Make some clips out of the same pipe, cut a small sections out of the pipe and screw to the base board, and it wont cost you anything, cut small sections of the pipe from offcuts then cut each ring to make a c shape.
Oh Jessie, I really can feel your disappointment with your tomatoes my dear. I remember last year your were so happy and proud of all the tomatoes produced. I remember you and your mum doing the taste test. I even have got myself some Alice wonder because of your enthusiasm about it. I can't understand why you are having trouble with the tomatoes in London that is at least 3 or 4 degrees warmer than where I live ( in Ramsgate) and all my tomatoes has ripped and still are getting ripped right now. I hope you have better luck with the winter crops this year. I can't grow much, it's very cold around here. 😂
Re attaching the netting to the poles: a slightly larger gauge pipe cut into short sections and a third or so of the width removed will make a clip that will slip over the existing pipe and hold the nets in place via friction. Food for thought. Good looking covers.
Blue water pipe clips on Amazon Jessie might work. They have a hole to screw into the frame and the top of the clip hinges open to put pipe in then clip shut. Feeling discouraged in my neck of the woods. Council may double rents and turn water off 😢 uncertain times ahead. I absolutely love my allotment it’s much more than growing vegetables it’s my healing place to be at peace.
So beautiful garden Jessie, it gives me inspiration and ideas for vegetables garden. Thanks for sharing with us. Well done with your vegetables..pak Choi looks so delicious.❤❤❤
I am primarily an herb gardener, food and medicinal, and my garden looks nothing like that Newt one!😢 😅 Of course drought doesn't help! Thank you for the visit😊
Esplier! Oh my, what an amazing garden! Jessie I was a National trust member, a Yellow book devote and visited gardens across the globe and none were as exciting to visit as NEWT. Made all the more special being one of your guests where your and your mum's enthusiasm was just incredibly infectious. Despite the weather your plot is looking lush and productive but I did worry about those pipes pinging out and hitting one of you! I kinda partially looked away thinking if I just looked carefully you would be OK. ...😁😂😁😂😅
Oh this reminds me of what Sir Tony Robinson said in a Time Team, No newts is good newts. I've never laughed so hard! I learn so much from you all. Thx
See what you mean now about the clips. Yes i was like your Mum and stayed in the conservatory/utility area! We got down to 3c, then 4c but was a lovely day Sat so all was well party day! So much smoother now they are all another year older but still choas of 10 kids running about the house and garden! Our child loves it but also sometimes gets overwhelmed with so many children in the house as an only child. Hardly any party food left as hubby choose to get party bites instead of me cooking proper food for in between lunch and dinner party. Nearly finished both cakes. Carrot cake i made for their actual birthday and in laws came over and Tesco chocolate cake for the party. Success! Not been down to Somerset for some years now and Stonehendge didn't seem that great as you passed. I remember when they put the rope barriers up there. I think i have a pic somewhere from the 80's, when it was the obligatory thing to stand in a certain spot and you can pretend that you are carrying a large stone! lol That shop place looks like the kind where you put your cash budget in an envelope and the the card behind... I like old stately gardens but you soon notice the landscape and upkeep of their core infrastructure in a bad growing year! The rest is just spills and thrills. Yes we bought coriander and it died when it got hot. Sowed more seeds, which got to 3 inches and then started to bend over. Another load are coming up in the pot and fingers crossed we might have some this autumn if it doesn't get too hot/ humid again. Yes we left our cherry tomatoes like i mentioned last week too but tided them up a bit. The honeycomb in the small pot came in that cold spell. When i bring it in for winter i am going to strip the side shoots. I really want to strip the chilli plants of aphid damage first and blitz clean it the area but what with the party and all i ran out of time. Talking of running out of time, i had two glasses soaking the Dr Tony's seeds for next year. When i was cleaning up for the party, i even changed the manky water so not to gross people out. I wanted to put them on a plate to dry on the breakfast bar but wanted it clear for party stuff and we have tomatoes already ripening on the bar. Absolutely gutted checking tonight after recording to find the majority of them have started to sprout! They were from the big Bertha's too! I also put another plastic shot glass off California wonder bell pepper seeds to one side for the party and they have gone furry too. Not impressed. I would remove a few more leaves from the toms and leave the window open. If you have the funds for it get a solar panelled fan to reduce the humidity levels. Did you see Charles Dowding's video and his poly tomatoes? This is why i am scared to poly the main bed. Topping the toms have increased the ripening. I have some decent rootings of cuttings that i am slowly potting up to over winter. Now the new trellis is holding up well going to fit the garden mesh when we finally have cabbages to plant, after taking out the toms, so i can measure the whole 6m bed properly and make up a brolly "hat". Also thinking up plans on easy inter changeable covers. I also need to think about how i will manage the tomatoes in the space. We upgraded from 2 to 3 m high trellis structure but again, even with lowering the cherries are at least 5 m and growing over the poles now. I am looking for 10x10cm 20mm scaffolding feet. The trouble with having crazy paving bed is that it isn't easy to fix things into place. Hubby also went out there without my plans and did stuff and wondered why it didn't fit... With the expensive steel pipes i had i to justify to buy... Those labels were off, not just you. Hope you enjoy this glorious week of lovely weather! 25c on Thursday! Let's go! Hiding my cool weather crops. Also, bummed out with another lot of bad seeds. Sugar snaps not germinating? Same company for a lot this year. Disappointed. Take care!
