Mike Johnson Just drive straight through the door. It will get stuck about half way through, then you just get out and kill the elite. Only catch is that it'll probably get completely stuck, so you can't use it at the end. I just kill the camo elites with the pistol as a head shot is enough. It might not be efficient foor speedruns, but if you're just trying to complete the level on legendary, it works just fine
You blatantly lie in your commentary telling us that we can do this, I'm just a human being... NO YOU AREN'T! That shit was fuckin incredible. You are other worldly my friend.
Running this in 2019 and can confirm all of these tricks still work. I don’t think they bother patching campaign glitches but I was able to get the checkpoint right before the door, was able to eject through the door, and finished with a time of 7:18
Thank you 343, for making checkpoints a thing of the past Edit: Got through it, no deaths, with my frustration however came a little fun discovery. If you drive a bit slower towards the door and jump into the door as it is closing with the back of the warthog hitting the door, you get launched through the map to a platform right above the overshield. This also despawns the two elites guarding the map room and most of the grunts and elites throughout the rest of the level + the hunters.
Bro that tree when you’re driving up the first hill before the 2 hard turns makes me want to burn the Amazon rainforest The whole campaign on legendary makes me want to commit war crimes
Guys, instead of launching yourself through the door, try gunning for the door right away so you can lodge yourself and the warthog in the doorway, and most of the time, it'll work and you can just get out. Soemtimes you'll get stuck in the door and die, but the success rate is higher than this.
The warthog is disproportional when compared to the size of the door, even the front of it. Everytime I tried it the warthog would only go in 1-2 inches, which left me unsuccessful.
When I was a little boy, other than the library this mission was the most terrifying and felt like a chore to play mostly because of the elite zealot with the energy sword standing at the door after you have activated the cartographer.
Doing this speedrun was the worst decision ever. The definition of hell. I tried for about 20 minutes until I finally made it through that fucking door. Did the whole level. Took me 1 hour. Did the whole level again. Somehow managed to get through that door within 7 minutes. Took me 18 minutes to get through the whole level. Now I tried for a third time. Playing this level again for 1:30 h now. Did not manage to get through that fucking door again. So all in all I spent 3 hours trying to do that level. 10/10 would kill myself
Same I just wanted to get through some challenges that require a playlist so I was like “Oh yeah, just do the speed-run one that has missions that can be skipped in 2 to 4 minutes... I’ve never wanted to absolutely break a controller quite so hard because of a glitchy warthog and a fucking dumbass door...
Can confirm that all of these tricks still work perfectly in 2020, just takes practice. Did it just the other day in 5:33 and each one of these works exactly as he showed. Great guide as always
so for those having issues with the grenade jump against the pillar on the way back up behind is another pillar with a lip about at head height, do grenade jump there then to the immediate right is the platform, takes literally about 3 seconds longer
Set a PB of 5:22. I got so lucky. I was having the hardest time with the warthog launch and first drop. But then just now I swear I did em all perfect. Except for the nade jump to camo. I threw too many plasmas and launched the plasma pistols off the ledge. So once I got camo I had to do the next nade jump and then run the platform till I assassinated a jacket for their pistol. Then I was home free. Thanks Eli. Amazing videos
If you can get to the grenade jump in a decent amount of time (and if you successfully do the Warthog launch) you can just take your time going up the ramp and killing everything. If you're just going for achievements use the Legendary runs as the Par Score achievement run while doing speedrunning tactics as then you can skip certain fights you don't have to do, because as soon as you get to the par time in game your score decreases 1 point per second. So it's really important to still attempt the speed running achievement while going for par score as well. Once you pick up the overshield, activate the cartographer, and backsmack the 2 elites you can take your time a little bit, kill everything rack up the points and still make it out in plenty of time. Eli's run was under 5 minutes and the par time is 15 minutes so that gives you roughly 12 minutes in taking your time killing enemies and making it safe. Plasma pistols and the magnum are your best friends (but plasma pistol takes priority for elites) and don't forget to backpack reload. 1 magnum shot for each of the hunters and they're done, plasma pistol then headshot elites, grenade jackals (especially on the ramps as they have nowhere to jump to) and you should be fine. If you notice you have the par score (which is 18,000 points) then just focus on speedrunning it to the end. If you can get outside around the 10-13:30 minute mark you'll be fine as once you're outside if you replicate what Eli does with the overshield and drive back up you'll be fine. Overall this is one of the easier missions to par score and par time in the same run. I just finished Truth and Reconciliation Par Time and Par Score and I just made the Par Time using Eli's guide with a final time of 19:42. You just have to practice the tricks on Easy and figure out how they work and then attempt them on Legendary. A good tip is always Save & Quit if you ever die or you fail DO NOT RESTART CHECKPOINT, if you Save & Quit you will revert your checkpoint, time, and score to how it was at the previous checkpoint. So for example if you have 4:24 time and a 8,236 score and you go ahead another 30 seconds and you kill a few enemies and then something kills you, if you just revert checkpoint your time and score will be 4:54 and whatever your score would be due to the enemy kills and your death deducts points. If you Save & Quit your Time and Points will revert back to 4:24 and 8,236. Saving and Quitting then reloading your save really helps not to replay the level over and over again unnecessarily and it gives you a better chance of getting the Par Time and Par Score in the same run.
