It is, without a doubt, the most interesting video about Photoshop I've watched this year. Thank you very much.

Many thanks, greatest tutorial for Blend-if and vektorising ever!!!!
Easily the best "Blend-If" explanation and demonstration there is. Adobe, can you hear me? Great job.
My same exact thoughts. There's a lot of pretty good explanations of it on YT but this is on a whole another level.
Nice demo. Thank you, so much, for the free action. Very generous.

Posterize is a word derived from poster, like the print on your wall. Both ‘o’ letters are pronounced the same.
Thanks, that was driving me crazy. Otherwise great tutorial.
It's an AI voice
@@johnfury8834 Even worse. Somebody is too lazy to record and too lazy to check.

Thank you very much! This is so underratted. I tried another top search result tutorial but it gives me very bad results, sometimes there is gap between each layers of black, grey and white.

Awesome

thanx :)
nice
Great tutorial but one thing...I don't know who got through the Action macro you used to run. I missed where you stated how to Convert Color Fill 1-6 to single layer thumbnail or which objects are needed to create our own Action Run for the Color Fills. I could never get my various layers to work.
I clicked cuz I thought that was Paul Davids @PaulDavids in the thumbnail... great video btw
I would imagine you could do the same creating color layers instead of b&w. I am assuming though, it is much more difficult (?)
Anyways, great tutorial. Thanks for sharing.
You can create a colorful vector using this tutorial th-cam.com/video/DNQbQyVimNM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=KSdHOmJI181usKDJ
I think Pixivu demonstrated Blend If so well in this video.
Thanks! glad to hear that!
Unreal skills!! Thanks for sharing.
I would love to see this same effect done with color. I'm playing around with it now, and I'm close, but I just can't quite seem to figure it out to pull off one of those Illustrator-looking vector portrait styles.
here is a tutorial for what you want: th-cam.com/video/DNQbQyVimNM/w-d-xo.html
@@Pixivu Not really. That's a different effect/style and it's from an older version.
I though I knew some photoshop, but I was loudly mistaken ^^
this is great but you could just drop the original photo into illustrator and it will do it automatically for you
I learned something new today. I always thought it was pronounced POE-sterize because originally posters were printed by pressing inked wooden blocks of letters or engravings onto paper. Each additional ink color on a poster required another pass through the printing press so you'd make your art just a few bold colors to save time and money.
Hi! I had a bit of a problem with your Action. When I ran it, after the first Blend If and color selection (white) was completed, I hit OK...but a message came up saying: the command "Delete" is not currently available. Below it was "Stop" and "Continue". I tried this several times, and it never worked. Ultimately, I imported my image into Illustrator, did a 6-color Trace and Expand, and that's how I completed my project. Can you please let me know where I went wrong? Prior to this, your directions were fantastic - on target...until I tried vectorizing with the Action.
Finally I found a way to transform image to cartoon, rather than draw pen tool all over the image
Yes, you can start your drawings with this tutorial, and you have the option to modify the output. I’m happy you enjoyed it!
can we do a simple version of this in Procreate ? picking how many colors the image is made up of ?
Great tutorial. For once, I decided to follow along with my own image. All went well until I got to 6:38 where I couldn't select the first-level Blend if image. I hit control (or CMD in my case as I'm using a Mac). It did not select the black areas, merely the entire canvas so I was unable to create the work path.. Can anyone please help me out here? I did a selection using select > color range and that works OK. Would just like to know why the suggested method doesn't work
Alright @6:38 you need to convert the layer to a smart object first, and then you can make a selection with ctrl+click.
However, you don't need to follow this part. Just follow the instructions in the "Create the Effect" chapter to create a PSD file. Then, download the action and reuse it as explained in the "How to Use the Action" chapter. all other parts are to show you a few tricks and explain how blend if works!
Pixivu Thank you so much.
Doesn't Illustrator vectorize images quicker? Thanks for all the detail work in Photoshop.
Does it work with simple black and white raster logos? Because Make Path is really inaccurate, it just creates something which snaps or not on the original lines.
Hi, thank you for the tutorial. I have a few questions, what's the difference between FREE/PREMIUM action? Is there a way to vectorize colorful images too? Because using saturation doesn't help, but I need to select (with action) too many colors without it. :/
Hello and welcome! I am happy that you liked it.
With the free action, you will need to create the PSD file first as explained in the tutorial. but the premium action can perform this step without requiring a PSD file.
