ZRS hasn't solved the core problem of the categories being far too wide. It's still effectively 4 categories (E starts at 0 so I have a hard time considering it a category). So, there are still going to be the same problems as before "too good for one category, but getting blown out the back of another". More categories with tighter ranges is the solution IMO.
I've said it before, I'll say it again... I'm here for the thumbnail, stayed for the action. Nice race Erik. I wish someone would call me a sandbagger. Might get my wife to join a race just to comment this. 🙏😜 No ones getting threatened by my 2.6wkg avg. 😅
Not actually sure how you can seriously be accused of sandbagging... your videos are completely candid and transparent. ZRS is what has you bouncing in and out of A at the moment.
@@DontGetDroppedCycling The one guy in this race was really complaining, not about you, but mainly the winner. Not that the winner was legit, but some people have just no idea how strong some people legitimately are. They seem to think everybody in the A cat are the same or close. Yeah right! It's the group with the most disparity.
Watch an outdoor video and compare ;) He races at 135bpm avg indoors while his heart rate is 170bpm outdoors with the same avg powers. His core trainer gives him 7 to 10% Free watts. Now I don’t say he does it on purpose but I’ve tested enough core’s to know that often there’s a “too” big tolerance. If E tries a V6 or Neo 2 that would be an eye opener.
@@DontGetDroppedCyclingno I didn’t but that doesn’t make any difference on your trainer reading high (although I believe you when you say you do all necessary things). As you have a powermeter outside, why have you never done a dual to compare ? And like said before I’m not judging, it’s just a fact (just like the other 70% on zwift).
@@DontGetDroppedCycling I guess that is a benefit of ZRS. You'd only be stuck in A for a little while until your score comes back down once the calibration gets sorted unlike the old system where you'd be there for 90 days. Ironically, his massive effort this race would not have increased his score enough to get promoted. It was his second race of that day with the dodgy power readings that moved him up.
I'm always looking for a race first when I get on Zwift! Honestly instead of telling myself I "don't have legs" I just race and say "SHUT THE F UP LEGS!"
Conceptually agree, but if 520-680 were split in two, those races would both be small. I think part of the challenge for Zwift is balancing skill level and populating races so they’re fun.

You're living my life at the moment by bouncing between two categories. I think Zwift needs to tweak the categories to stop that from happening. Not sure how they do that. But Maybe they should copy the the way that Tiny Races do it.
@@TheITNerd Gotcha. I knew A was down to 680 as opposed to normally 690. Do you think it makes that much of a difference? For sure if you are in that small window of difference, I guess. Those races are just full gas since they are so short. A lot more people can go full HAM for 5 minutes than can for 30 minutes to an hour. I mean some people can just turn themselves inside out. I struggle somewhat with that since no IRL bike race that I normally do is short like that. It's great training but really humbling!

Not sure how this score system works, but the discrete categories do not make sense to me with a continuous score. At least, there has to be a system that randomly assigns you to B or A races with a certain probability based on your score. Basically similar to an actual ELO system. As you improve, you will be assigned less and less often to B and more to A, making the transition between categories smoother.
Your in-race commentary is goated...In response to a sandbagger comment ,"I did an A race yesterday it told me to come back."
I'm just doing what Zwift is telling meeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Wow that was a short excursion back to B cat!
Don't worry the yo-yo continues tomorrow!

classic 60+ year old 5+wkg making the whole race unnecessarily hard
Par for the course!
Bouncy bouncy between the cats E 😁 If only you'd finished 14th 🤣
The only thing Zwift is good at is knowing you threw the sprint and only docking you 1 Zwift Racing Point 🤪
That dude had a good power meter day!
I wouldn’t mind a borrow 😅

If I got stuck in A for 90 day's I'd be opening up a new account!!!

This ride was way harder than your last A cat video! And your HR was lower. The struggle in A was all mental. You’ve got this 💪🏻
The surges in A are much more painful. A Cat attacks are vicious where B Cat attacks are less punchy and manageable.

ZRS makes absolutely no sense at all. It's pretty disappointing from zwift.
Yah I just got bumped up to 702 with their new ZRS update... wonderful!
