I went to Astoria Seafood last time I visited NYC. It's truly amazing and I still think of that dinner. You can bring your own booze if you like to enhance the experience :)

Sarah, I bet the reason the restaurant is called "Traif" is that in Yiddish that word means unkosher; hence they specialize in pork and shellfish, both of which are not kosher. The food looks delicious there (as does all the food in your video) and I can't wait to visit my old hometown again to try it out. Your food tour looks fantastic, also.

One big thing I miss about living in NYC is the food. Dim sum on a Sunday was one of my favs, and of course being a carnivore I loved the BBQ! Brings back good memories. :)

Ethiopian food has meat! I recommend checking out Awash on the upper west side or their LES location, my mom has worked there for 20 years and they serve some of the most delicious Ethiopian food ever!

Sarah, please could I request just one thing on your food videos? When you're recommending a place, could you leave the name of it on screen just so it's easier to search/save and saves a lot of time going back through the videos to find?

Hi Sarah, your videos are great. The Ethiopian restaurant looks awesome. Quick correction, though; Ethiopian food does have meat. I think it's just the restaurant you've chosen. There's definitely a wide range of vegetarian and vegan food but there are a lot of fish, chicken and goat/lamb dishes as well.

Clinton Street Baking Company is really good. My son took me there for brunch. I had a Spanish scramble while he had a type of Eggs Benedict and we shared chocolate chip pancakes. We had to wait thirty minutes to get a table, though, so we waited at Pause Cafe across the street. I also went to Szechuan Mountain House. I had the double cooked pork while son had a spicy beef with peppercorns and the pea shoots (he loves pea shoots). Whoa, when I looked a the price of Omakase at Sushi Nakazawa, that's quite expensive! I'm sure it's good, though. We usually have omakase at Kissaki (at the Bowery). Gaonnuri is also good. Penthouse Korean barbecue with a view of Manhattan. Cote Korean Steakhouse is very difficult to reserve. My son has been wanting to take me there, but it is always fully booked. Mastro's Steakhouse in Midtown was also really good. The appetizers like Shrimp and Lobster Cocktail and Oysters on the Half Shell were really good, followed by the Porterhouse Steak for Two. The hand roll counter at Noz Market is also good. I tried it for the first time when I visited NYC on Labor Day. We took the $50/person set.
I really like that you went beyond cheap eats and presented really good restaurants. Even the lower cost ones (Clinton Street Baking Company isn't really that low in cost. For the brunch, my son ended up spending about $93+) were relatively boujee. While I prefer cheaper eats, my son goes for ambience, so we end up eating in more expensive restaurants.

The “fun fact” is incorrect. Ethiopian food does have meat. They eat goat, beef (both cooked and raw), chicken.. just the one you went to is a vegan Ethiopian restaurant.
