    Very doable recipe, I have coconuts and limes in my yard, and wing beans available from Filipino farmers at open market. All other ingredients already in my pantry. You are an inspiration Pai! Mahalo!

    just a tip for people who are new at using wing beans, my mom thought me to remove the stringy part at the side of the wing beans ( pull the tip from the top or bottom and the stringy part can now easily be removed) im not sure if its different, but here in the philippines thats what we do, since the string can be very very chewy and can ruin the dish.

      goes with most beans that are raw Nirvanna, also called string beans here in Canada.

    Hi from Bangkok. I love this dish! But instead of making it myself I order it at my local restaurant and within ten minutes it's there to eat!

    In the Philippines we call it "Sigarilyas" in our language , that's also good sauteed in coconut milk and with dried fish and spicy red chili Ang sprinkle with toasted garlic to garnish 🤤🤤🤤

    I like that dressing. I think I’ll put cold noodles in it. I think the wing beans are beautiful .

    This dish is great! A bit of work to pull all the components together, one tweak I'd strongly recommend is adding 2 tablespoons of sour Tamarind juice. Also worth noting this dish is very delicious (a refreshing variation) with the Nam Prik Pao left out, so don't fret if you don't have any.

    I can't find winged beans, but I have some big hyacinth bean pods growing on the fence, so I'll try those--after a three-minute blanch in boiling water.

    Is there a good replacement for that hot sauce if one is allergic to shrimp? :(
    I has resigned myself to never eating Thai food b/c I'm always rolling a dice as to whether the restaurant makes their base stock with shrimp. I LOVE LOVE LOVE your videos b/c you show us how to make most of these sauces from scratch so I can omit the shrimp.

    • @Doughnutthanwarin
      @Doughnutthanwarin 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As i'm thai. Ive never seen shrimp stock in Thailand or maybe it does, but I think its not very common, nor fish stock is. Mostly pork, chicken, beef.

      @mtgsk5180 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      DoughnutBuranasaksin agreed! my vegetarian friends keep saying they csnt eat thai food because they use fish stock...and I keep asking them if they mean fish sauce because fish/shrimp stock isnt common in Thailand. and yes Im thai as well

    How did you boil the 8-minute egg? Wait till the water is boiling. And put the egg in and boil for 8 mins?

    Is this more of a pasta or potato type salad that would improve with a day in the refrigerator or like a tossed green salad that should be eaten soon after preparation? The protein would probably taste better after absorbing the dressing a bit, would the beans get soggy?

    • @PailinsKitchen
      @PailinsKitchen  10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Terrence Nicholson I've had this the next day and it was yummy. It won't look as good though...as the beans will have wilted slightly on the edges, but they will still be crunchy.

      Terrence Nguyen what does it smell like??

    • @CosmosPeony
      @CosmosPeony 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think there's a word for that in Eng. In Việt Nam, we call it "fishy" but that's not the correct word to describe it since it's not a living aquatic animal. But it smells weird to me, texture is fine but no for the smell.
