I agree with you! Canberra is still tranquil place, a wonderfull city to live and enjoy! Just today I finished a study about the city, entitled: A history of Canberra, a 293 pages study about the development of Canberra! Did you know that Canberra with its 2358 sq km administrative area one of the biggest city on earth? Even bigger than Tokyo, London, Mexico City or Sao Paulo for that matter. And in this vast area only around 400,000 people live! So there is enough space for future development, and one day the city will have between 1.5 to even 2 million people by the year of 2100.
@@smithygog7775 yeah I'm aware of the landmass of Canberra versus the population although those of London and Tokyo are for the core city and not the metropolitan area. Nonetheless, Australian cities are generally well spaced out like Canadian and US cities based on their town planning system. I honestly love very low density but feature packed cities and I find Canberra to be one of my personal favourite best cities on earth as there's so much green spaces, spacious roads and low rise buildings. I went to Canberra when I was in year 7 in 2014. I had a great time, and we even went in snow though I'm not sure where we went to see snow. I wouldent mind going again I think it's an underrated city. The main reason I want to go again is because of the nature reserves and Namadgi national park.
just cme back from Canberra. the reason I came here because I want to Thredbo snowy mountain. take bus 3 hours for 75$ return. next dy went to hop on off bus explore visit parlianment house. museum war.the mint etc. next day explore city and go to mount ainsle. 3 days enough because winter freezing
the question shouldn't be "why would you go to Australia?" but rather "why would you want travel anywhere else other than Australia?....maybe apart from New Zealand 😁" Seriously though, it's not as dangerous a place as people make out, it's just that a lot of it is very minimally populated (large regions where it's unsustainable to have cities of people) but as a result those parts are particularly jam packed full of spectacular natural vistas. I'm lucky to have a reserve on my side doorstep (that ironically 'snakes' under 2 intersecting freeways) and while I'm sure there are snakes there I haven't yet seen any and as long as I walk carefully (by making a bit of noise while walking in any long grass) I may not actually see any there for years to come. Most snakes don't tend to inhabit the water, and those that do are in tropical climates (in places such Darwin or in the state of Queensland). I have seen Kangaroos there, albeit only on a few occassions and only 2 pairs of them. Also, the vast majority of spiders in Australia aren't really dangerous to humans (including most of the large ones). And for anyone who hasn't actually seen an Australian possum in Australia I'm happy to say that they look incredibly different from their American relatives (particularly Australian ringtail possums, that making light twittering voice and who look adorable, and even the brushtail possums (that at times exchange threatening sounding noises towards each other) are amazing looking and acting creatures). I do however completely understand why many New Zealanders don't like them, but that's because they were an introduced species to New Zealand and as such along with rats and stoats have sadly had as big an impact on New Zealand's native fauna and general local ecosystem in general as the impact that rats, cats, feral foxes and cane toads have had on Australia's native ecosystem (albeit via varying ways). I spent my early years growing up in the bush and I never once got bitten by a spider or in fact stung by anything, but within a month of moving down to the suburbs I got stung by a bee and then by a wasp (both being species that were introduced to Australia and are not native). Something that Australia has which relatively few other countries have is a large variety of natural wonders, both on land and in the water, and also a range of very different climates in different parts of the country. But as amazing as the natural landscape is the amount of deforestation and increased suburban sprawl I the major cities over the past 5 decades has been immense, and only become faster with the turn of the 21st century. Our reefs are quickly changing (most of which is irrevocable) and most people (including most farmers) agree that more needs to be done to decrease the amount of chemical 'run-off' that exists in some major river systems (including some that feed out onto sections of the Great Barrier Reef) and to minimise currently rising sea temperatures. Such places will forever remain amazing, but we do need to do what we can to ensure that they and countless other natural environments the world over are protected by us as much as is possible.
Canberra is a boring place for young people but for people who are more than 50 years old and seek tranquility, peace and beautiful landscapes it is ideal..additionally for those who like to ski, the snow is near ..
is Canberra any interesting? I mean everytime I look for Australian cities they just show Melbourne, Adelaide, Sydney, Perth. But I never have seen Canberra at all.
It may sound rude but seems like there is nothing to do in Canberra. When choosing a city to study in Australia, Canberra is the least preferred option, I think.
If anyone is wondering. Telstra tower is closed, smashed up by vandels and graffiti. You can't visit Parliament house. Burley Griffin is toxic water. The decriminalisation of drugs have left needles scattered across the region. Deep space centre is closed and the rest of everything else mentioned in this video you can see in under a week and this video definitely hyped it up and you'll be paying a lot for the hospitality and accommodation. The only thing worth it is the dinosaur museum and bird aviary at gold creek. PS: don't swim in the rivers cause they are also toxic and lots of people I've met have gotten sick from swimming in there. There's also a nude beach where mostly guys go to do heavy drugs with other guys and do some not so wholesome activities. This place is located conveniently right across from a youth centre. Have fun and enjoy your stay at Canberra! 😊
So the reason why Canberra was formed is because there were arguments on whether Sydney or Melbourne should be the capital so Sydney was like “I’m the capital city!” but Melbourne is like “NO! I’m the capital city” and the two were berating and arguing each other and to settle this dispute to make both these cities stop arguing they form the city Canberra and have it become the capital city of Australia.
It is a beautiful city but I agree, it can be a bit boring. We don't get big ticket concerts and we don't get large sporting events. But Sydney isn't far if you want that kind of thing. If you love the eating scene we have the most restaurants per capita in Australia. It's a great place to raise children with quality schools and if you love shopping we have plenty of shopping malls. I love the place but the cold weather can be annoying.