Just had to comment on this latest video ( Have been happily watching along for ages… since my last comment!!)….Because…..You and ‘Moms’ visit to the ‘Newt’ Garden ‘ was totally FABULOUS 🤩👍… even with the ‘awful weather conditions!….(great editing out, by the way)…I could have watched it for hours!!!…Every single part of that place was perfect… beautifully kept.. and the variety was endless… Never heard of it before??… Hope, as you said…that you will go against some point (or even more than once?!!🙏)…thank you so much for taking us there…and that little plaque… about gardens /gardening being a great ‘teacher’… was spot on!!!…Still love ‘The Plot’ as much as ever…and all of it s variety.. and the improvements you make.. in the ‘pest prevention war’…Love to ‘Lil’ and the ‘gorgeous Girlies’, of course!…. Sue(Bham)…Cheers, Folks🥂 🥝🥬🥦🌶…happy harvesting👋
What a good episode!! 😃A field trip to a quintessentially English garden! Stonehenge?! Nice! And of course, your allotment operation, done with humble dedication. I like how you talk to us about what you’re doing. I did not know of any reason to keep my cilantro out of the wind, but from now on I absolutely WILL. Thank you Jessie & warm greetings to your Mom.
Such a lovely garden, even in the wind. Does anyone know what the large leafed plant is in the center of the tiny purple/blue flowers? time stamp 26:53 Thanks for sharing your trip and your wonderful allotment!
Hello Jess and mum, I absolutely enjoyed today's video. I believe you have found the solution to the foxes and badgers. Fingers crossed for continued success. I loved going with you to the Newt Gardens. They are so lovely. The shops were fun, too. How could you not resist purchasing some bread and other goodies. Thank you. Have a wonderful day. Take care. ❤
I really hope im wrong but i think the Badgers are strong enough to lift the tube out of the clips, or even go straight threw the mesh, i would be tempted to make some sort of fastener so that the tube cant be pushed out by animals but is easy enough to lift out by you or mum
Hey Jessie, My whole day was derailed. I was supposed to see this video around noon at my house on Tuesday. So I went all day with a hole in my day and it was all wrong. lol I did get over it after a bit of self therapy! Even with the clouds and wind the field trip was really fun. I like how tight the bows were when you bent them over the garden bed. They stayed very straight even after the netting was stretched over them. The blue ones always seem floppy and weaker. The only success I had this year was tomatoes everything was very poor. The garlic onions and potatoes were ok this year. See ya next thyme, Steven
Wow, so glad you put the video up, I was worried when it didn't come up at teatime as normal. Checked on discord, just in case I hadn't had notification. Great video, enjoyed the roadtrip
Hi Jessie and your Mum, brilliant job on your second frame! Google black plastic pipe clips, they sell them in different sizes too, worth a look. What a beautiful place to visit with your Mum ❤ your tomatoes are looking good, your plot is thriving. Lovely update, thanks for sharing and take care 😊
I have used netting over the plastic frames for my garden and used needle and string to permanently stitch the netting onto the plastic, which saves time when you need to move the whole lot.
Thank you Jess for taking me along on your adventure. It’s a beautiful garden so many fantastic plants. Your garden is just a beautiful only a little smaller. Please take me again
Oh, oh even though it was a blustery day it is a fabulous garden you took us to! The gardens in my neck of the woods does not have veg. Shop’s quite nice too.❤😊
If you had a beautiful garden like that, you would definitely need staff 😂. I have just had a week off work and spent two days wrestling my plot into order, I have already planted out my onion seedlings and elephant garlic. Hoping to get broad beans and garlic out in the next couple of weeks. Jo Devon 🙂
Newt was amazing! I love gardens like that, though it is far more labor than I could ever accomplish. Thank you for showing it. 41:20 Oooo... it sounds like you may need another building project for a new potting bench coming up...? You do so well with those! Maybe after your done with all those beds covers. Very nicely done! 49:39 ...Let it Grow... let it grow... 😁
What an amazing garden and how come all there kales are eaten by caterpillars 😅. Shh 🤫 I’d be pinching chillies to take home for seed 😅. Bug palace wow that’s very cool. Apparently they don’t have foxes 🦊 and badgers 🦡 digging up all their stuff. Probably better with worse weather as less people. Good to know their labelling isn’t any better. Amazing place thank you for sharing and glad it was just a production issue 🤦♀️, Ali 🌦️🇨🇦
i planted out half my spring onions and left half outside in pots(on wicking mat water reservoir tray).the ones in pots have grown bigger..maybe the ones in the ground will hold on into winter better
Ah there you are ,I was wondering where you'd go too . Great to see the Newt I've been a couple of times and it's very well worth a visit, now as to your new bed covers, why not try to fix the netting on by using Velcro strips I also use them for plant ties, they last well and stay put nicely Cheers Both.
Wow Newt! Your new hoop covers look really good👍 Mum! In a dress! Looks like a little girl - You just want to scoop her up don't you? 😊 Cheers to autumn surprise joys x
Thank you for taking us to that gorgeous garden and the shops. What a treat. Your green house peppers are doing so well, looks like those planters you are using are working out well for you. Do the parakeets bother your garden at all?
I think I need a squash arch and the espalier fruit trees ! Thanks for the trip out great place to visit, must be put on the list. On potty mouth you mentioned Chilli jam would you put the recipe up plz. Take care xx

