    I am 72 years young. I am from Dallas; however, my career has taken me all over the world. My bucket list is almost exhausted since my retirement in 2016, except for baton twirling. Yes, that's right... baton twirling. I am dedicated to listening to your videos, however, progress is a little slow. I have a Starlite (28") baton. Hopefully, you are able to recommend an in- class here in San Antonio, Texas 78209. Practice, drill, practice, drill is my mantra. You are a beautiful lady and twirler. Keep your health in check, and let me know your immediate drill actions for my beginner journey in twirling.🎀

    I really needed this video! My baton tape is shredded 🙈😅

    Thanks for this great tutorial, my taping needed a boost! I asked a French twirler once about the solid opaque matte black they like, and he said it was a practical strategy that made it easier to see in the lights. At the opposite end, Savannah Miller used almost no tape at all except for a white dot at the balance point, which was also a nice look but I need tape to keep a grip on it. Also, the fumes from my fire baton dissolved the adhesive on the tape once when I didn't remove the tape before returning the baton to its case! That was a fun sticky surprise later.

      Thank you so much!!! Variations in tape preferences is certainly an interesting topic!!!

    Hey, I don’t know if this will be helpful for anyone else, but to eliminate the hassle of remeasuring every time, I use black electrical tape to mark the start and end points of the area of the shaft where I want tape! It’s been a lifesaver when I quickly have to retape a baton on the go! 😃

    • @AdiTwirls
      @AdiTwirls  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely! Great tip!

      Adaline Bebo I hadn’t finished watching the video when I posted it, but I’ll usually wrap the whole length when I know that I won’t be cleaning the whole shaft. It’s also a great idea to put baby powder on your hands before a rainy performance! Baby powder clumps up the wetness and allows for a better grip! 😉

    I twirled from the 60’s to the seventy’s. Oh how I wish we had been able to tape our batons. It was not done. My hands were always sweaty when I competed in high school for solo events. I am enjoying your videos. I still have my starlite baton and can still do some of what I did many years ago.

    When I twirled in the 80s and 90s we used to wax the shaft of our baton for grip.

    • @AdiTwirls
      @AdiTwirls  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      When I first started twirling, I waxed my baton!!! I had totally forgotten about that and haven't heard anyone mention that in ages. Thank you so much for your comment!

    Do you still stretch the tape if you don’t spiral it?

    • @AdiTwirls
      @AdiTwirls  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes! Even if the tape isn't spiraled, it will stretch after some use and slide down the baton!

    I'm taping a Samoan fireknife. No taping rules for me hehe. ;) Just trying to figure out how to maximize visibility. I have such a hard time seeing the shaft in the dark... Anyways, great vid!

    You're awesome....but what on earth is the point in taping? In the good old days we used candle wax for grip and sucked it up if it bruised us.

    • @AdiTwirls
      @AdiTwirls  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I remember waxing my baton when I was young! I live in Texas where the humidity is really high and can cause the baton to slip like crazy!
