  • In this video, I provide an update on the MTD lawn mower (Yard Machines). Indeed, it has been an interesting ride working on this mower, from solenoid replacement, starter repair, drive belts replacement and finally freeing up the seized tensioner pulley! I can finally drink a tall glass of coconut water!
    You can help me continue to produce these videos and upgrade my equipment! Any donations are very much appreciated.

    Same problem. Tensioner pulley worked yesterday to get old belt off now it won’t budge. I keep putting penetrating oil on it and tapping it with a hammer, ratcheting it, still hasn’t budged. But, I found your video helpful Now I know I’m on the right track, I hope.

    Nice fix. I had to replace the needle bearings in the variable drive pulley on mine. I suggest pulling yours off and adding grease to that cavity to keep those bearings fresh.

    Well, most of that was obvious for me because I've actually been there. But I will say this, I like your video I like your voice the way you talk makes me feel nice and calm and I think it was very informative.

    Here is a tip= oil everything that moves. These buggers have lots of moving parts and lubing them will not only keep from rust, it will extend the life of them.

    MTD made a lot of variations of lawn tractors over the years. I wish you would post what year your lawn tractor is cause they're not all made the same.

    I can't figure out where the springs are supposed to attach. I took it apart to fix the steering 3 years ago. Then I got very ill, now I am trying to remember where everything goes. I don't have a model number because the seat has been replaced. I replaced the belts that were very cracked, that was a job and a half. Now I have replaced the carburetor and changed the oil. It runs but I can't adjust the speed and I think it is a spring missing or 2. It is a huskee series 600 with a 38 inch deck made around 2003. If anybody has a hint of what I have done wrong please let me know. Thank you

    I have the opposite problem. there's too much pulley tension on the belt making it hard for the mower to get out of gear. any ideas?

  • @hallhouse5098

    You said the tensioner pulley was seized up.
    Did you mean it wasn’t spinning or it wasn’t sliding back and forth to keep tension on the belt?
    I replaced my rear trans belt and the tensioner pulley seems to move smoothly under the spring tension when I pull it away from the belt but while driving it it only seems to go into the first couple speeds but it will speed up if I use my heel to pull back on the brake/clutch lever thus putting tension on the belt.
    I think I may need to lubricate my sliding mechanism of the tensioner pulley so it applies the correct tension.

    • @DIYOneForAll
      @DIYOneForAll  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was not sliding back and forth like it should to apply required tension.

    we just replaced the engine to drive belt on a 46" deck yard machine and realized there is a rod out of place that keeps the belt lined up and can't get it to go back in the hole it belongs in......... Any ideas on how we can get it back in where it belongs so it stops breaking the belts?

    • @DIYOneForAll
      @DIYOneForAll  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I broke a few old rusty rods when I replaced the belts on mine due to the age of the mower. You may have to improvise. Make a trip to the hardware store and try a
      3/8-16 x 6 Hex Head Bolt (am-1268) screw or the longest ones they have to suit your application. I hope this helps. Cheers
