My issue was. 2.5 second delay in audio on the TV but no delay on the headphones. I tried everything, what fixed it for me was changing audio on the TV from surround to standard, then changing it back and it fixed it for me.
I got a new TV my sound kept cutting out every few seconds while watching blu-rays, DVDs and playing online games. I simply switched the "Audio Option to "Dolby" which is what my new TV primarily uses. It immediately fixed the problem.
I just found another solution thought I should share here 1 go to xmb bar the one you push the PS button on home screen, i think in game works also, go to sound looks like a speaker, scroll down to bottom and the last 2 options one for game audio and one for media audio make sure they are turned up
Somehow the sound I get from my ps4 sounds better than my ps5. Sound from the ps5 sounds kind of hollow and overall lesser quality. This goes for both games and music. I've tried turning 3D audio off but didn't seem different at all. I even tested it using the same dualshock 4 controller and philips SHP 9500 headphones for both consoles. Settings are Linear PCM and Headphones. It's frustrating me. UPDATE: tried toggling the 3D audio again. It's better turn off. Like, WAAAY better. I still prefer the sound quality from the ps4, but this is not to say the sound from the ps5 is anymore worse now. Now is just a difference in some tuning.
Was going to say, check that 3D toggle.. Using a headset with games that arent made for the 3D audio sound terrible and muffled. Destiny2 for example... when i bought the pulse headset, i was confused why it was so bad. Found out that you shouldnt use that setting for all games. Sony need to put a symbol on games so we know what is fully compatible.
@mohammed avtarhanov just turn off the 3D audio in the settings > sound > audio output, then toggle 3d audio to disable. Have it turned off for all ps4 games. And turn it on for compatible ps5 games.
Sony need to fix this issue, I have a good ear for audio, and the PS5 sound is definitely inferior to PS4. Turning off the 3D audio doesn't seem to solve the issue either. It may help slightly on some games, but overall the sound quality is still bad. Also, some headsets that work on PS4 don't work on PS5 oddly....my Corsair H1500 for example.

@@simonefranchini103 So from what I could gather it was the right speaker on my TV. It just wasn't very good(It was good for the first few months). I tested this issue out on all my available consoles and it wasn't just the PS5. The only way I could avoid it was if a game had mono as an audio option. In the end I purchased a soundbar and that fixed the issue for me.

With my issue I had to literally unplug my entire tv. Give it a minute then plug it back in. So far that fixed the audio issue. I put the ps5 in rest switched aux inputs. Everything. Then tried that and it worked.
If you can’t hear your voice or others voices on your clips here’s the fix- press the share button and click on the option on the far right then enable both buttons 👍
I reinstalled rdr2 onto my ps5, and with a lot of story heavy games, I plug in my headphones so I can not only hear the main characters but characters in the background. But ever since then, every time I play without the headphones, the audio has been stuck in the same muffled audio that the headphones do
My PS5 is updated as far as system update, but my audio output priority settings do not give me options for bitstream. Only Linear PCM, DTS, or DOLBY. Please help any suggestions?

Also something I accidentally did was I had a plugged in mic and held the mute button on accident, it completely muted all sound for my ps5 maybe try holding the mute button again

Dam i was hoping to find a solution to why I can barely hear anyone through my ps5 dualsense controller speaker in game chat. But if it sounds from the actual game set to come through the speaker it sounds fine.
My audio cuts out randomly for 1-2 seconds. I also get the occasional ghosting image for characters on screen. PS5 is plugged in via original HDMI cable to my Samsung KS8000 which then has optical audio to my Yamaha RX-A740 with 5.1 surround. I tried switching from HDMI port 1 to port 2 on the TV, buying a new HDMI 2.1 cable, switching from optical audio to HDMI using ARC on the receiver, did a factory reset on the TV, cleared the cache and rebuilt the database on the PS5, toggled many PS5 settings like HDCP on/off, 120hz on/off, 4k transfer rate -1/-2, and nothing seems to work. It only started happening a couple months ago which leads me to think it's a PS5 software issue, but I can't find anyone else reporting it. I'm considering a new TV but would hate to burn the cash if it turns out to be the PS5. Anyone else experiencing this?

My wireless headset which requires a usb connection stick in order for it to work is not plugged in and my headset is turned off, I usually don't use it anymore but now during gameplay my headset somehow connects and switches my console tv audio setting to my stupid headset for the output sound and it wont stop connecting ?
I just had this problem and I fixed it. if you mean that you can hear yourself through the mic by “echoing” then turn off “monitor” on the side of the headset where you adjust the sound and mute

I managed to fix it by fixing the audio output settings to anything other than the default. Dolby or linear fixed it for me

Linear pcm is when the ps5 decodes. Bitstream is used when the receiver does the decoding.

My headset plays sound just not all the sounds like when I shoot, hit or someone talks to me I bearly hear it but all the other stuff is fine

Hi, my PS5 has good sound from the TV, and the games are good as well, and the button tone is good Etc. The only problem is when I go on my playstation store and play the game trailers there is no sound from the trailers it's silence, and I don't know why or how to get it back do you have any advice that you can give please???
