My pot roast has four basic ingredients: a package of Lipton onion soup, a can of cream of mushroom soup (plus one can of water), some chopped onion and some sliced mushrooms. Everyone seems to love it, and any leftover gravy can be used in subsequent meals with pork or even with chicken. I live alone, so I freeze gravy in sandwich-sized bags for individual portions.

I remember when Lipton onion soup mix was first being used in roasts in the 60's. Mom tried it with our Sunday eye of round chuck roast and we all loved it and the gravy made from the juices was so good. I make it as often as I can and it's the same delicious flavors!

Instead of pouring all that juice AND fat on the meat, I would have snipped a corner of the liner and let the juices go into the roast and stopped the juices once it reached the fat top. Then just through the bag and layer of fat in the trash!! I will be making this, Melaney from SoCal

The thing I don’t like about most roast recipes, roast beef, pork, pot roast, is that they all say to put in the onions, carrots, potatoes and whatever other veggies in first. Some even say to sauté the veggies first, then they are already half cooked. That’s OK if you don’t plan to eat the veggies, just using them for flavor. If I’m going to cook veggies, I’m going to eat them, except maybe the onions. My mother always cooked the roast with onions, but the vegetables were always put in the last 30 minutes or so. We never liked our veggies turned into mush. I’m sure that with this recipe I could add some veggies during the last 30 minutes. I could cook the veggies separately, but putting them in the same pot with the roast gives the veggies a little extra flavor and I don’t have another pot to clean.

I’ve done the Mississippi pot roast and everyone thought it was great. Those peppers do it for me. I do cut back on the butter. Plenty juicy and delish on its own. In fact, next time I do one I might leave it out all together if the roast shows lots of fat!!
Tammy, thanks for showing us how two ingredients can make a scrumptious dinner!!

Do you eat pepperoncini's? Do you eat them on salads and sandwiches? If not, then why would you think you'd like a whole jar of them and juice in your roast?

@@leahwhiteley5164 on my end I love those peppers on salads and sandwiches or right out of the jar. but I don’t care for them on roast.

Hi Tammy!!! I never buy a Chuck Roast. I do not like fat at all. I like a good Rump Roast. Guess I could do that the same way. I only recently started making my roasts in the Crock Pot. I don't think my dear husband ♡ would of liked that. He liked roasts in the oven.I think it's ok and I cook it Low all nite long also. I like it fork tender and falling apart. Next time I will try your recipe. Sure looks super yummy.Nice Video!!!...🦋

She's trying to use affordable cuts. A $15/Pd roast is not for the crockpot. Or a $25/pd steak.

Lol lol , when you pulled off the freshness pad made me think what I did one time. I also had a beautiful chuck roast, put it in the crockpot with my seasonings and let it cook slow all day. Went to turn off crockpot looked inside to see how tender it was and saw white pieces of paper in it had no idea what it was so I went to turn over the roast and there was the freshness pad, I had cooked it all day too, I had to throw out my roast.
