    Never manually downshift eh?
Downshifting when entering a bend is the only acceptable way of driving.
    That is my only suggestion.

I prefer shifts that feel more similar to a well shifted manual. This is how my 2017 Fiesta SE is. It's more exciting. CVT and hydraulic clutching systems should be what you buy, when you want the smoothest feeling shifts. I prefer feeling those changes in force on my body, as I go up and down through the gears. I can feel everything, just like a fully manual, and use it to my advantage. .

Uploading on my birthday! I only downshift from 2nd to 1st manually when the I'm almost to a complete stop so the next time I continue driving I don't start from 2nd gear because that adds extra wear? Also, what do you think I should do at a stop light? Keep it in Drive or pull it into neutral? (A4 B8 S Tronic V6 TDI)

In that case, during traffic, should I put in manual mode ? Let’s say gear 1 instead of drive. So if I were to inch forward, I let the gas off or accelerate just a little but since it’s in gear 1 manual mode, the gear is fully engaged and not cause overheat and wear ?

My car has a dual-clutch transmission. Let's say I'm driving, and I suddenly decide to take my foot off the gas pedal. The car goes from 5th gear to 4th, then to 3rd, 2nd, and finally down to 1st gear. Does this put strain on my transmission? I feel that from 5th to 2nd gear, everything is alright, but when it goes from 2nd to 1st, the feeling is a little strange.

Might need to update the video regarding the types of DCTs. Wet VS dry clutches.
Most manufacturers offer some dry clutch transmissions. (Hyundai/Kia actually bakes its own home-made variety and they managed to get them right).
Dry dual clutch transmissions have the same maintenance schedule as manual transmissions - check transmission oil @ 60k, check at 120k, check/replace at 180k.
Wet dual clutch transmissions need somewhat expensive oil changes often since that oil is used for clutch pack cooling and lubrication.
Most low power applications will be dry clutches, as they're both cheaper and more efficient.

I'm one of the FANS of the Ford Fiesta, (Mk7+) with a non-turbo 1.6 DPS6. I do however drive a 2017 SE, not an earlier DPS6 TCM system. It wants to be driven, and frequently worked up and down, consistently, and smoothly through the gears exactly like a manual ....We just need to use a drill motor, and brake cleaner spray, to clear the dust out of the actuator sockets, every 40-50k miles, so the shifter forks always move freely, and quickly. This also extends the life of the actuators, and helps ensure you never bend a fork, or cause severe fork wear, too early on in the life of the fork..

Mokré DSG ale po zařazení musí pohánět mechanické olejové čerpadlo a v oleji se musí protáčet až 2x14 třecích spojkových talířů, které brzdí hřídele s předřazenými 1.-2. stupni. Proto lehce zvýšené otáčky a vibrace.

DSG is not comfortable? Nonsense. The dual clutch shifts gears in less than 10 msec. without torque loss, power loss on the wheels. Its mechatronic uses oil to control the shifting with high precision. It can be reprogrammed for different modes (eco, sport, towing etc.) and that all is why these DSGs are used also in luxury and sport cars. I admit that due to their complexity there can be problems too, obviously.

Even with several early years of a few issues on the DPS6, and a lot of law suits, the DPS6 is still fun...it REALLY IS fun to drive in the twisties. Ford really screwed up, when they didn't teach their new DCT owners how to drive the new-to-Ford DPS6 DCT, that also had a few teething issues which were heavily exacerbated by new owners lack of understanding of the system, and how to operate it correctly, and efficiently, rapidly bringing about several serious dependability problems in a row, to occur at certain milages/or levels of mis-treatment of the systems. A perfect storm, unfortunately.
-Hi, my name is Jay, and I love driving my non-turbo 1.6 2017 Fiesta SE DPS6...even just in Drive.... That low rpm early shift into 2nd, while cruising at 25mph averages from stop to stop, gliding along, smoother than any manual driver you know, is capable of with a clutch and a stick, just sipping fuel, has become a bit addicting...Not quite as addicting as Sport manual, or Sport automatic tho..Where you can feel every gear, just like a 6 speed manual, being shifted well. This lil girl is magical at carving twisties! ...STOCK!

They just need the clutch dust cleared away on a regular basis now, so the forks always move completely freely. Mine has 80k now, and it still functions great....and my engine...it's nearly indestructible... 😄 ...I probably would never buy a pre-2017 SE DCT, unless it was rare, or I knew for certain it's DCT/TCM had been replaced with later units/firmware.

Bafta bro

I hold a Master's degree in engineering with 40 years of relevant work experience, with deep knowledge and understanding of this topic. I have also personally owned two Audis and 1 Golf with DSG. Except for your item #2 (do not inch) and (albeit partly) on manual downshift from 2nd to 1st, you are deeply wrong on everything else. I suggest you invest time in some serious learning if you want to really understand the topic. Wish you all the best.

It's the same for engine oil. Most manufacturers suggest changing it every 30k, while you shouldn't really push beyond 15k km.
