I really feel sorry for what you have endured during your trip to Baglung. However, some of your frustrations look a lil far-fetched and sketchy. The town of Baglung holds no touristic significance for us locals as well. There are few religious sites and the Dhorpatan Hunting Reserve lies in the northern part of the district, but the town and its vicinity itself has nothing much to offer. Its best known as a town that falls en route Mustang. It’s a noble thought to go down the untrodden path but you should also understand that it comes with its own set of surprises and nuisances at times. I wouldn't go to some random town and complain about not getting a good cornetto to say the least. For all the counterfeit items you have come across, there are also genuine ones at the right place. It would be actually problematic if they were selling fake drink in a can labelled 'red bull', but I don't understand why you would be so pissed about some other brand that chose to mimic just the appearance of the can. For an informed and well-travelled consumer like yourself, it should have been a straightforward choice to just avoid purchasing it altogether and look out for other substitutes. A fresh fruit juice in a mountain town would taste good for sure. I understand that the public infrastructure is not at its best currently, there are constructions going all over. But that also means we are upgrading. A road in shambles with nothing happening would be more daunting isn't it? The roads presently are a deterrence for sure, but there is also an option to take a 25 min flight to Pokhara. I don't understand why that was an information not worth giving out. The point I'm trying to make is writing off an entire country based on some isolated events just doesn't make sense. Nepal is not out there on the world tourism map for nothing. I just hope you are more constructive with your criticisms next time when you don't like a place you visit.
We passed through 'tourist' places like pokhara also and baglung is alot nicer, less of a mess. I'm just a normal bloke if I'm in a country and every local product I try is terrible then I'm gonna have a laugh and a moan, most countries we have a quality time in, especially in no name towns full of friendly people and exploration potential. We do not fly domestically, I don't mind taking a 15 hour bus it's no problems we do it all over the world, I'm just pointing out that everywhere we visit in Nepal is basically a building site and isn't nice to look at. We've been here for 3 weeks and met lots of people, visited lots of places and can safely say out of the 50 or so countries we've visited so far it ain't too great. @@EllisWRWell, brother, I clearly understand where your frustration emanates from and that's why I started my comment with a note of apology. However, please be clear that Kathmandu and Pokhara alone do not represent the entire tourism landscape of the country. They are popular because they are the most accessible points in the country and are starting points for two of the most renowned trekking circuits, namely Everest and Annapurna. I understand that likability is a very subjective term and you might not have liked the experiences you encountered during your limited tour. But that doesn't mean our country is entirely rubbish and there is nothing to relish. You might have been to 50 countries or so, but can you tell me how many of them featured Mount Everest? Also, every destination has a season and off season, which you might know from your travelling experience, and at the moment this is an off season for Nepal, meaning that our landscapes aren't exposed at its full glory during these winter months, which is why you couldn't experience the full potential of these landscapes. However, you are free to not like whatever you saw. What I'm trying to say is its not fair to write off an entire destination just because you didn't like certain portions of it. This being said, I fully agree with your views on littering and ongoing constructions. We have a lot to achieve in terms of littering and even I don't empathize with those who openly litter such beautiful places. And yeah, I wish our government expedited constructions on major pathways so that travelers like you would face less hassle during your travels. But I guess, there should be a fair way to view things. You didn't like what you saw, fair enough. But does that mean Nepal in its entirety is not worth it? I don't think so brother.