They really aren't, the warthog slide is probably the hardest part but if you can turn well enough and know when to slow down and speed up you will do just fine
speed runs are something ive never really watched or taken an interest to.. after seeing this man my opinion has changed. incredible. just tried it myself (with the exception of the main grenade jump) bagged myself a time of 7.48 and a nice achievement. hope to see more guides eli! :)
there seems to be 20 more enemies that spawn for me, no checkpoints, and an invisible wal in front of the first door. I launch myself into the room and then the door BEHIND me and then launches me out. Yay, nice
Took me about 15 minutes but I've finally gotten through the door a few times but die on that first fall. Such a cool speed run, thanks for posting this!
BRO! Thank you so much! The hardest part was in the beginning, getting into the door that closes by having the warthog launch you was hard! but the rest was pretty easy! Thank you!! saved me so much time!
I finally got all the tricks, but took me like half an hour completing the mission cause of all the re-doings, is just so hard man and you make it seem so damn easy
I just started speed running halo a couple of days finally mastered everything for this level thanks to your awesome walkthroughs :) really appreciate it keep up the great work!
Actually tried pulling off the tricks in this mission after watching one of his videos (on heroic of course I'm not a maniac). And actually managed to pull it off his explanations are pretty clear. Mind you it was not perfect but it was certainly fun.
+TheEvilPanda the door part is complete bullshit. i have been going for three hours and the only time i got through the warthog glitched through the wall, blew up, and killed me.
When i went through to door it glitched me through the floor all the way down to the slant you drop on, completely skipped that whole part and no enemies spawned until i was in the invis rom. The hunters didnt spawn either.
Thanks for all these videos, it would be impossible for me to get the speedrunning achievements in the MCC if it wasn't for these. Was able to get under 7 min. on this mission using your strategy. I would like to suggest that achievement hunters like myself might be encouraged to use certain skulls during these runs as they can help a lot. Was able to get the par time on the first two missions by using a hybrid of my own tactics and yours using the Grunt funeral, GBP, Pinata and Boom skulls active. Keep up the good work here, and I will see you when Halo 5 comes out.
Thank you very much! I finally complete the mission in 5:32 But I found easier going through the door instead of launch myself. The only problem is in the final part, you have to push the warthog with granades because it gets stuck.
The sling is so much harder than it looks in these. Also that little grenade hop after the invisibility? Everyone in the room stats shooting at me the moment I do it, and it kills me.
I once got the warthog stuck in the door that locks and when i got out i was on the other side, i never thought of bailing out and sliding in like a badass. I always just try ramming it straight in there.
lol I just did this today and it glitched like no other and I couldn't move it. The other marine was in the passenger seat and when it went into a cut scene, the marine was smashed to death haha
If you drive the warthog straight thru the door it gets stuck and once you have done the above you can't free it, and you have to fight through the grunts/invisible elites in the narrow passage to finish the level.
holy shi* it was so weirde to play this mission but it's totaly worth it :D it was a lot of fun in the end and i tryed it over 3 hours to complete the mission :D thx Eli, you are the best
Somehow doing the warthog part in the beginning, I fell through the floor beneath the door. Skipped the cutscene and was a less stressful drop making it to the bottom. It also despawned the two elites and other enemies until I hit the cloak room.
