I took a Photoshop class two years ago and it wasn't 10% as practical and sensical as this video. Luke Ayers changing my photography life right now. Thanks Luke!
I never comment on videos, but you crack me up. The style is so weird but I like it, it’s different to other peoples standard YouTubing. Great tutorials. I haven’t got bored yet and I’ve watched almost 2 hours worth. The one take is such a talent to!
Hey Luke, I am a VFX artist by profession. I learned a few things about physical lights today and their use ,so thank you ! We do just these same things you did but in CGI ( Ads / Movies ) , just that everything is done digitally using cutting edge software and hardware.I can see how tough its to explain lighting to someone but you did a great job. You remind me of one of my mate, Mark also from Aus .I wish you a best of luck.
Hi! You are the king! Thank you for all your videos and your patience! I'm from Argentina, and i hope one day you can do one about food products in plates/dishes. You are the best! , XXX!!!
Love your tutorials the always teach something new. i had a request for a video, if you could teach how to keep the photos in sync of all products to post on a site so that they don't look different but in some harmony.
Is there an advantage to using the lasso tool versus the select subject option? Thanks so much for these videos - they are so helpful! The lighting video in particular made me feel like I had a really good grasp on what to do.
Great videos! In the spirit of “time is money” isn’t there a better way to take the picture in the first place in which the white background is whiter so all of this cutting, layering, shadow stuff is not really needed? Would an extra flash on the background alone help? All the work undertaken to make the background look white just makes the clear glass of the candle look smoky gray, not clear. If the background was really white, the glass would look clear.
This is true! With enough fiddling around you can get the background almost perfect white and not needing to be cut out. But usually this makes the product itself to bright. That's the issue
The video is about doing this in the home, ie saving costs. Why not use a freeware like Rawtherapee, Darktable, GIMP, Photoscape X, Photopea, etc to edit your photos?
Luke.. If we can adjust lighting and shadows in photoshop.. Whats the use of light box.. Flash... Frame with baking paper or we say butter paper in India..
You can remove the shadow cast by the product in Photoshop, but hard and soft light still looks different on the product itself, so you need to use the diffusers
Thanks so much! Love your tutorials…SO wished I could sign up for your full course, but currency exchange is a biccccch …thanks for using a PC for the photoshop too.
The candle shot: Is there any way to eliminate/correct the "smoked frosted glass" appearance of the clear glass (that still retains the slight opacity of the original darker background) containing the candle?
The number of likes and views on this and most of your other videos is just downright atrocious... and when you compare this to the other trash videos and the amounts they have... goddamn sickening... Lol. Either way... SOOOOOO glad that I was fortunate enough to have stumbled onto your channel. Your personality and the delivery of the expertise you're sharing are just perfect. The value of the content itself is priceless. I'm fairly new to photography, and I am selling my own products. I have found every bit of your content completely pivotal to my growth in photography. And I've learned VOLUMES from just these videos. I'm getting ready for your course now. Lol. Cheers, my guy. I appreciate you!
Have a big soft light on either side (or above and below) at an angle where the painting itself is lit by the lights but not seeing the direct reflection of the light on its surface. Does that make sense at all?
I am using my Samsung 20-S Plus to photography necklaces. Can you take us through how to edit on a white background in PS? They look white in my camera roll but on my laptop, the background is a too dark. I struggle with getting a white background especially around the chain Ugh! Please help :) thank you
Great video. Personally though the grey tint of the glass is annoying me. Buying this you wouldn't really expect it to be seethrough or you would be in doubt at least. Might just be me : D haha.
"Little plug hole in you computer" = USB port Love your videos, but whenever you make statements like this, I always think to myself, "I want whatever this guy is smoking!"
Photoshop $10/month subscription only. Hopelessly complex. 600 page 'how-to' books. 1 year classes. Try Corel Paintshop Pro ($59 right now) or Adobe Elements ($99). One-time purchase and they all do 'layers'. More than enough. To cutout, shoot against $2 postboard chromakey blue/green background and then any auto-select 'one-click' tool. Layers way too advanced for most folks IMO. But I like your tutorials.

