There was a page on tv tropes I stumbled on once of a Hercules comic that had him take on a young boy as a sidekick. It focused on comedy. Apparently the whole setup was an executive's idea and it worked out. Unfortunately I can't find the page now, but they explicitly pointed it out. This is why I turned to the comics. There's been 6 "seasons" ( volumes ) of Batman Beyond throughout the years. Even recently theres still some being made. They pickup on storylines from the show and even from Justice Leage and continue to expand on them. Very cool!

I remember watching the show when I was only 4 or 5, it was awesome. They should at least make a last season to end it properly as they did for Samurai Jack.
From what I had read, WB was trying to put a lot of focus on Justice League and were using some of the same writers. It was too much work to do both shows, so they cancelled Batman Beyond to concentrate on Justice League.
Except for one thing before Batman Beyond was actually finished in 2006 they decided to do one last episode of the Batman Beyond called in this episode but this time it was not a serious it was a Justice League Unlimited because I guess they're running out episodes they got to wrap up the season of with the Big Bang finale they thought this was perfect idea to end of not Justice League Unlimited but the Batman Beyond as well so origin how it all started became a Batman Beyond like how he has a son and that's why it all started it makes sense so at least we got answers during the season finale of the Justice League Unlimited that's why
Though we'll all admit that we should've at least seen more "Justice League Beyond" action and some character arcs like Dana's and the McGinnis family's, at least it wasn't ended with a The Zeta Project/The Spectacular Spider-Man kind of cliffhanger, for the show thankfully wrapped up a bunch of long running loose ends that would have given us headaches for a long, long time. And besides, there's the "true" series finale of both BB and Justice League Unlimited in the form of "Epilogue". #KeepEpilogueASecret Edit: In the meantime, if one doesn't want the BB saga to end anticlimactically either on "Unmasked" (the airdate series finale) or "Countdown" (production order finale, and also a Zeta Project crossover that admittedly feels more like a sequel ep to "Zeta", fittingly so), then I'll recommend ending it on the Return of the Joker film, preferably the Uncut release.
if this is the case, the old WB execs would be rolling in their grave if they saw the original content streaming companies output (Game Of Thrones, Killing Eve, etc.)...lol Batman Beyond was relatively tame.
I saw something that said that a big reason why the show was canceled was because the creators were assigned to work on the Justice League show and thus couldn't focus their attention on both.
Thankfully, with modern day, technology, introducing streaming instead of cable, we could possibly reboot Batman beyond now into an adult program, not to mention, we can easily explain that this came from another universe to where Batman had didn’t have Damien, no hard feelings towards Damien,
It really wasn't a bad show. I'm a Batman nerd and more into the original. But Batman Beyond had a great style and story. I found it to be darker and intended for an older audience. Which I really wish we could see more of today.
I honestly liked the themes in it. Several characters basically suffered fates worse than death. Blight, Inque, *THE EARTH MOVER* was probably the worst if you ask me. Poor guy lost his humanity, he thought his business partner betrayed him, he never got to see his daughter himself. His business partner was even willing to answer for what he did despite not knowing he was still alive. The way Mr. Freeze decided to go out was a real tearjerker regardless of how many times you watch it. It only hits harder as an adult.
The funny thing is Batman Beyond was also created from executive meddling. WB Execs pitched “Make Batman a kid so children can relate!”, and this wound up being the result
Denis Villeneuve is the obvious choice, but honestly for the most freshest and biggest appeal take I think we can get with a Director… is Chad Stahelski The action, the style the pure visual experience I think we would get from a Batman Beyond film made by him would be amazing
They needed better villains after you get past the novelty of it being set in the future you need solid villains like BTAS had. Most of Terry's opponents were screwed up teenagers and a couple of ligit villains like Blight and a cameo from Mr. Freeze.
I have yet to actually sit down and watch this. I nephews used to have DVDs of this and they would watch it and I only ever glimpsed a few episodes. I need to watch this.
I guess I'm a bit older, because I grew up with the original Animated Series and it's always going to beat out Beyond for me, but I can see why it was so popular. Still, hard to beat with all the episodes and darker tone that was allowed back then. It was the first kids show to depict regular criminals trying to kill the hero with guns and actually shooting them. Hell, it happens in the intro lol (except they don't get a chance to shoot) *PLUS, we got Mask of the Phantasm. Loved that movie, actually showed that Bruce desperately wants a normal life, to the point he begs forgiveness at his parent's graves just for not wanting to be Batman.