***** I got that achievement within the first week of playing. And my friend got it the first day he played on his account within the last month. It's like a virus achievement, it keeps getting easier to achieve. And you only have to have killed someone with the achievement, not actually someone who killed a 343 employees themselves. So you can kill someone who killed another someone who actually killed a 343 employee. That chain can just keep going.
Something that doesn't help with speedrunning, but is cool to know, is that the warthog can get through the ravine early in the level, before the two hunters, at a very specific angle and enough speed. Also, I once tried to drive it through the closing door and ended up with it vibrating madly, stuck in the door, and killing me repeatedly, as an autosave had occurred.
Me: hahaha I unlocked the door first instead of going into the bunker I'm so smart Speedeunners: [[so fast they invert the entire process and go through the locked door
Made it through the warthog door once, shot the ground like you said which attracted an elite which made me back off the bridge(you also said there was a checkpoint there) and die after 3 more hours of the warthog door i officially give up
After failing to do the launch a few times, I got bored and just drove the warthog straight into the doorway, unexepectedly, the front half of the warthog made it through before the door closed, allowing me to get out on the other side. Is this a reliable strategy or did I just get extremely lucky?
fristi61 I succeeded to get the warthog halfway through the door 3 more times after that over about 10 attempts. Of those 3 times, one time I got stuck with a plasma and died just as I drove through. The second time I glitched through the geometry and got pushed back out of the hallway when I exited the vehicle. The 3rd time it all worked fine. The downside is that you'll not splatter as many enemies in that room this way, which you will have to face again later. Also, that warthog is stuck there, you can get in and out of the driver seat to get back to the other side, but you won't be able to use it to drive to the pelican. So all in all this method (in my experience) requires less practice but is a little slower and exposes you to a bit more combat at the end of the mission. If you can't seem to figure out the launch it's a viable alternative though.
Thanks for all the guides Eli. Nailed the triple grenade jump but got very unlucky with the gold elites at the beginning. Had one wave that actually had three!!! Do you think you are going to do LASO guides when you are done with the regular Legendary ones? The LASO playlists don't seem like true LASO, they are more like Mythic difficulty. They only have the skulls that make things more difficult on while the others like bandana and scarab aren't on. If you do good luck Halo 2's skulls look like it's going to be a beast.
The thing that ruins this as a viable method is that invisibility. Even if you're a second off there is NO getting past that last area unless you kill all the enemies.
Takes several tries but driving straight through the door is easier and quicker. Once I was through the door (you have to straighten the warthog exactly to fit through the door) I kept driving straight for a few seconds until the door closed then got out. I kept getting out of the warthog immediately and the closing door would kill me.
I fucking hate that door with the sword elite I have tried for 3 hours almost and have never gotten in, it always closes before I can get in, might just have to try another guide because I can’t do this one
To anyone doing this in 2022 or later: Here is how I did it (and recommend doing it). I took 6:00 doing this (along with the save/quit method), and it avoids doing the warthog slide trick with the door. For the majority, you can follow the guide, apart from the timestamps I mention below. Also to note: Try to maintain blue health until at least the camo pickup, if not longer. It greatly increases your chances of success, as both the seconds following de-camo and the last second sprint for the pelican are very deadly. 0:53 : I didn't throw a grenade at the group of enemies, instead opting to save it. If you take more than shield damage, just restart, but it shouldn't be more than a shot or two taken anyway. 1:20 : When doing these turns, don't try to full speed everything. Once I let off the gas a bit, I became much more consistent in driving it inside. 1:40 : The infamous warthog slide. I recommend not doing this! Instead, do as other commenters have said and drive full speed into the door. If it goes well, you should get the warthog stuck halfway. Get out, back smack, and continue. 2:38 : At this point, I grabbed a plasma pistol and reloaded before touching the camo, and also managed to get a checkpoint beforehand. Once you grab the camo, you want to optimize every move as much as possible. 