I made homemade parachutes out of trash bags and kite string. They were 4x bigger than the original and would float very slowly. If you caught the wind just right, it would lift them back into the air and sail down the street. We would have to run after them and hope they didn't land in someone else back yard. But even when they did, we were quick to jump the fence and ready to launch them again. One time one never came down. The wind picked it up and lifted it higher in the air. It was sailing far faster than I could run. I lost sight after it went about 3 blocks from my house. He never was recovered... Never underestimate a trash bag parachute!

Such a great fun review! The adult collector conditioning have went Ahhhhh! when your son was tearing into those cards, but at the same time I love that he did and you let him do that, cause that's how I tore into my new toys as a kid, I just wanted to play and didn't care about the packaging. I also love that you're treating these as toys, not as collector "look but don't play with" items, cause they're at their best as toys, and it's great to see you playing with them with your kid... makes me wish my kids was still in that playing age, so I'd have a play buddy. Also really enjoyed your receive, which was very comprehensive. Sounds like the few criticisms you've had are something that everyone has, but the good far outweighs the small issues. Like yourself, I never had the Skystriker as a kid, nor as an adult, I never felt the need to get it and always found other vehicles I gravitated towards more... but this Haslab sucked me in, and I'm glad it did, cause this thing really is very cool, and everything is comes with and the figures just make it so much better. It's the vehicle that I never thought I needed, but so glad I have it now. My only hope is that Hasbro decide to do a Rattler, so that we have something the Skystriker can fight. A Haslab Rattler with all the trimmings would be great, but I'd even take just a rerelease of regular one with Wild Weasel... That's a vehicle I've never had, but always wanted.
Thanks for the great comment. My two older sons are well past the Gi Joe playing stage so it is nice to have the youngest still get excited about this stuff. And he's a good little dude when it comes to being delicate with some things. I did mention to someone that I would have save the file cards but he was having fun. I love the idea of a Haslab Rattler. They just need to make sure they get the landing gear right LOL
@@ActionRobotPunch Yeah, so nice you can still savor these moments with your youngest... and the fact that he takes care of this toys is an added bonus for sure. Agreed about the Rattler landing gear, I've heard that it's always been a weak point on that vehicle, and it would be nice if it doesn't collapse as easily as this Skystriker. Even though the Vector Jet was not a fan favorite (I loved it as a kid), it's landing gears were super solid, and I never had any worry with either damaging them, nor collapsing.
Had a sky striker back in the 80's, the parachute was plastic that worked but was not long lasting. The only issue I had as a kid was the fact that the wing swing was connected to the landing gear.
@@ActionRobotPunch agreed and I'm glad the made the hook integral rather than separate. I lost my tail hook in the first couple of weeks after I got it back in the day. I also wasn't a collector back then so sometimes the GI Joe war included fireworks...so many regerts
Real talk, watching your son destroy those card backs was a little bit heart breaking but he is a kid and you are a good dad for letting him have his experience with his toy. I certainly destroyed many cards as a small child not caring about them and just wanting the figure inside. Destroying cards is the right of all small children
Thanks for the comment. I hear you. I just wanted to get it out and play with the jet and figs and let him have fun discovering all the parts and me as well. He was a little brutal. I'd have saved the file cards at least LOL Thanks for watching.
Aye. I imagine I myself also destroyed my share of Star Wars cards in the late 70s. XD Though with that, I feel he gave his son something far more valuable in that moment, the same feeling we ourselves had at those times! =)
@@ActionRobotPunch If you're looking for more songs with that kind of Top Gun-esque feel and theme, you should also check out "Silent Thunder" by Crazy Lixx.
I wish I bought 2 of these. My front landing gear doesn’t stand up very well either. It also looks like the hole in the back of the figure is smaller than the original GI Joes.
Great video! I can’t wait to start getting mine all sticker’d up hopefully this week🤞 For some strange reason Scarlet’s bow didn’t come with a handle but hopefully you have an accessory pack one to use. Great video very enjoyable 🤙
Really nice job on the video. I need to know where you found the rolling yellow ladders though. My Flagg is very sad and I think a couple of those on the deck will make her happy 😏