yes you can with the help of Illustrator, check this tutorial: th-cam.com/video/DNQbQyVimNM/w-d-xo.html
WAW🤔
Would you say the results are better than using Illustrator’s tools for vectorizing? (live trace) It looks like maybe it is, but it’s a lot more laborious.
Nothing hard here I think, All you need to do is create your own PSD file as explained in the "Create the Effect" chapter. and download the free action and use it with your PSD file to easily repeat the process as described in the last chapter.
I spend around 10 hours to make a girl vector in illustrator then I saw this video😅
Hi… I’m struggling to download the blend action I have no option to export it in photoshop do I need to do this part or can you help me work it out? Thanks Sam
❤❤❤❤
I've been using the action for several weeks and it's been working great until now. When the Blend IF Vector Creator action is at the point of using the eye dropper from the Color Picker menu I get an error. ('Could not use the eye dropper tool because of a program error') My Photoshop is up to date, did an update mess with your Action? I've rebooted with no luck.
Please get back to the previous version of Photoshop. The latest version has a reported bug related to the eyedropper tool. Here's the bug link:
community.adobe.com/t5/photoshop-ecosystem-bugs/photoshop-25-4-0-color-picker-quot-could-not-use-the-eye-dropper-tool-because-of-a-program-error/idi-p/14378886
wtf is that? magic? burn the witch!!! loved your tutorial, please keep doing amazing videos like that!
Is there a way to keep the original color?
what is control S on mac?
If you have Adobe Illustrator you can skip all the steps of turning different layers into vector art.
Import your image directly into Adobe Illustrator & choose a "Convert to Paths" preset that fits your needs (preset may need adjusting but make sure to save your adjustments as a new preset) then "convert to paths" & you're done.
Good idea! However, I believe that exporting the output image from PS to AI would take as long (or maybe longer) than using the action.
All you have to do is export it once as a PNG, JPG or whatever format. No exporting as layers. Send me a file I could do it right now, it's very quick & I'm only running Adobe Creative Suite 5@@Pixivu I used to do it all the time for work.
Unless I have missed something about your desired outcome, in which case I apologize but I'm pretty sure my process will get you there.
@donlee_ohhh Of course, your process works. I even explained something similar to it in one of my previous videos: th-cam.com/video/DNQbQyVimNM/w-d-xo.html.
I mean jumping between 2 software might take a bit longer, the action actually takes a few seconds too. It is a matter of seconds I mean.
If you have an internet connection to download free stuff - this can be easily done in Inkscape (to trace and convert to actual vectors) and then do the same touch ups in GIMP (back to raster). Then slowly extend the middle fingers towards Adobe in real life. To use three different tools combined might feel cumbersome at first.
Vectorization part will go 20 times faster in other software, even Illustrator. Otherwise amazing craftsmanship - rare techniques for best poster style graphics.
My Filter "old paint" is completly different 😫 The image turns only lines. Do you know how to fix?
How come under stylize, oil paint is not an option. It is there, but I can't choose it.
You should update your Photoshop. For more information on which versions support Oil Paint, please check this out: www.patreon.com/posts/oil-paint-filter-24686486
Pay attention to what layer you are currently : you should be on the main layer, not a filtered layer like levels. It just happened to me, that's how I know !
Thank you! @@JohnDoe-nt6sn
Would this work for a colored image?
do you mean a colored output? check this: th-cam.com/video/DNQbQyVimNM/w-d-xo.html
In my photoshop 2021 no option to export to ai and also in preference export option i cant see any export to ai option please help
where was this tutorial when I was doing vectors by selecting every color using magic selection tool. These gaps were killing me
Merhaba Türkiye'den severek takip ediyorum. Siyah/Beyaz profil fotoğrafı için yuvarlak avatar dosyası oluştu rabilirmisin yaparsan çok sevinirim kolay gelsin ❤
I just went through this tutorial, BUT when I open the EPS in Illustrator all I get is a bunch of clipping masks for each shape without the ability to change colors. I tried releasing the clipping masks and I'm left with a bunch of solid rectangles stacked on top of one another, and just the empty paths of my portrait. The only workaround I can think of is to use the pathfinder tool, reselect the individual pieces and apply the appropriate color. BUT when I do this I am left with small gaps in between the shapes. Am I missing something here? Is this not edible in AI and all work needs to be done beforehand in PS?
When exporting shape layers from Photoshop to Illustrator, each layer is exported as an empty path clipped to a fill layer.
To simplify things, you can delete all layers and leave only the layers (Don't forget to fill them with a color). And then, you can edit them, change their colors, or do whatever you want with them.
@@PixivuOkay, that makes sense! I'll give that a shot, I appreciate the tutorial and reply!