2:48 : There is the smaller pillar that others have suggested, but I recommend just doing the grenade jump proper. The seconds saved in a good run can make the difference between fighting the last room and barely escaping, and if you get the checkpoint from the last timestamp, not much time is lost anyway. 3:08 : If you are lucky, you can occasionally get a checkpoint in this room. If you haven't lost any camo time and get a checkpoint here, your life will be made easier. 3:24: My camo dies here, and there were two elites both times I did the level, so a back smack wasn't possible. Instead, I recommend just moving/jumping past them, not throwing any grenades or shooting any of these enemies (The elites seem to respond much slower when you do nothing.) You will likely take a lot of damage, so what you want to do once past the blue elites is to charge your plasma pistol, release on the sword elite, then continue past towards the platform as you headshot him with your magnum. 3:36 : Here, the warthog will be blocking your way. What you'll want to do from here on out will differ from the video, so I've typed it out below. 1: Use your magnum to take out the grunts, shooting on either side of the warthog or crouching on top to do so. 2: Use uncharged plasma shots to take out the elite. Charged ones seem to hit the warthog. 3: Once everyone is dead, get in the warthog and drive as far back as you can (not very far). When you get out, you should be on the other side, so jump the wheel. 4: Pick up as many plasmas and make sure all weapons are loaded. I was lucky to get a checkpoint around here as well, before going up the first hallway. 5: At the top of the hallway, those blue elites should randomly die (don't ask why). You'll want to use the half-wall just past them for protection, and you're going to use all but 2 of the plasmas available to help keep the camo elites that storm the room at bay, attempting to stick them or just throwing the grenade in the middle of the room. Your goal is to hold here until the Pelican can land, so space grenades out a bit. And, while stopping so many camo elites seems difficult, it is leagues easier than driving a warthog. 6: After you get down to 1 or 2 plasmas, and you've held them off as long as possible, you're going to make a break for it. Start heading towards the pelican, and launch one plasma on each side of the room as you go, hopefully preventing the elites from blocking your path/killing you. The ship should be ready, so get in and you're done! Hopefully this helps anyone struggling with the door skip. Good luck!
Took me 2h to never pull off the warthog skip. Took me 15 min to just force half the warthog through the door and exit it to be on the other side... If you are trying to speedrun for the
I remember I got lost on this mission as a kid, now I watch someone complete it in mere minutes.
Haha same
Same here bro
how the fuck would you get lost here? This isn't library
These 5 minutes are going to be a fun 2-3 hours.
Xddddddddddd
*sees a 5 minute speed run video. "Oh yell ya this will be quick"!!!! *spends 30 minutes trying to do the first trick "FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK"!!!!
PONYBOYonline yeah that trick is not joke
They say he's still trying to get through that door to this day.
I've spent 2.5h
I hate how speed runners never explain the door launch in more detail. I get that about 1 in every 50 tries
+Mike Johnson Well now he uploaded a video on how. Bit late for you though
+Mike Johnson just swing the warthog round and its ass should launch you through the door
I know this is late, but you can also just drive through the door
I could do it in just a few...

Just wait till halo 2
have u played cod WAW on veteran?
or halo 2 on legendary
Everyone's talking about the warthog door. And I'm sitting here trying to do that first grenade jump after a dozen tries.
Fuxking ran out of nades can’t do the damn jump
Guys, instead of launching yourself through the door, try gunning for the door right away so you can lodge yourself and the warthog in the doorway, and most of the time, it'll work and you can just get out. Soemtimes you'll get stuck in the door and die, but the success rate is higher than this.

I followed your advice and just went for the door: got over half of my warthog through on my 4th try.
Worked first try, thanks man!
GnarlyBellyButton You are a hero
7 years later I'm so glad I found this video. thank god for Nak3d Eli
With your wisdom and guidance I got a new record of 29 minutes and a score of -11,000 on mcc. The only way is up!
Nak3d Eli's 10 year channel anniversary is in a month. Crazy.
When I was a little boy, other than the library this mission was the most terrifying and felt like a chore to play mostly because of the elite zealot with the energy sword standing at the door after you have activated the cartographer.