Very detailed detailed review. Thank you for showing what we can expect with the skystriker. I thought i gonna fainth when your son ripped off the card of ace. Lol. ( sorry, i collect the card backs too.) I agree about the texture of the skystriker compaired to the 30th one. Its looks like the classic 83 skystriker plastic but with a more durable plastic that used version. Also, good to see how the arrester hook and its updated gimmik works now. I also like the review goes and how you guys having fun with it. It made me excited to get mine soon too.
Mine is coming today! Than it’ll be set up in my kids room for him to play with and me of course! Hasbro team Needs to bring out more vehicles whether 3.75 or 6” scale. Vehicles defined the line!
They did awesome with this release. Every time I think about jumping back into collecting joe's tho I think about how many times Hasbro has screwed us tho.
Yeah I don't keep my stuff in the package so I just let him have at it. Didn't realize it'd upset some folks. He is really good with the toys though. Maybe next time I'll show him how to open it more gently. Thanks for watching.
Do you get tiny air bubbles under some of the larger stickers? I'm assuming it's inevitable at this point. No matter how hard I try, or how slow I get, I'll get a few, like on the long wing stickers.
No I worked them out. I just put down the one end of the sticker and then use something like a credit card to push the sticker down and work out any bubbles before going too far. Hope that helps.
Yeah I saw that. I love that kind of creative reuse. It doesn't cost them much but adds that little bit extra. I bought the skystriker to go with my flagg so haven't tried out that runway yet but I'm thinking it'd be great for a Rattler.
I hate that I missed the Haslab HISS tank, but I was able to get one of the Haslab Dragonflies before the campaign ended - in retrospect, I should have purchased 2.
Thanks. It was supposed to be a draw but my son doesn't like to lose. So he nailed the skystriker with a final missile shot. Good excuse to toss the parachutes off the stairs LOL
What would have been nice is if there was a hole on the end of missile blast so you attach it to the plane simulating that the missile launched. Moving the missile forward and attached by blast instead.
I have bought so many sticker sets from Toyhax. That's a great idea. I wonder if he or someone else has done one? Thanks for the idea and for watching.
Great review! Two questions, are the wings able to dissemble if you want to place the jet back into the nice packaging box? Second question, can this Skystriker allow modern 4" GI Joe figures to fit inside the duo cockpit comfortably?
I wouldn’t try pulling the wings out because they snap in very tightly. BUT there a couple screws that I think you can unscrew to remove the wing more cleanly. Just don’t lose the screws. And I don’t think 4” figs will fit comfortably. The o-rings feel like they just make it, but maybe the right fig would work. 👍
Though I am primarily a loosecollector nowadays my heart skip a beat when your son RIPPED that figure Ace off the card LOL... I'm also a package collector so I'm going to be opening mine but I will be cutting the bubble off cleanly....
You don’t need to go around calling people names because they don’t collect the way you do. We’re all fans of Gi Joe. We’re just into different aspects of the toy line.
I think the problem with the front landing gear is door in front of the tires is touching the ground not the tires. This is kind of a major flaw and should be addressed by hasbro It can’t taxi without closing the door.
Where can i get the carts and ladders you printed? Ps on the left side of the skystriker there are 3 panels you can remove to see the gun and ammo box.
i got mine a few days ago. Im enjoying but the failsafe broke the peg off the back of the chair. he was really tight and I couldnt get the figure out. hoping hasbro gives me a new chair I already contacted customer support.
Oh man, that sucks. I hope they hook you up. I bet you could also jerry rig a new peg by using an the peg off an old o ring back pack or something. Hasbro should sort it out though.
@@ActionRobotPunch i took photos of the broken piece so I got the proof. I think the problem is they made the back peg way to thick so it was really hard to even put on. let alone take the figure out. i noticed it wasnt as bad with Ace so maybe its just Fail-safe they made the peghole to small. I have those 2 pilot my skystriker just like the box art.
I'd rate it an 8 out of 10. Looks and feels great. Lots of accessories and extra figures. But like I said in the video the landing gear is weak how it collapses if you push it forward, the cockpit glass is too dark and Scarlett's crossbow has no grip. It's also really large. I'd definitely recommend it.
Am I seeing that the card backs on the figures are not re-closeable clam shell style? I just recently bought one aftermarket and I was not sure if the cards were re-closeable not a deal breaker for me, obviously, just curious.
@@ActionRobotPunch thanks for replying. I will have to get cases for them and hang them up. I will open the vehicle when I get it, but I don't really collect o-ring much anymore.
Did that kid just destroyed the cards of those exclusive figures? Man....... I will make sure when I unbox mine to use a knife to keep the cards intact 😀💡

