Is Restaurant Gordon Ramsay in London Worth The Hype? 3 Michelin Stars!

- Gordon Ramsay may be one of the most famous chefs on the planet, thanks to his plethora of reality TV shows like Kitchen Nightmares, Hell's Kitchen, MasterChef, and the F Word, but it's easy to forget that he is objectively a very accomplished chef from a Michelin standpoint. He has amassed 17 Michelin stars throughout his career, but his fame all started when he opened Restaurant Gordon Ramsay in London. Also known as Restaurant Gordon Ramsay at Royal Hospital Road, the restaurant was Ramsay's first solo restaurant and within a few short years it received three Michelin stars.
While many of Gordon's other restaurants, particularly in the US, are more so casual spots and even tourist destinations, such as Gordon Ramsay Pub & Grill, Gordon Ramsay Steak, and Gordon Ramsay Fish and Chips, his flagship Restaurant Gordon Ramsay has held three Michelin stars for more than 20 years, which is an absolutely surreal accomplishment. The question though is if it deserves its reputation as such an excellent restaurant, or if it's just coasting off its name and its celebrity chef's name at this point. We'll find out together!
This is the highlight of the London series so hopefully you enjoy it!

We weren't wealthy or anyone special but just wanted to treat ourselves, so we went to this restaurant not long after it opened and Gordon got his 3rd Michelin Star, and it was sensational. It was torrential rain, we got soaked and the staff were fantastic, getting us towels, and a hair dryer etc. The food was nothing short of an outstanding 'culinary experience' and Gordon was not only in the kitchen, he came out, spoke with us and posed for a photo with us...a wonderful memory...What a legend he was back then!
I've never seen anyone enjoy a meal with a look of extreme pain and discomfort.
what an obnoxious face
Guy is an imbecile
I watch strictly for the stupidity
Its disorienting 😂
Not going to lie. When his face shows that he loves somethings is also the same face as disgust. I always get confused from his reactions a bit ha
The more disgusted he looks the more he likes it. If he has a plain expression the food is garbage.
What about love making faces
yea it looks like he's hurt even
Yeah, his faces remind me of the 'stink faces' musicians make to other musicians when their music sounds good. I do the same as a musician lol

Thanks for not being a hater and not contradicting a hyped restaurant just to create controversy for views. I really like your honesty man 👍
I am super pleased and grateful that you shelled out the big $$$ to do a full tasting menu and get a complete experience from Ramsay's flagship (as it is the only way to realistically assess a 2 or 3 Michelin star restaurant.) And you did a wonderful job conveying how each item tasted without the cliches that fine dining foodie influencers can fall back on. Although this isn't the main focus of the channel, once I wanted to note this was greatly appreciated. Hope you get a lot of views for this!
Most chefs would kill for a SINGLE Michelin star on their restaurant, even just one of them marks absolutely delicious food at a great restaurant, the fact that Gordon Ramsay has managed to achieve 17 of them shows how much of a skilled perfectionist he is as a cook.
We were treated to several facial expressions as yet unseen, so regardless of what you think about the price, it was obviously an utterly new experience. And after all, "we're here for a good time, not a long time." Great review, UA.

Ive been to Gordons place in AC. In Harras. Absolutely amazing. SpeciallyWet wedge blue cheese salad and NY Strip. Omg
I went to HK in Vegas twice in a row. Excellent food, service and ambiance. All of his places that I have gone to were well worth it. Glad you got to enjoy the experience with the person you love. I met him last year in Vegas and he is the nicest guy. Warm and friendly to everyone that spoke to him. His staff say the same thing about him.
I thought HK was a TV studio, and not a real restaurant
@@cyclopsvision6370 it is a TV studio but the restaurants are designed to look like the show. There is one in NYC and Vegas. There may be others too.
Agreed. Definitely not his TV persona. That's all for raitings.
Chef Clare really elevated the dishes at Gordon London. Majority of the dishes you see there, especially the greens and desserts were made by her. She is a beast in the culinary world.
Your face says you hate but your words say you love it.
UA, I have just come across your content ( I love your Bio) and further to the GR review I’m hooked!! You appear to be a man of my own heart, in that it’s not about the quantity but the presentation and the flavours. Your facial expressions throughout the courses and meal made me laugh and reminded me of my response when eating at a Ramsay. We have not eaten here before; however, we will be after this video. We have eaten at several of his other restaurants in London and we just love his mix of flavours and presentation, the detail is exceptional, Pétrus is one of our favourites. Having tried many "Michelin" chefs around the world, we do feel Ramsay has the best combination. He does not go overboard and keeps it simple.
I look forward to watching some of your past videos and the future ones. We spend a lot of time in the US, so I look forward to seeing what you have reviewed in the past over there.
Thanks again and I wish you a Merry Christmas and Foodfull New Year!!!
11:25 In case anyone was curious why the spoon has a notch, it's a French Sauce Spoon intended to eat the sauce that's leftover from fish and meat dishes. It's not for scooping asparagus.