The good thing about your videos bro is that it feels like your best friend sitting beside you and telling a story.. thank you man
That’s awesome to hear. Thank you
These are the best photoshop videos I've ever seen on TH-cam. Very helpful

After I saw the blur, I was like "oh shoot, that's awesome!"
This video reminds me of my college days. Good job professor!
Please post some videos on how to shoot find jewelry.

Good idea! Thank you

Fabulous, I'm glad. Feel free to try lasso, but if you're using a mouse and not a stylus/pen tool then it can be tricky
Been cutting out pictures for about a year now and never thought of adding a shadow in like that haha great idea, gets rid of the weird flatness
Awesome, bro!
Hi Luke, can you teach me after get the pictures done, how to set up the quality of the photos to export for multi-media use?
Yes, I will post a video about this soon

AWESOME! Thanks sooo much!
Thank you, this is very helpful stuff!
You're most welcome
Nice work man ♥️🔥 following you from Egypt ✌️
Thanks bro!

Really nice. Love it! Great Job!
Thank you for the invalueable videos.
Thank you mate!
Make a video how to do setting and shoot with Samsung phone please 📱

hahaha bro you are amazing..we need more videos..keep it like that..excellent..
Thanks dude
I actually needed this thank you Luke u just made the photoshop a little easier for me. if I needed to ask you anything can I?

"It's just a fluffy circle"
Thanks so much! Love your tutorials…SO wished I could sign up for your full course, but currency exchange is a biccccch …thanks for using a PC for the photoshop too.
Awesome. You're very welcome. And if you want a special discount then email me
Thank you, Luke.
You're welcome
The candle shot: Is there any way to eliminate/correct the "smoked frosted glass" appearance of the clear glass (that still retains the slight opacity of the original darker background) containing the candle?
The simplest way to handle this is to use photoshop and brighten up the glass using the brightness and contrast settings.

That's so awesome! Thank you, man I really appreciate that!
thanks for the great video. why do you use the polygonal lasso vs the magnetic lasso?
You can use both but i find the polygonal works better for me
Hey Luke, I like the videos, very informative.
What is the best way to shoot Picture artwork, picture frames etc...?
Have a big soft light on either side (or above and below) at an angle where the painting itself is lit by the lights but not seeing the direct reflection of the light on its surface. Does that make sense at all?
@@LukeAyers Yes, Thanks Luke
Thank you for the fab tutorials. So helpful!
P.s. I need some of whatever this guys on :P
You're welcome. And I'm on life
Would it also be possible to use one of those fancy pancy graphics tablets with stylus, I mean to chop off the background?
Of course! Those will make it easier yes
Amazing "Professor" / Luke! Does Lightroom allow you to make these exact same edits as well?
Lightroom can do most but not cutting out images
just do Select > Subject to cut your object out in a 5 seconds
Luke, Just discovered your channel. Question: What is the wireless flash set up you are using? Or can you recommend something?
Awesome! I'm using the YN 560III flash with the YN flash trigger. Search for them. Yongnuo is the company that makes them. Very inexpensive
@@LukeAyers Thank you!
Briliant 🙏🙏🙏
thanks so much for your video....what happens if the camera one has cannot accommodate an external flash
That's a good question. If you cannot use a flash then you will need to use just a very powerful normal light which is white coloured
@@LukeAyers thanks a ton
Is it ok to think the natural photo of the candle (with one flash) look better than the photoshopped file?
It's all personal preference in the end
I am using my Samsung 20-S Plus to photography necklaces. Can you take us through how to edit on a white background in PS? They look white in my camera roll but on my laptop, the background is a too dark. I struggle with getting a white background especially around the chain Ugh! Please help :) thank you
I getcha. This can be done in a later video, yes
@@LukeAyers Would love to see this too.
Why do you need to shoot on white background and then you cut it out anywaay???
You don't HAVE to. But for places like Amazon they require the background to be perfectly white
Great video. Personally though the grey tint of the glass is annoying me. Buying this you wouldn't really expect it to be seethrough or you would be in doubt at least. Might just be me : D haha.
Correct

Luke, pretty a good job frankly, but this video could have been like 5 minutes total. Love your channel tho🤘🏻❤️