@@ActionRobotPunch Because picking some up from Wal-Mart that arent one of a kinds would be so difficult? Admit you just wasted a $250+ collector item when you could have bought him $15 figurines.
@@calvinhobbes6118 Hey man it’s all good, if they wanna open their figures it’s alright. We’re all just having fun here. It all comes down to personal preference
From what I has seen, none of the Scarlett's crossbows have a handle. Not sure what they had in mind on that maybe should have gave her a pistol like on her card picture.
Thanks for the info. I thought that maybe we'd lost a part when opening the packaging. That's so weird. I have other Gi Joe Scarletts and they all have pistol grip crossbows. Very strange.
I wanted it so bad but missed out. This is something that could of been released to retail, but with out all the extra stuff that no one is going to use. And sold way more. So many people missed out. Hasbro messed up again, screwing over the fans.
I’d bet they’re going to release just the plane maybe with only ace. Why would they make the toy box with all that extra room? The two wings, some missiles and ace would easily fit in there. Hasbro will wait a year, then announce one in grey plastic, with one set of stickers and ace only so none of the exclusives. Sound plausible?
@@ActionRobotPunch Hasbro has yet to re-release any Haslabs. I missed out on the Sail Barge and I'd love to have that, but I also understand how those who did get one would be upset at the decrease in exclusivity if more were put on market. I do hope that they release the ground crew for this set.
Me too. I was really bummed that I didn’t have the ketchup and mustard guys to help on deck with the skystriker. It’d be great to get a bunch of them for the Flagg.
@@KoolKatDave That's not true, they did a retail release of the Hero Quest board game through Haslab. The only difference in the retail release is a barcode on the box whereas the Haslab release has no barcode on the box. Of course there was the higher tier with the extra models. Those were exclusive to the Haslab release as well. I'm kicking myself that I totally forgot when the last day of the Haslab funding for the Skystriker was and missed it. I'm not too fussy about the extras so I'm crossing my fingers hoping for a retail release of the Skystriker. I mean, they made all the tooling for it, might as well use it!

Star Wars an transformers and destroyed em. had gotten original skystiker that I got with my own money snow shoveling and doing yard work as a young kid back then around the neighborhood. Since I couldn’t take any of my stuff with me I rem taken the jet and ace and putting lighter fluid all over it lighting it on fire and throwing it off a high bridge by me and then seeing the parachute open up and fly down to the ground till that to went up in flames. Other things my friends and I shot up with a 22 rifle we had. Yeah times were alit different for me growing up in the 80s. Still always regretted destroying All my toys bk then that I bought with my money but it was either that or my parents were throwing em out after I left they said. To people who say troubled kids shouldn’t go into the military I disagree big time. The military is what put me straight and even helped me become a fireman paramedic later in life till my injury. But now I started recollecting toys of my last. Man do I wish still had all the stuff I rem having as a kid.

The US wanted to keep the Shah happy and he had lots of money to spend on gear. They didn't plan on the Iranian revolution. Taiwan actually has hundreds of US f-16s, probably a better fit for their air defense needs. And Ukraine was still a part of the USSR in the 90s so the F-14 wouldn't have made sense by the time they left. Thanks for watching.
I was never that into collecting the file cards. It just felt like paperwork or homework to me but I get why some folks like to keep them. Now if they’d bring back Flagg points, I’d have been all over cutting those out and saving up for something. Thanks for watching 👍
This is almost the same toy in the same size as the original and the reissue that came out at target. Yeah, they charge so much sucking money.. this project should have failed but too many stupid people out there
It comes with a lot of great stuff. I don’t think any other release came with so many figures, support vehicles, extra weapons, fx, a stand and the changes to the plane. Like bringing back 2 seats with parachutes. And the separate controls for wings and gear. It’s a pretty awesome package.
I didn’t give this set to any of my kids 😁 We just opened it together and played with it. My son has plenty of his own toys including a couple HISS, Vamp, some joes and many other action figures. Thanks for watching.
Why didn't you teach you son the proper way to open the figure container? He destroyed the card and didn't even know it. I know you got a spare, but it was still painful to watch. If he sees this in about ten years and still loves these toys, (because we never really grow up when it comes to GI Joe), he is going cringe that he destroyed that.
I did it so that he could enjoy opening the figures. So that he could have the fun of ripping something open just like we did when we were kids. He wanted to play with the figures and hold them in his hand. By the time he's 10 I can only hope he'll have some interest in Gi Joe toys but will probably have moved on. But we had that day, the two of us, ripping into a brand new toy, putting it together, throwing Joes off the roof and landing our new skystriker on the deck of a 7 foot toy aircraft carrier. I wouldn't change a thing.