I remember my introduction into DC with the early 2000's Justice league series making me love superheroes, my older brother introduced me to Batman Beyond with the return of the joker movie. I watched the show years later and loved it, I hate when great shows like these get cut short when shit is starting to ramp up at that point. i have always said a batman beyond videogame would be badass during the day you play as terry mcginnis in school dealing with nash and other things a kid does during night you are batman as bruce wayne has passed it is up to you to become a better batman and perhaps allow your younger brother matt in as robin as was done in the comics
Honestly I could see why the show got cancelled. The show was cool but nothing happens except defeating a weekly villain. Hardly any character development and lacked an overarching story. Except season 1 but after that nothing.
I user to watch it after school and thought it was super cool. The colors, the voice acting, the words I didn't understand. My parents didn't have a problem with the contents of the show either
Around the time Beyond was ending, the team was trying to pitch a Justice League cartoon with many compromises to satisfy KidsWB's annoying "child appropriate" demands. When Cartoon Network offered to host the show with little to no interference they immediately switched studios and made the greatest JL adaptation there will ever be.
Out of all the Batman series that I have watched Batman beyond was truly the best one and it always will be. I did hear that they are planning to make a Batman beyond movie
Batman Beyond will eventually happen with Michael Keaton. I think after Matt Reeve’s Batman will be the perfect time. Keaton will be a little older which fits the character of old Bruce.
That ratings excuse was absolutely bs. It was literally the first animated television series to win a daytime Emmy DURING IT'S RUN. There were others that had won before but only during syndication after their initial run and there have obviously been others that won since (both in syndication and during their initial runs) but this show was incredibly amazing and the numbers definitely supported that. The real problem that got it cancelled was corporate interference and prudish old mummies whose bandages were wrapped up too tight.
Canceled because it was too cool and lame ass executives didn't want to take a risk.

They need to continue this show like adult swim gave samurai jack a final season many years later, same with young justice
It shows even Now WB still can't figure it out...!
I loved the idea, it just didn’t play out how I thought it would. Stopped watching after the 1st season
i have always said a batman beyond videogame would be badass during the day you play as terry mcginnis in school dealing with nash and other things a kid does during night you are batman as bruce wayne has passed it is up to you to become a better batman and perhaps allow your younger brother matt in as robin as was done in the comics
Honestly I could see why the show got cancelled. The show was cool but nothing happens except defeating a weekly villain. Hardly any character development and lacked an overarching story. Except season 1 but after that nothing.
Kevin Conroy and Will Friedle had great chemistry
I user to watch it after school and thought it was super cool. The colors, the voice acting, the words I didn't understand. My parents didn't have a problem with the contents of the show either
Also a cancelled batman beyond game and cancelled batman beyond animated movie
Around the time Beyond was ending, the team was trying to pitch a Justice League cartoon with many compromises to satisfy KidsWB's annoying "child appropriate" demands. When Cartoon Network offered to host the show with little to no interference they immediately switched studios and made the greatest JL adaptation there will ever be.
Fascinating. The show was cancelled because of low ratings. Fascinating.
I'm glad we did get a satisfactory ending in Justice league Unlimited with The Once and Future Thing and Epilogue.
Out of all the Batman series that I have watched Batman beyond was truly the best one and it always will be. I did hear that they are planning to make a Batman beyond movie
At least we have a comic series run to continue the story
I'm still upset we didn't get a Batman Beyond movie, we got another reboot of the main Batman story yet again instead
Batman Beyond will eventually happen with Michael Keaton. I think after Matt Reeve’s Batman will be the perfect time. Keaton will be a little older which fits the character of old Bruce.
Terry McGinnis was born a few days ago iykyk😂😂
Batman beyond was my favourite 🥺🥰 used to love watching this show
It kind of got more of an ending on the Justice League series. Warner has always had DC in a choke hold.
needs a good closer movie
They have to change the design of Dee Dee as well to sexy one as well. :)
It quite literally got the soectacular spiderman treatment 💀
Bring it back. Goldmine of a show right here to recoup your losses from short-sighted decisions WB.
They could've done much more with this. I loved this series. I wouldn't mind seeing a reboot of it.
