Great video! I like how you kept running the video to show how long it takes...not that long!! I found the upper manifold bolts ar T-30, but used a T-27 for the rear 2 bolts since they had to be removed at an angle. I also didn't take the EGR sensor out of the intake, just unbolted it, loosened the bracket behind it, and moved the EGR vlave out of the way. You savd me a lot of headache trying to find all the connections on the intake, there are a lot!!! Took about as long for me as it did you in the video!!! Thanks again for the great video!!!!

Oh man. This looks above my experience grade. That's a lot of connections. Thanks for the video. It's -12 deg WI and she's running very rough! Won't even idle. Always the cold gets it.

Hello, I am the owner of a 1998 Explorer, 4.0 V6 SOHC in Europe (Czech Republic). Diagnostics showed me the code P0174, at the service I already changed - new spark plugs + cables, new distributor (coil), new fuel pump, cleaned the intake flap, new intake sensor. The problem with my vehicle is that when starting off at an intersection or at an intersection, the revs drop to an absolute minimum until the engine is able to shut off. I have the intake off and will be changing the o-rings today (Oct. 12, 2024) just like you. I hope this helps. I wouldn't know what else to go for. When the engine is cranked, you can hear air hissing somewhere from the front intake points.

I had the same on mine, turned out it was the spark plugs. Changed them and the code went away :) now it's time to tackle the gasket since the rpm in idle is kind of rough especially with the ac on. Hope you get it done!

I know the sob rings would fall out on me trying to reinstall

Wow, you do a great job. Please come to Manchester N.H. and fix my 1998 Explorer. My friend says he doesn't know if it's a lower intake gasket or drivers side head gasket.
Is there any way of telling which it is??