Christine Merrifield, when I was growing up there I went to the War Memorial five or six times a year.
"And then head up to the lawn covered roof for sweeping views". They blocked off that part of Parliament House a few years ago. No more running up the grass anymore.
Yes I think they were worried about terrorists and demonstrators
The capital looks epitome of planning and highly organised

As someone who never wanted to move to canberra after living in other Australian capital cities - I have to say now you will never get me to leave the Australian Capital Territory, this city objectively is a beautiful place to live, I tried to look for reasons to hate it but it sucked me in!
Used to live in queanbeyan which is a 1 hour drive from Canberra, must say canberra is a beautiful city

I went to Canberra when I was in year 7 in 2014. I had a great time, and we even went in snow though I'm not sure where we went to see snow. I wouldent mind going again I think it's an underrated city. The main reason I want to go again is because of the nature reserves and Namadgi national park.
Hey I just went yesterday I’m in Year 6.
Canberra ACT is a national park masquerading as a city! It was a great place to grow up in.

the question shouldn't be "why would you go to Australia?" but rather "why would you want travel anywhere else other than Australia?....maybe apart from New Zealand 😁"
Seriously though, it's not as dangerous a place as people make out, it's just that a lot of it is very minimally populated (large regions where it's unsustainable to have cities of people) but as a result those parts are particularly jam packed full of spectacular natural vistas.
Such places will forever remain amazing, but we do need to do what we can to ensure that they and countless other natural environments the world over are protected by us as much as is possible.
can you please do some video about city of france please
Currently living in Canberra. Haven't been to Questacon in aaaaaages!
Canberra is a boring place for young people but for people who are more than 50 years old and seek tranquility, peace and beautiful landscapes it is ideal..additionally for those who like to ski, the snow is near ..

So glad you had a great time in Canberra - it's a beautiful city! Did you get to the War Memorial and Questacon? They are two of my favorites.

It's a fantastic city to raise kids in. So many great bike paths, free activities and great parks
Is it very difficult to switch from right hand driving to left hand driving if you are visiting Australia for a month?
No different to switching the other way when we visit countries that drive right side. 🤷🏼♀️
Stay safe flight my old friend
Yeah I'm so exited I'm going the in july
is Canberra any interesting? I mean everytime I look for Australian cities they just show Melbourne, Adelaide, Sydney, Perth. But I never have seen Canberra at all.
It may sound rude but seems like there is nothing to do in Canberra. When choosing a city to study in Australia, Canberra is the least preferred option, I think.
Trust me it's boring I live there
connor lee fucking oath its shit as
PP G it's boring, I just pass the time at the airport
B M u should go on bush walks and explore the museums
Probably being in jail is more fun than here
I'm dreaming to become a Canberran someday!🙏🙏🙏
I'm from Melbourne but I love canberra
Lovely place!
I love Canberra.
so beautiful
Incredible! :)
MARVELOUS
Its more like 2 hours from the coast and the mountains
It is a beautiful city but I agree, it can be a bit boring. We don't get big ticket concerts and we don't get large sporting events. But Sydney isn't far if you want that kind of thing. If you love the eating scene we have the most restaurants per capita in Australia. It's a great place to raise children with quality schools and if you love shopping we have plenty of shopping malls. I love the place but the cold weather can be annoying.