The Bar and Grill was the site of “ Aubergine “ his first restaurant he part owned where he got his first Michelin star . I worked there a couple of times many years ago in the nineties.
The starters (canapes, beef tartare etc) and some of the main dishes looked AMAZING (the asparagus and ratatouille looked particularly good)! I would have expected his restaurant to be all hype, marketing and no actual substance. I don't eat red meat but the beef dishes still looked appetizing to me. I would have expected there to be more than "one" lobster ravioli but overall a very impressive meal! Thanks for taking us along.
last October, went to uk for the first time to celebrate my wife’s bday, we both love Chef Ramsay, lucky enough I had managed to reserve a table at the Ramsay restaurant. Totally understand the reaction, we were blown away as well, the food is excellent , the service is exceptional, and I will do it again if I ever visit UK
fine dining is so crazy. The portions they give you are so small but then again they gave you many different dishes. Such an interesting experience
People often forget that for a good portion of his training Gordon trained under Marco Pierre White...and to make it with that guy you had to be one of the best chefs in the world...that guy was even on an other level than Ramsey...in skill and insaneness
Marco is the GOAT of British Chefs. Youngest ever to win 3 Michelin Stars.

Matt Abe is incredibly well regarded as a chef in his own right. In terms of 3 star and central London that was good value. Hope you enjoy your trip!
There were bugs on his food...he should have gotten it for free.
It seems no matter at what price point or concept that the consistent theme is Gordon’s restaurants offer excellent food at all levels. At least that’s what I’ve seen from watching several reviews of his different places. Glad to see you crushing it UA!!!
There was bugs on his food. I'm not sure I'd call that excellent.
So glad you enjoyed it UA! We have eaten here several times and it never fails to impress… fantastic service, professional and discrete, but not at all pretentious…. I rate the lobster ravioli I had there as one of my all time favourite dishes…! Glad you are enjoying your trip over here…..! Safe travels….! 👍

I actually look forward to vegetable dishes in restaurants the most, because vegetables are so good and underrated if done well. But choosing Ratatouille over Gordon Ramsay's famous signature Lobster Ravioli would have been so incredibly unlikely for me, but UA Eats is so convincing that I might share half a ravioli and half a ratatouille with my lunch mate if I ever get the chance to be there. Restaurant Gordon Ramsay is my destination goal to try, if I ever travel to UK.

£210 for 3* in central London is amazing value! And you don’t measure how good a 3* meal is by how stuffed you feel when you’ve finished.
That is excellent value, Cumbria is more expensive than London for fine dining imho
Shame about bug on salad
Very true

@@philipgibson2066 there has been since L'Enclume in Cartmel get its third star in 2022.
I’ve eaten at his flagship restaurant since his first opening when he was the chef and perhaps 20+ more times since. It is one of the very best restaurants in the world! Stand in Budapest is right up there too. Next time have take 4 and have their Sommelier, James Shaw, pair wine with each course. It elevates the meal to a stratospheric level. Finally, I’m sorry you missed the best restaurant manager in the entire world, Jean-Claude Breton, who brings the meal to another level when he accompanies and explains each course! Enrico Baronetto replaced Jean-Claude as he moved to being Brand Ambassador. 👏👏👏
It’s quite a shame that most vloggers have no interest in wine. 😢

It looks like he close his eyes and press his way through it, and while he’s chewing I’m waiting for him to say that was terrible or bitter!!! Then he says that was spectacular!!!!! Gets me everytime

What certainly comes across is the grace of GR's food- natural rather than hyper-experimental to the fashion of making baked beans taste like truffels, etc etc - to hell with scientific impros, long live GR's touch - many thanks, Mr Reviewer

These places should welcome TH-camrs; it’s honestly free publicity for them!
I agree but I kinda get it from their perspective. If you already are a very prestigious restaurant you don't have much to gain and everything to lose if a TH-camr posts a bad review. Otherwise places like this tend to only allow TH-camrs who are vetted in advance and they schedule your visit. That's why I just show up unannounced so I can pass as a tourist and always give honest reviews
