Skipped a few steps, but I got mainly how to do it. Super easy, except... you do not need 2 external USB drives in order to save both your saved games and the update software. What I did was use the same USB drive, saved the saved games first, which automatically created the PS4 folder on the drive, along with the UPDATE folder, then copied the PS4UPDATE.PUP file into that folder. This allows you to both have the update file to use and your saved games all on one USB drive. All in all a good video, but you need to add that, as your info is wrong.

Does anyone know how to download saved game data from your PS Plus cloud back onto your PS4?
Just bought a new model ps4 didn't know you could unscrew the tray do I need any of this stuff if I'm just switching my old 500gb hard drive with another one 500 I just need the tray right cause the main screws are in different places on the tray I should only need to unscrew and transfer to the different tray right @ifixit
If you want your old game data, before you install a new HDD you need to back it up onto a external HDD the only thing with saves by cloud is you multiplayer data and you trophys.

+Paul Stewart now what if I just wanna switch hardrives to another tray I shouldn't have to backup anything right just bout a new ps4 and the internal setup is different from the first model can't I just switch hard drive trays and be good without all the usb stuff and laptop steps
True, but SSD prices are falling. They used to be $2/GB, now they're about $0.50/GB. As they get more mainstream they'll come down even further. I can see the hesitation though, a Terabyte SSD costs more than the PS4 itself.

To everyone having a disc ejection issue here is a thought of what I am considering of doing you may want to do the same: Many users are experiencing issues regarding a disc ejection issue which will eject a disc *even if there is none to eject* so my thought is too install a new hard drive such as a TB or 2 and play completely digitally from now on many people are already doing it digitally doing so will ensure that your ejection issue will not impact your game play.

make sure you download the new installation software file which is 1GB, not the regular update which is about 460mb. good luck.

When my PS4 is turn off 5 or 10 times it will say connect to the USB and then press ps bottom when I did it will say update version 5.05

Just use a drive with 5400 rpm, you can find some that go up to 2TB. Seems easier to not tempt fate.
