Champs event highlight film - Creating hope through action on World Suicide Prevention Day 2023

The link between domestic abuse and suicide has been reported nationally and data from Cheshire and Merseyside suspected suicide real time surveillance systems has indicated this is indeed a problem for the subregion.
On World Suicide Prevention Day 2023, 85 delegates met in Warrington at an event organised by the Champs Public Health Collaborative to discuss suicide and domestic abuse.
Key speakers included Sarah Dangar, Frank Mullane MBE and Deputy Police and Crime Commissioners Jeanie Bell from Merseyside and David McNeilage from Cheshire.
A video address by Professor Sir Louis Appleby and a talk by a member of our Lived Experience Network contributed to an informative, moving and inspiring event.
Chaired by Ruth du Plessis, lead Director of Public Health for Suicide Prevention, who gave the latest picture across Cheshire and Merseyside, the event received excellent evaluation from all delegates.