@@joefan6316 Yeah it's a bummer. I have found that REALLY pully the hook back as far as it'll go and hard, it seems to stay ok. I'll post a video if I ever do break it open and try to find a solution.
Awesome video! The new sky striker looks amazing!
Thanks so much.
Yeah it’s really great that the two features are now separated. Thank you.
It reminded me of the joy of getting those things, RIPPING the card open and FREEING the toy!
also instantly losing the accessories...
Ahh, childhood!
Good Dad👍
Aye. I imagine I myself also destroyed my share of Star Wars cards in the late 70s. XD Though with that, I feel he gave his son something far more valuable in that moment, the same feeling we ourselves had at those times! =)
Got another YT page with "Danger Zone" on loop to see this review!
Such a great song. Thanks for watching.

I wish I bought 2 of these.
My front landing gear doesn’t stand up very well either. It also looks like the hole in the back of the figure is smaller than the original GI Joes.
They take up so much space though. I hope someone works out a good fix for the gear.
Great video! I can’t wait to start getting mine all sticker’d up hopefully this week🤞 For some strange reason Scarlet’s bow didn’t come with a handle but hopefully you have an accessory pack one to use. Great video very enjoyable 🤙
Yeah I might just 3d print one for her. Thanks.
You are so Lucky
Very lucky 👍 Always work to tilt the odds in your favor. Craps is my game.
Really nice job on the video. I need to know where you found the rolling yellow ladders though. My Flagg is very sad and I think a couple of those on the deck will make her happy 😏
I made them. Check out this video th-cam.com/video/81zukL8nEGQ/w-d-xo.html
I was gonna preorder it but missed out at the last minute. Looks pretty sweet 👍🏻
Yeah I think they did a good job. Thanks for checking out the video.
I missed the original Haslab opportunity. Looking at the ones posted on Ebay.
Good luck with the search. Seems like there are a lot for sale and prices are coming down. It’s a great set.
Thanks so much. I’m glad you enjoyed the review.
excellent review, etc. my question, some put missiles etc. on the stand, what's up with that? Are those extras? unsure here, thanks.
I think so but haven't changed up the missiles on mine since I got it and I didn't attach anything to the stand.
Mine is coming today! Than it’ll be set up in my kids room for him to play with and me of course! Hasbro team
Needs to bring out more vehicles whether 3.75 or 6” scale. Vehicles defined the line!
That’s great and I’d also love to see more vehicles. So many great ones over the years. Thanks for watching.
@@ActionRobotPunch just got it amazing, son is 10 and super excited. Love the old card back style with ONE language!
Love how this thing looks for the most part just wish it had a Matt/flat coat to better reflect the real world craft
Yeah that would be nice. I guess you could hit it with a matt clear coat?
@@ActionRobotPunch yeah just a shame with it being a haslab i dont really want to mod or paint it
Well done.
Thank you so much.
They did awesome with this release. Every time I think about jumping back into collecting joe's tho I think about how many times Hasbro has screwed us tho.
Yeah I think they did a great job. And you can just stick to the vintage stuff if you're not a fan of some of what they do now. Thanks for watching.
Resale of just the plane could be difficult because they didn't put all the parts in the box. Collectors wouldn't have known that. Thanks!
I normally open up all my figures, but watching your son ripping open that Ace card-back, even I was like 😱
Yeah I don't keep my stuff in the package so I just let him have at it.
Hope that helps.
idk if you noticed, but the box appears to unfold into a runway. If i saw that correctly looks like hasbro gave us a bit of a play mat.
I think you did the right thing. The box will be huge. Better to save the space for your next purchase :)
@@ActionRobotPunch thanks! I wanted to ask, which figure scale is your skystriker compatible with (old school or new 6in)?
@@Gushe002 Old School, like the original.
Where did you get the yellow Mx stands, the jib crane and the engine trailers? Would you share those 3D print plans?
Yes I designed and 3d printed them. Right now I'm not selling the files. Thanks for watchig.
So where did you get the red white and blue decal stickers for the wings because I’m about to call Hasbro I don’t have any
Sounds like you found them. Glad to hear it.
Excellent Review, and my money is on the Rattler in the dogfight :)
I bet it'd be easy to modify one like that. A midflight missile would look pretty awesome. I know with your skills you could do it Gi Dad :)
@@ActionRobotPunch Thanks for the compliment. I admire the 3D printer skills that you have as well. Yo Joe!
I reckon you could talk Toyhax into a sticker set...
All I heard was Kenny Loggins' Danger Zone as soon as you had it on the stand.
Awesome. Thanks for watching.
Superb review! From where did you get the yellow ladders?
Thanks so much. I just made them on my 3d printer.
Though I am primarily a loosecollector nowadays my heart skip a beat when your son RIPPED that figure Ace off the card LOL... I'm also a package collector so I'm going to be opening mine but I will be cutting the bubble off cleanly....
I totally understand. I just keep all my figs in plastic cases so have no use for the bubbles or cardboard. But I do have a second one, just in case 😁
Its not too hard to teach a kid how to properly open one of these. Hes a fake collecter.
You don’t need to go around calling people names because they don’t collect the way you do. We’re all fans of Gi Joe. We’re just into different aspects of the toy line.
Awesome review as always! Thank you so much. Those yellow ladders fit right in! May i know where to get those?
Thanks so much. I made that as part of a custom set of ground crew gear.
@@ActionRobotPunch Do you make them for sales Sir?
Not now but I’d like to try casting a few to put up in my Etsy store. They’re just thin so it might be tough.
@@ActionRobotPunch Alright Sir, will check out your etsy store. I suppose its the same name as the channel?
I think the problem with the front landing gear is door in front of the tires is touching the ground not the tires. This is kind of a major flaw and should be addressed by hasbro It can’t taxi without closing the door.
It is really close but there is a gap on mine. I thought it might be the mechanism internally not locking fully.
The only thing i don't like about the Skystriker is it's a Haslab project.
Hasbro definitely could have put this in stores.
I'm just glad we got one. I don't mind haslabs. I find them kind of fun. Like the HISS was fun to follow but I didn't end up backing it.
The stickers they had them with the 25th and 50th skystriker
Good to know. Thanks for the info. 👍
Any news of future o-ring figures or vehicles? I suggested they sell the GI Joe ground crew that didn't get unlocked
Unfortunately I haven’t heard any news of new o-ring releases. My fingers are crossed that Hasbro continues the line 👍
Where can i get the carts and ladders you printed?
Ps on the left side of the skystriker there are 3 panels you can remove to see the gun and ammo box.
I just made those pieces myself. I haven't done a production run yet.
Well if you ever want to make some for sale let me know id love to buy some! :-)
I wish they would remake the Flagg.
If it was Mattel, they’d remake it. Will Hasbro step up? 😁
i got mine a few days ago.
Does anyone know if the Haslab skystriker "extra cockpit" and "tail fins" fit on the old 1983 skystriker?
I’m thinking about getting one what do you rate it out 10 in a big fan of g I Joe and the f 14
They are not re- closeable. The bubble is glued to the cardboard. Seems like the same process as the original Gi Joes.
@@ActionRobotPunch thanks for replying. I will have to get cases for them and hang them up. I will open the vehicle when I get it, but I don't really collect o-ring much anymore.
okay another question did you 3d print the yellow stands to do maintence on the flag if so cool
Yes 3d printed. Check out this video where I walk through the design th-cam.com/video/81zukL8nEGQ/w-d-xo.html