spending 3 hours to beat a level in 5 minutes... worth it

I’ve never wanted to absolutely break a controller quite so hard because of a glitchy warthog and a fucking dumbass door...
that door is way too fucking random
Can confirm that all of these tricks still work perfectly in 2020, just takes practice. Did it just the other day in 5:33 and each one of these works exactly as he showed. Great guide as always
Whenever I try and get out of my warthog and through the door, MC takes way longer to climb out.
"Launch yourself"... HOW?!
"I'm a human being, you're a human being, you can do it too."

so for those having issues with the grenade jump against the pillar on the way back up behind is another pillar with a lip about at head height, do grenade jump there then to the immediate right is the platform, takes literally about 3 seconds longer
I'm gonna need to do a montage of training for grenade and crouch jumps with eye of the tiger in the background soon
Done yet?
How bout now?
After trying over 57 times, I just can't get through the door after getting out of the warthog :(
Set a PB of 5:22. I got so lucky. I was having the hardest time with the warthog launch and first drop. But then just now I swear I did em all perfect. Except for the nade jump to camo. Damn
Thank you for the guide. Your guide along with Silver's allowed me to beat the par time on Legendary with it. Much appreciated.
I'm still watching your videos. Years and years after you make them.
as a kid i tried a million times to get through that door. cool to see that it's actually possible
I'm not getting a checkpoint before the door, and I've been following your guide to the letter.
David Dushane 343 did a ton of patching recently they made doing this kind of stuff a lot harder
I figured as much. I believe I got through this later the same day I posted the comment, though.
Note to self: 40% of these tricks are impossible on legendary.
FUCK NO !!!
Nah they aint
They really aren't, the warthog slide is probably the hardest part but if you can turn well enough and know when to slow down and speed up you will do just fine
I finally got the first trick … walking across the beach
speed runs are something ive never really watched or taken an interest to.. after seeing this man my opinion has changed. incredible. just tried it myself (with the exception of the main grenade jump) bagged myself a time of 7.48 and a nice achievement. hope to see more guides eli! :)

I fucking hate this level, I can never get that fucking door glitch until an hour later
LOL You can do this too after 4 hours of frustration
Thanks, I had to rewatch the door lock part several times, but I can finally get it semi-consistently.
BRO! Thank you so much! The hardest part was in the beginning, getting into the door that closes by having the warthog launch you was hard! but the rest was pretty easy! Thank you!! saved me so much time!
hahaha im 15 minutes off of goat roped and my silent cartographer time was like 25 minutes :') thank u naked eli once again
I finally got all the tricks, but took me like half an hour completing the mission cause of all the re-doings, is just so hard man and you make it seem so damn easy
Warthog slams into me every single time I try to slide and exit into the door. Trick is scuffed
Or maybe try until you do it? Works for me
I just started speed running halo a couple of days finally mastered everything for this level thanks to your awesome walkthroughs :) really appreciate it keep up the great work!
Actually tried pulling off the tricks in this mission after watching one of his videos (on heroic of course I'm not a maniac). And actually managed to pull it off his explanations are pretty clear. Mind you it was not perfect but it was certainly fun.
That took me 1 fucking hour long to just get through the door!!!
For the door just make sure to make a 45 degree able and MAKE SURE TO JUMP
+TheEvilPanda i think there is another way of getting past that bit by passing through the window rather than teh door, but idk if it's easier or not
+TheEvilPanda the door part is complete bullshit. i have been going for three hours and the only time i got through the warthog glitched through the wall, blew up, and killed me.
Been working on it for 1 hour and can barley get past the hallway.. Hate it
I did it once, a long time ago... Accidentally with a bunch of marines on the warhog. Lol
1:58 if you wait around you'll get another checkpoint
Great speed run, great video, great mission, JUST GREAT!!! Thanks for the awesome video
When i went through to door it glitched me through the floor all the way down to the slant you drop on, completely skipped that whole part and no enemies spawned until i was in the invis rom. The hunters didnt spawn either.
aaand I got goat roped. I cannot express my love for Eli

Thank you very much! I finally complete the mission in 5:32
But I found easier going through the door instead of launch myself. The only problem is in the final part, you have to push the warthog with granades because it gets stuck.
This guys got great talent. Took me about an hour or so 😂😅
You deserve some massive props. This is very impressive.
