrow is visited by an Angel, the Angel of Lust. The Scarecrow looks back and doesn't believe he was ever in love, and that it was Lust. And The Angel of Lust tells him how sometimes love is evil, because its Lust confused as love. "I Don't believe in your Love, Tread on this bed of roses. I Don't believe in your Love, Don't give a fuck for roses" There's more to this story with, "The Story Ain't Over" with the Incredible Bob Catley & "What Kind of Love" with the amazing Amanda Somerville
I love Avantasia. In this case the album version sounds better because his voice is much clearer. You can call this metal opera. Ayreon is another band from this genre. There are two live concerts. Ayreon Universe Live is with Floor and Irene Jansen and also Marko from Nightwish. Hansi from Blinded Guardian and many others. The last one, Into the electric castle and other tales is with Simone Simons and Mark Janssen from Epica, Fish from Marillion and many others.
The mighty Jorn Lande. Some call him the european Dio. Amazing singer. This is a great song. Avantasia can be hit or miss but with the right guest singers its pretty great. Sign of the Cross is probably my favorite from Avantasia. Awesome singers on that one. I dunno about the bass player but the bald guitarist I think is Oliver Hartmann. An amazing singer in his own right (and incredible guitarist) who used to sing and play guitar for At Vance. On the studio version he didn't sing on this song. But the studio version also featured Michael Kiske (Helloween) who wasn't on this particular live version.
If Jorns mic was at the same level it would be even more obvious how insane his voice is , its like a dio and whitesnake mix in his voice. Tobias sounds good but Lande sounds like a god.

He did an entire album covering different songs from Dio's career, and wrote that song as a tribute. As someone called him below "the spiritual son of Ronnie James Dio." He is DEFINITELY in that league!

Avantasia - The Toy Master, has Alice Cooper on guest vocals :) That would be another good one off this album.
Sascha Paeth, the red/beige guitar lead with the camo pants is quite possibly the most notable and influential person in power/symphonic metal in recent history - amazing musician/producer, he's played in and produced some of the very best albums in the genre with bands like Angra, Rhapsody, Kamelot, Epica, After Forever and many others, the guy is incredibly talented and deserves all the praise he gets and much more. Without him and his band Steeltower the newer wave of power metal alongside Helloween, Grave Digger and a couple others may have been far different and many of the huge bands (the aforementioned ones he works with and others) we see today may not be where they are.

I think they explained in one of their videos that their "underground" classification is not based on the global fan size of the artist/band, rather based on the number of fans in their audience.

Did you listen to any of Tobias Sammets original band Edguy? He started waaay early writing songs, Edguy was started when he was 14. The very early stuff is a little rough around the edges production wise but at around Vain Glory Opera is where at least I think they found their stride. Its an amazing album! I'd recommend the song Theater of Slavation from the album with the same name thou. Have a happy metal day! (its every day btw)

A year late and $.05 short; the Scarecrow actually does make the deal with the devil, whom is promising fame and fortune. It goes great for a while but eventually things fall apart and he confronts the devil - on the song “Another Heaven” on the third album of this trilogy.

Ayreon has the same concept as Avantasia. Tobias Sammett, the composer of Avantasia sings on an album of Ayreon and Arjen Anthony Lucassen, the composer of Ayreon, plays a solo on an Avantasia album.
You really should look at the latest live concert of Ayreon: The electric castle and other tales. Or the previous live concert: Ayreon Universe live.

fyi..Avantasia are a side project of frontman Tobias Sammet,his main band is Edguy,a lot of the singers and musicians in the band are also in other bands so touring is a bit of a logistical nightmare having to get as many of them free to go on tour at the same time ,but it is a big event when they do get together,so many great artists on one stage,Jorn Lande,Micheal Kiske,Amanda Somerville,Bob Catley and so many others

Ayreon is another band from this genre. There are two live concerts. Ayreon Universe Live is with Floor and Irene Jansen and also Marko from Nightwish. Hansi from Blinded Guardian and many others. The last one, Into the electric castle and other tales is with Simone Simons and Mark Janssen from Epica, Fish from Marillion and many others.

The mighty Jorn Lande. Some call him the european Dio. Amazing singer. This is a great song. Avantasia can be hit or miss but with the right guest singers its pretty great. Sign of the Cross is probably my favorite from Avantasia. Awesome singers on that one.
I dunno about the bass player but the bald guitarist I think is Oliver Hartmann. An amazing singer in his own right (and incredible guitarist) who used to sing and play guitar for At Vance. On the studio version he didn't sing on this song. But the studio version also featured Michael Kiske (Helloween) who wasn't on this particular live version.