@@ActionRobotPunch Because picking some up from Wal-Mart that arent one of a kinds would be so difficult? Admit you just wasted a $250+ collector item when you could have bought him $15 figurines.

Lol I found it. It was a smaller sheet
Yeah it wasn't on the bigger sheets. Congrats!
Did you say toy?
Haha, I think so. Should I have said “GinJoe limited release scale model aircraft adult collectible”? 😁 Thanks for watching.
@Action Robot Punch I always say action figures.
Whats cool s you playing with your son

Still regret when I was 13 and my mother and step father kicked me out the house for good to live were ever I laid my head. I took all my g.I joes.
Sorry to hear that. But I’m glad you’re in a good spot and having fun collecting. I gave away, lost or sold most of my childhood stuff but maybe part of the fun is in trying to get some of it back? Thanks for watching. Yo Joe!
@4:00 the horror. file card erased. this is what saftey exacto knifes are for
Thanks for watching 👍
Americas greatest mistake is give the F-14s to Iran instead of Ukraine and Taiwan.
Man, at least show your kiddo how to open them without ripping the file cards. Awesome that he gets to open though.
Yeah he had fun. Thanks for watching. 👍
You didn't teach your son how to cut out and save the file cards. Not that there is a lot of those left to cut out
Hes failed badly here.
It’s a pretty awesome package.
how do you let your Child RIp those open, cant even watch
Sorry man. Didn’t mean to freak anyone out. We just wanted to get at the figs and I’m not a big card collector. Thanks for watching.
Ridiculous. This is a collector's edition item that wont be produced again. You could have bought him cheap figures from Wal-Mart. SMH.
@@ActionRobotPunch Fair enough, I will tell you to enjoy the hell out of it while you can, you are going to blink one day and wonder where in the hell the time went.