Really want to visit the newt garden but not up for spending £95 per person to get in! I only have time to go once really, so the years entry would be totally wasted on me. Why they don't do day tickets I have no idea!

Me too
Gardening & STONEHENGE! It does not get much better than that! Thank you for sharing your adventures with us ❤
Newt looks like the garden of dreams but 🤑. My Red Russian looks exactly like the one from Newt. Enjoyed the tour, thanks x

I know you are busy, could you please update your playlist. I need the newer videos to watch when I can’t sleep, almost every night ❤❤❤
That was great, thanks !
Google snap clamps, there are great for netting, plastic etc 20m and 25m sizes Thanks!
So glad you kept the gardens in Jess, absolutely stunning, thanks for sharing 😊
This garden is more beautiful than the Biltmore House, Castle in Asheville North Carolina gardens. Wow !
The kale looks like midnight sun 💜

I have stitched a lot of hen house repairs and vege net covers with Dental floss - its fine and strong and knots well
Thanks for the field trip. I loved the NEWT gardens🍁

Thanks for sharing your trip and your wonderful allotment!
Visited RHS Bridgewater just outside Manchester yesterday - such a lovely place!
7:17 Another option would be to get a slightly larger pipe and make 3cm clips from that.
Thanks for the Newt Garden field trip!

So glad you saw my message Jessie! Wasn't sure if there was a video this week until you mentioned it on Potty Mouth!
Enjoying your video whilst sat in the sun in Skiathos drinking an ice cold mythos beer. But missing my veg garden

Wow The Newt garden looks fabulous! Not too far for me to visit, so I’m planning to visit next year! Love how the hoops are coming on.
Why not cable tie the net to the frames, would make the job quicker and easy😊
Amazing Vegetable Garden....thanks for showing us...
Greetings Jess,
Have you thought about a cart like a potting table(movable)?
Cheers,
Upstate NY
what a fantastic garden and lovely video
If you put a thin piece of wood across the top with metal clips in it will stop the end sagging in when it gets very hot
Oh for days when it is hot 😮
I think I need a squash arch and the espalier fruit trees ! Thanks for the trip out great place to visit, must be put on the list. On potty mouth you mentioned Chilli jam would you put the recipe up plz. Take care xx
Wow thank you that trip out was amazing
Newt looks beautiful Jessie, was it in Somerset? 😊🍓🌷
Seeing as we've already passed the '100 days til Christmas '....
Dear Santa can I have:
An entire wall filled with apple trees
An entire tunnel of pumpkins
A fancy cloche
Oh and a jazzy spade!
Thanks
I’m going to watch these covers with interest, as your season progresses (assuming you plant some taller spreading crops in them - such as brassicas). I’m wondering if the centre supports will give you nightmares trying to open/close them without damaging crops/foliage?
We made some with wood and steel cloche hoops.whilst they’re undeniably stronger, they are also extremely heavy to open and close.. your alternative does seem to be much lighter weight.
We do have a metal ridge bar to keep everything square though
Lovely trip out. Gorgeous garden.
How tall are your brassica cages? Ours are 1 metre high but our Brussels and sprouting broccoli are push the net up on the top!
🐝thanks for the great video🌻
NEWT looks amazing!!! Did you really pay like £90 EACH to get in?!? that’s what the website says?? You have to buy an annual membership 😮😢
Jess with the hoop
Covers I’d suggest putting a length wise bar/rod either at the top only or top and mid sides to stop the net bowing inward (long term). What a fabulous garden. Where is the location please
Yay
Really want to visit the newt garden but not up for spending £95 per person to get in! I only have time to go once really, so the years entry would be totally wasted on me. Why they don't do day tickets I have no idea!
Hello My Jessie Babe , Love You.
does Newt know you are advertising for them
Wow you living by Stonehenge! Thank you for showing it. I love these road trips
Witch garden did you see on your trip
💐x
Fantastic garden, but I'm getting more cynical in my old age and always think how many tens or hundreds of thousands it costs and how many staff and what it costs to maintain oh well if I do the lottery and have a big win no need to guess were ill spend every penny
Hiccups time?
Aren't you totally different to ya mam size build looks 😊
Wow such an ignorant comment. News flash she has a Dad and isn't a clone!