If you jump into the pelican early, you can mash the a-button to make the level end nearly instantly
Jaw actually dropped at the door launch part - that was insane.
Talk about Halo 5 Eli!
Finished in just under 10 minutes because of you, thanks!
how exactly do you "launch yourself"? what button do you press?
Matt W the button to exit the warthog. The momentum as you get out 'launches' you inside.
@@MapleTree0 You need to be accelerating, I also do a little flick to the right. If your warthog hits the door you jumped too late.
You can still go through the door. It's just takes a while to get through it. Thanks for the great vids!
U sure it seems like i go through but i get pushed out
You can't do the warthog fling above like 30 fps on pc btw. Just FYI if you are playing on PC use a frame limiter. I set mine to 20 fps.
Lol just failed at the warthog launch in a run but I clipped into the ceiling and was able to make on top of the underground structure.
I've spent over an hour trying to get past the door with the warthog and it still isn't working >.>
The sling is so much harder than it looks in these. Also that little grenade hop after the invisibility? Everyone in the room stats shooting at me the moment I do it, and it kills me.
You are the best! I hope I can pull any of those tricks off
Holy hell, I did it the first try! Your video is legendary!
He doesn’t mention it but he uses the emergency brake in the war hog. Hold the L to make those sharp turns
You said not to get intimidated. But I am quite scared to attempt this.
never thought that was posible! So cool man!
This dude can speed run the whole campaign before my noob ass finishes Halo on Heroic
You don't have to do the 2nd grenade jump you can climb the pillar thing behind it
Keep up the good work eli!
My eyes burn of pure FUCKING AWESOMENESS!!!
Somehow doing the warthog part in the beginning, I fell through the floor beneath the door. Skipped the cutscene and was a less stressful drop making it to the bottom. It also despawned the two elites and other enemies until I hit the cloak room.
***** That would further optimise this speedrun time. My guess is the doors forced you downwards as you were caught in em.
Tyler Mandler Exactly my very first multiplayer kill last weekend popped that achievement. :P
***** lol i have that achievement, i think i killed a player who killed an employee
the trick to get in the map room early i can do it. thanks eli for the help!
:-)
Something that doesn't help with speedrunning, but is cool to know, is that the warthog can get through the ravine early in the level, before the two hunters, at a very specific angle and enough speed. Also, I once tried to drive it through the closing door and ended up with it vibrating madly, stuck in the door, and killing me repeatedly, as an autosave had occurred.
U are the god of halo speed runners
this actually worked on mcc. Thanks
Me: hahaha I unlocked the door first instead of going into the bunker I'm so smart
Speedeunners: [[so fast they invert the entire process and go through the locked door
The part where ur invisible and have to gernade jump is about impossible if u dont have full health
Yep
Made it through the warthog door once, shot the ground like you said which attracted an elite which made me back off the bridge(you also said there was a checkpoint there) and die after 3 more hours of the warthog door i officially give up
I just did all those tricks.. But it took a lot of practice!
After failing to do the launch a few times, I got bored and just drove the warthog straight into the doorway, unexepectedly, the front half of the warthog made it through before the door closed, allowing me to get out on the other side. Is this a reliable strategy or did I just get extremely lucky?
Idk probally the lucky side but idk
fristi61 I succeeded to get the warthog halfway through the door 3 more times after that over about 10 attempts.
Thank you very much, you made my day!
That door trick still gives me so much trouble, my fastest time on this level is still only 10 minutes 15 seconds
And then there’s me who has no idea how to traverse the map.
I did! It took me 12 minutes, but I did it first time trying to do it.
This blows my box out
Ik
I fucking hate that door with the sword elite I have tried for 3 hours almost and have never gotten in, it always closes before I can get in, might just have to try another guide because I can’t do this one
Did u manage to do it?
After doing this and failing over 20 times I got pits an drove the marthog right threw the dang door and made it completely threw
Wow thats amazing
that human being mentioning in the commentary was epic :D hahahaaahaaahaaaa
Good luck!
Thank
Took me 2h to never pull off the warthog skip.
Took me 15 min to just force half the warthog through the door and exit it to be on the other side...
If you are trying to speedrun for the
damn, really hard trick to get through that damn door
Did this one today as well, took about 40 minutes
