    Hi
    Richard
    Your videos are so much informative.I understand the effort you put into it to make the leaners to grasp it clear. I passed my test 3 months ago but still I watch your videos to learn something new and to be a safe driver.
    Thank you so much for explaining how to use the guided lines on the reverse camera.

    I wish these cameras would be more commonplace, it'd save me a lot of stress and learning. I find parking to be the hardest part of handling a car since I'm very bad at judging small distances.

      It's a useful tool, but for some parks, (such as getting the car onto my drive at home) I actually find it more effective to use the mirrors. I would say best practise is knowing how to use the camera, but never to rely on it

    9:18 “Drive - Incubus” made me laugh out loud. Keep living & breathing driving. Your passion for it (and succinct way you teach) has not only made driving more accessible/knowledge-equipped, you’ve made driving genuinely fun.
    As someone who didn’t get properly into driving until mid-20’s, I’m glad that when I finally did, it was to stumbling on your lessons early. Even having passed my test a year ago, I still watch your videos regularly. Thanks for helping me shape best habits from the start to become a better driver today. 🎉

    Good evening Richard just watch your video. About reverse parking by using a fixed camera. I have a review reversing camera. Which i never use as i was taught to use my wing mirrors way back in 1983. Also on my driving lessons i was taught how to do a 3 point turn and reversing around a corner.

    Wishlist from your channel: I suggest you make one video teaching how to deal with emergency vehicles (e.g. police patrols, ambulances, fire engines) with their flashing sirens and alarms on, in a driving exam with failing the exam. I read there are so many examinees failed their test just because these vehicles with sirens rushing towards or from behind. One even failed just because giving way to an ambulance plus a police vehicle but went out of the roundabout giveway line, so his examiner failed him. That could make so many learners feel either nervous or anxious since they won't face too many times in their real practices and very hard to build up such experiences. You can't make it happen by your own, you just can wait by luck or bad luck. So better teach them a little detailed, and make the rules and laws clear and avoiding from failing test by sirens.

      I thought I had failed my test because I heard a fire engine and the examiner noticed me looking for it and told me where it was. In my feedback the examiner told me he was just helping out and everything was fine so I passed.

    • @fus149hammer5
      @fus149hammer5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would have thought that as you are a non qualified learner driver and the examiner is legally in charge of the vehicle he or she should take over responsibility and instruct you about what to do in this event or else if an emergency vehicle approaches you during your test you are guaranteed to fail.

      @@adrianridgway4333 I remember my mock test, the instructor took the wheel before I had time to react.
      He told med that he saw a good space to pull over, and didn't want to wait to put me to the test, because it was more important to give way for the emergency vehicle.

    Great video.
    Another good video would be parralel parking in a narrow road where you have cars on either side. Personally i find full lock makes the car swing out way too much, and better to use a one full turn to get into a spot.

    • @Agu_Ra
      @Agu_Ra ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, that largely depends on your car's turning circle. On some (like Ford Focus Mk3 ST with notoriously bad turning radius, omg is that car hard to park in tight spaces) you have to use full lock to parallel park, on some (like old C-Class Mercedes with very impressive turning circle, that bastard can turn on a dime) full lock is often way too much.

    • @krazyb1234
      @krazyb1234 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Agu_Ra yeah fair point. I think a lot of what learners drive should hopefully not be as bad the focus st.

    I wish the instructors were as informative with all your tips as you on lining up cars etc. when I was learning to drive (PS everyone these tips stay with you for life) Didnt get that in the day only on the parallel parking, nothing on how to judge how near your front is to curb or which way to turn the wheel for the direction you wanted -hence these videos are an eye opener as I am STILL a terrible parker . Now I have a camera I know what lines to looks at - 🖕🖕🖕

    Its weird.
    My first car i bought was a beaten, riced out 206 with tinted windows in the back and no driver assists whatsoever. mechanical mirrors and you could barely see anything what was going on behind you, especially in the dark. The 5 speed manual, the 1.4l engine, open front diff with no TC/ESC and the solid rear axle with absolutly no weight on it whatsoever combined with worn tires. just looking at the handbrake during winter would make you do a 180.
    i loved it so much, it made me a proper driver. I could wedge this thing through any gap when there was just a hairs width of extra space and park anywhere completely blind. I know the gears so precisely i could basically shift without the clutch.
    I drove it for 6 years until last month and now i finally got myself my first "modern" Car. A beautiful 2016 rs3. And i actively have to remind myself that i actually have stuff like a reverse camera or parking sensors now but i will always rely on my gut feeling of where the car is, even if its so much wider
    I mean driving long distance for example is so much more relaxed but this tiptronic can never match the feeling of control a manual gives you. greetings from Germany

    while what you teach here is right for using the reversing cameras, if you got the static lines on screen, and compare the furthest lines with the parking space lines and the nearest lines, you can actually reverse in a near enough straight line rather than snaking the car into a parking spot, plus you won't need to input as much steering once lined up correctly. as you put 1/4 of a turn in all the time in this video by not looking at the bigger picture, it does take time and practice, but once you mastered that, the cars with the steering input moving lines are simple.

    I was gonna get a reverse camera fit to my car from Halfords, but put it off just due to expenses but since then I've gotten more confident at reverse parking, in fact, I prefer it to front parking, I actually find it easier - would you still recommend a camera at this point?

    • @ConquerDriving
      @ConquerDriving  ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Reverse parking is physically easier for the car due to how it steers and the mirrors help you see where you're going. Given the option I will have a reverse camera as it makes it safer and easier.

    Curious, the way that it's done here seems a bit fiddly, with many small corrections while parking. The way I do it myself is essentially going for a "good enough" first attempt where I just need to be within the lines, and if I don't happen to be exactly in the middle, I do a correction by driving a little bit forward, before going back again.
    End result is the same, and to me personally it's easier because I don't have to worry too much about getting it perfect on the first try, which allows me to better observe what's happening around me.
    Would my technique be acceptable on a driving test as well, or would that be a potential issue?

      As long as you're safe, have good observations, good control of the car and finish the manoeuvre then you should pass.

    Hi, just wanted to let you know, I did pass my manual license test and your videos helped me greatly! I also bought a Skyline R34! It also happens to have a backup camera so this video helped me out as well. Thanks a lot!

    Very helpful video thank you!! Some suggestions for an upcoming video would be 1. To do one covering parking situations that you tend to encounter as a driver regularly but that wouldn't feature on the driving test (such as bay parking and parallel parking when there are cars already parked either side of the bay or cars in front and behind you when parallel parking) and 2. A short video about filling up your car with petrol or diesel and plugging an electric car in to charge ie. what you have to do at a service station that you wouldn't be taught by your instructor.
    Edit: from reading some of the comments I see others asking for similar videos which you have already acknowledged

      Try to put your right foot in a position where you can pivot from one pedal to the other without taking your heel off the ground. This doesn't work for everyone but it helps most people, it depends on the size of your feet and the driving position in relation to the pedals.
